  • It amazes me that a group of people whose second language is English laugh at jokes that include obscure terms and references. When I visited the Netherlands, the people made me embarrassed to be Australian by speaking english more intelligently and articulately than people in my own country.

  • I love Lewis Black but i have to argue the solar energy argument. That should have been done by now and itf they'd stop bickering and making excuses all the time and stop trying to figure out a way to make as money off it as they can, we'd all be living much simpler lives right now..."I'll take no flying cars, but solar energy..."

  • @SuckMyCOG It's hard.. it's not enough to get solar energy, you need efficient solar energy. They arn't trying to make solar energy profitable, they are trying to make it affordable. The most efficient solar cell currently costs whoever owns it 300k USD a day to run it assuming it is running at 100% efficiency and the sun was out all day. Solar cells also tend to break down very easily (being that most solar cell farms are in deserts, sand is killer) they cost alot to maintain.

  • @zakusarecool (continued) So it's not as if they have the technology and they are being greedy with it, it's that its not efficient enough to go up, if we wanted solar bad enough electricity for solar areas would cost enough to make up for the cost of running it, people dont want to pay more, solar isn't used as a mainline energy. Once they make a cell that can make enough energy 70% of the time to keep up its cost at the same price as other forms of electricity, then it'll see

  • @zakusarecool more use, but currently they havn't invented anything of that sort. "cells" currently have about 10 or so individual solar cells crammed into a very tiny space, a space that needs to be able to move to follow the sun over the course of the day. These solar farms go on for kilometers and still arn't efficient enough. One day they'll figure it out, but it's not just because they want money. People don't want to pay more, companies aren't charities.

  • @zakusarecool Honestly dude (and based on this video, I would imagine Lewis Black feels the same way), that's not a good enough reason.

  • @SuckMyCOG The reason was that people aren't willing to pay for it. The fault lies not with companies but with consumers. Maybe 1/10 people will opt in to pay 30% more each month for electricity if it was green, but the other 9/10 won't or cannot afford to. Most electric companies that have access to solar farms do use them and take hits to their profits for it, but to see more widespread use they'd have to pay for themselves.

  • @zakusarecool Ok so if people weren't so greedy and would just lower the prices on everything, we could be fine. There is no way anyone can justify why we don't live in a solar energy world.

  • Compostable nipple clamps

  • This felt more like a lecture on modern economics and less like a comedy skit. Best lecture I ever attended.

  • Lmfao, and you know why that argument about bears will work, because it will never be disproven by making the cars.

  • God fuck... 1.5 Million on a fucking rug and a "credenza"?! I could furnish entire apartment complexes for that!!! AAGGGGGHHHH!!

  • One person welcomes our giant bear overlords.

  • 9:13 What Mr. Black is trying to say is that the complaint against more efficient vehicles is an appeal to fear/future-- a very, very common fallacy.

  • thanks for video..!!!..:):):):)

  • @lambastMercy Thats what make the joke funny. And by most youtubers, you mean those gits that get paid more money than a human needs to live for 100 years to do their job wrong, etc. etc. etc. =p Its still hilarious to me

  • They were investing in what became known as

Ninja mortages. No income, no job or assets.

  • that's true. Banks don't give a shit. My friend got a f*cking credit card... when he was unemployed. WHAT. THA. F*CK.

  • @LeSage013 The bank here sent my cat a credit card once. I still don't know where they got his name...

  • @LeSage013

how is that the banks fault??? what the fuck is he doing asking for a creditcard in the first place????

living from creditcvard to creditcard is the stupidest thing i ever saw :P

  • @saintconnnor true. he was kinda an idiot to accept in the first place. lol. Still, I'd expect the banks should know more than clients themselves, so to me it's still exploitation of ignorant consumers. The informed should be more responsible than the ignorant, in my opinion.

  • Thank you, Lewis. Thank you for stating the greed. <3

  • I want a rug made of the pubes of virgins. ;_;

  • I just love him Ranting.

  • That joke don't work coz it really happens. Gits get paid more money then a human needs to live for 100 years to do their job wrong, and ruin the lives of 1000s others. While people that get paid enough to live week to week get fired if they do a lil bit of their job wrong. Stops it being funny for most Youtubers

  • @LambastMercy That my friend is Gospel. God havent we been screwed out of a lot!

  • @LambastMercy You nailed it. It's not funny because everyone stops to think "Oh sh!t - that's the truth!" and they don't think to laugh.

There's the "it's funny 'cause it's true" and then there's the "it's too true to be funny." The Titanic engine room bit falls into the second category. But God bless him for saying it - because it's the f*cking TRUTH.

  • @LambastMercy spell check

  • @LambastMercy : well that's the point. The system is set up to benefit the few at the top at the expense of people like you and me. It IS a joke.

  • his shark impression sounds like a dog hahaha

  • lewis black tells it like it is...if you dont like how the world really works then i guess its back to sleep for you :D

  • Some jokes dont work because he is in another country.

  • No. The joke works to perfection. Its hilarious. The reason people don't laugh is that it so true its disturbing and far too profound. Lewis Black is well known for jokes like this, but most of the time they are made outside the mainstream audience

  • 1:22 I think the joke never works because "blowing up the engine room" is a symbolic expression. Those are often only used in one language and don't translate well. That's why people who learn English as a second language often don't bother learning these expressions.

  • @tuschman168 No, the joke didn't work because it isn't a joke :) It is the ultimate form of irony with a thick layer of sarcasm that tastes like shit because it did happen, and everybody knows it isn't funny.
