Pity yet again, that the test car supplied by Ford is the top of the range with the sunroof and sat nav instead of the standard equipment. £1,300 for a sat nav and lose DaB Radio? please!
As for the comments about tyhe 3008, the worst semi automatic gearbox I have ever driven, jerky as hell. poor and French!
I like the S-MAX very much but unfortunately the front passenger seat is the most uncomfortable I've ever sat in because of the horribly uneven and sloping floor there. It's impossible to find a sitting position good enough for a trip lasting more than 15 minutes. Even the salesman had to agree (with a "Whoa, never thought about that. You're right!" and an embarrassed look on his face).
If you care about your front passengers, look elsewhere, for example at the quite similar Peugeot 3008.
I hate how you fucking Europeans insult our carbrands as shit, american cars is better than any Japshit or Euroshit. The only carbrand I would buy that is not made in the US is Kia or Hyundai.
@Ragref well europeans will say the same thing back. american cars are not uber reliable and get awful fuel efficiency compared to their other counterparts. you cant really say european or jap cars are crap without like 250k miles on one model from each company, which ofcourse is difficult. american vehicles are for different purposes.
@jimmyhoffa9 im not that kind of car guy with suspension, acel, etc i just judge cars by its model and quality, so explain that in a nooby way please.
@Ragref explain what? :P you judge cars by quality, well theres tons of non american cars you'll like then. generally europeans who look down on american cars are really far up their own ass.
@jimmyhoffa9 Jaguars are wonderful, I love landrovers too, Bentley, for a VW owned brand its pretty good, RollsRoyce, OH MY GOD I LOVE THAT BRAND. I LOVE IT SOO MUCH. I don't care if its owned by BMW, ITS WONDERFUL. And Maybach, IIIIIII LOOOOOOOOVE IT SOOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH I DONT CARE IF ITS OWNED BY MERCEDES I STIIIIIIL LOOOOOOVE IIIIT and there is korean brands, wonderful I love them.
@ 3:06 OMG, is he completely stupid? he put them down wrong. of course they fold neatly flat to the floor, thats why it's called the ford fold flat system... :/
I like the new swooping side windows combined with the understated rear wing, the small fins on the sides too, nice design touches. it's certainly the best looking mpv out there imo. but the front skirts are far too big and shouty, it makes it look weird, I hope thats an extra.... afterall it's still an mpv and not a supercar.. there are limits.
One person tells his opinion about one thing, which in this case is an American car brand, and we all now, at least I know, that if you say something most American don't agree with, you'll hear it. God Damn you'll hear it! They're now attacking Atheistprimate because he talked negative about Ford. Why don't we just ban European stuff in the US? Please! I bet that just for saying this, I will be busy replying comments tonight. Oh yeah!
@MacGyver920 typical americans? I've gotten 20 europeans in rapid succession calling me ignorant because I once mixed up two parts of the world that sounded similar and I was careless. Not a typical american thing at all, it's a typical youtube thing.
@mustsilm Because its illegal to use it while driving in most Western countries. The Bluetooth will still work, but at least you know you won't be sidetracked and it'll be safe from kiddie hands.
I hate Ford for being an American company who refuses to sell most of their interesting cars in the USA. They stick us with the pig iron garbage like the Mustang and F150.
@Atheistprimate Well, this car is fully developed in germany, by european engineers for european market. Thats the reason why its not sold on US market, it has nothing to do with american division of ford, same goes for all fords sold in europe. The only european fords sold in US are fiesta and focus, nothing else.
@Atheistprimate You must understand that Ford is a very unique company in that its split into more divisions... like american division, australian division and european division. And even though all cars share the ford brand, they develop their cars separately (american and australian division share some parts like engines, but european is completely separate), thats why european fords are nothing like american fords, its like looking at 2 completely different, separated car companies.
@derbigpr500 Ford Australia is doomed, shame the Falcon is a good car, sharing some parts with US models but not enough to warrant production for a country with a small production and little in the way of exports.
The next one I think will be an American model; as the Falcon was when first introduced in Australia in 1960.
@Atheistprimate Those 3 divisions have always been completely different in philosophy of car making. American and Australian Fords have always been slightly leaning towards muscle cars and/or trucks. European ford on the other hand has always been related to motor sports, rallying, racing, etc., they always made great driving cars....that why new european fords drive so well, because their engineers have experience with making rally and racing cars. And looks / quality are on european standards.
@TheTonicro You Americans only drive American and Asian cars, and because you hate Europe, you don't drive European cars or like anything else that's European.
@2Kriss2Kross Yes I have, and no you won't. God Damn, man. The only thing common on American roads are AMERICAN and ASIAN (Japanese, South Korean) CARS! The only thing the average American would ever want to own, is an American car. The only thing you Americans use are either American or Asian cars. The only thing you see in TV shows, movies and documentaries are AMERICAN or ASIAN cars. You don't really like ANYTHING that's European.
@MacGyver920 If that is true why is BMW the best selling luxury brand in the US???? You watch too much damn TV, since you cite television shows and movies as your resources. If you ever actually come to the US you will see a bunch of Euro cars, just like that other guy was trying to tell you. You bring this bullshit up every time Matt reviews a car with an American badge on it.
@MacGyver920 Like I said I actually live in the US and I see European cars everyday, and have family members that own Euro cars. I'm trying to have my next car be a Volvo, so yeah that's how it is and end of story.
@datboiwes333 Wooo!!!! Make sure to get a Polestar power upgrade from Volvo! It comes for the C30/S40/V50/C70/S60/XC60/XC70/S80!!! The 5 cylinder T5s get 23 more HP and 30 extra pound feet, the 6 cylinder T6s get 25 more HP and 30 extra pound feet. T5+250 HP & 273 pounds feet of torque and T6s= 325 HP and 355 pounds feet of torque. All without messing up warantee and not reducing MPGs!
@Poler777 Uhh like I said... just google the top selling luxury brand in the US, it has been BMW since 2008. The 1 & 3 series have helped a lot with that.
@MacGyver920 In the middle part of America you are correct. Most people in the mid-west buy either American cars or Japanese cars. But on the coastal cities of America (NYC-LA-Seattle-Miami-ect.)we wouldn't be caught dead in an American car. American cars have very low status amongst us "Blue State" people. I can personally say that there are a shitload of new Audi A4's and A6's in NYC right now. The new 5 series is also selling really well over here.
@Atheistprimate you know nothing sir. ford is not american anymore. it has been split in two distinct companys. one is american and makes "ford mustags" (ewww..), the other one is german, and makes fine cars.
@Atheistprimate While I REALLY agree with you about Ford in general, the Mustang is a steal for the price.
It has a 300hp BASE V6 engine, 36 (imperial) mpg, with great new updated looks. Yet Mustangs start at $22,500 (14,400UK) and a nicely equipped one goes for $25k (16k UK pounds). Note that a Focus in Britain STARTS around 14k UK. Mustang > Focus.
@Atheistprimate You've misunderstood my fried. You see, some Fords are made in Europe for the European market, and some are in the US for the American market. Cars like the Ford Mondeo, the Ford Focus, Ford Fieste and these MPV's are made in Europe, and they're mainly for the European market. Cars like old Mustangs, and large pick-up trucks, are made in the US. But there are also European cars that are made in the US. BMW X3, X5 and X6 (all their SUV's) are some examples.
@MacGyver920 In Australia we have a mix of european, american and australia designed fords. We have the fiesta, focus, mondeo, escape, territory(australian built 7 seater suv) and falcon (australian built sedan) we dont get the smax or cmax people movers because we have the territory
@Atheistprimate to me i think ford give europe awsome mini vans.because here in america ford has some box look thing that looks like its a mail truck ford has some good cars but they are mostly big strong crossovers over regular crossovers but they are expensive i do ilke the ford mondeo and galaxy in europe i wish they had them here but this is how i feel when i european company gives europe the good cars and give is a runned down version of it
Is the S-Max larger and more expensive than the C-Max? Ford was supposed to sell the C-Max in the U.S. But for some reason, Ford decided not to. BOOO!!!!
