If you bothered reading the other comments you'd realize the lack of tripod wasn't because I couldn't afford one. It was because there was no room to set up a tripod.
And jerks that complain about the camera are irritating too!!!!!!!!! Go make your own video of Tim in action and stop complaining. I've yet to see anyone else even bother to make an attempt.
@jainitai : Why are you getting pissed off man? It's a technical fault which I have told you! If you can't take suggestions, or get irritated so often you should take a meditation dude! He is an awesome artist , no doubt about that, I only suggested as a viewer dude! Keep patience!! Chill !
I wasn't pissed off. It's just annoying when people don't take 2 minutes to read the other comments and I have to answer the same question over and over again. And it's annoying that people complain about the quality, yet no one else is going out and making videos of Tim drawing.
@jainitai : HI! Why didn't you use tripod to avoid camera jerks? It is obvious if you shoot by holding the camera, the jerk will come every time! hope to see some more videos but on a tripod hahaha, cheers mate! Kep shooting and best wishes!
Tim didn't hire me to do this. I'm just a fan. This was a spontaneous set up on a crowded convention floor where I was cramped up against a wall and being run into and bumped by people. Deal with it.
@MyananPow I'd say the one thing a good sable-hair brush has going for it is the variety of marks you can make with it, with nibs you're pretty much just drawing straight lines or should I say in one DIRECTION (obviously not with all nibs--mostly crowquills)...so yeah you never have to swap tools to make teeny-tiny marks and bold swathes but personally I find it more difficult to ink with a SABLE brush than a synthetic...the two behave completely differently. But I'm in a "nib" phase at the mo'!
Not a whole lot of "tools" being used here. Just India ink and a sable hair brush (#2 I believe). It might even be a synthetic sable brush. At the end he adds some detail with a Micron Pigma ink pen. That's about it.
This is how a lot of comic book art is done, i.e. - pencil and then ink and then color. Yes, it is a lot of work. That's why you have to be super passionate about it in order to succeed in the comic book industry, because you have to draw, draw, draw like 20 hours a day. You basically eat, sleep and breathe drawing.
Here's my previous reply to the "tripod" comments:
I thought we were done with all these "get a tripod" comments. If you had read the other comments here I explained why the camera was shaky. I wouldn't have even had room to set up a tripod. I was leaned up between a wall and TIm's chair with people constantly bumping into me on my right. It was cramped and crowded and this was the best I could do. If you don't like it then make your own gottdam video and stop bitching!
I can't figure out what you're saying. Is this Portuguese? Are you saying something about "balancing" the "filming" of this video? If so, I've already responded to such comments...several times.

Sorry. Just now seeing this comment. I didn't draw this. Tim Vigil did. And yes, he just inks over the pencils, as many comic book inkers do. The ink doesn't mix with the pencil. It covers it and seals it underneath. The excess pencil can then be erased, usually with a kneaded eraser, so as not to remove any ink.
Tim Vigil is a wonderful artist. I met him about 14 years ago at the Dallas Comicon. He did not have a lot to say, but he can rock with that pencil and brush
No, I didn't personally commission that piece. It was for someone else that stopped by his table.
You can always get something from him at a show or if you can't make it to a show, just contact him online or via email. Just look above in a previous post for a website address.

He's a very one-note artist. He's like Wolverine: he's the best there is at what he does. Unfortunately that's about it.
Dude are you serious!? Jim Lee is not overrated. He's a penciler, inker and he use water colors better than some of the best colors. Tim Vigil is good and master inker in an old school type of way but Jim has evolved you idiot he spots way more blacks and he can actually draw.
I'm not saying that Jim Lee can't draw or paint or make good art, but his art looks like the same as it did 15 years ago. Just because he scribbles some black ink on the page with a dry brush or throws some white-out on the ink doesn't mean he's "evolving". He was doing that back with Deathblow.
Everyone says, "Tim Vigil is old school" or that his style is "from the 80's", but it's just not true. Have you even seen some of his most current work?
So you mean Vigil has evolved? Jim's style like many other comic artist hasnt changed, but dont get that confused with his evolution as an artist. Look at his layouts, his story structure he has evolved as an artist. plus he's fast.
Yes, Tim Vigil has evolved. Compare the work he was doing in '94 with the work he's doing now in '09 you can literally see HOW he's evolved in terms of composition, anatomy, brushwork, detail, balance, harmony, line work, etc.

Yeah, well, you have to keep in mind I was standing amidst a crazy, hectic crowd of people. I didn't have the space to set up a tripod, so obviously there was going to be some "shakiness". Add to that the speeding up of the film and it becomes even more noticable. Hopefully in the near future we can set up a more professional video, but until then this'll have to do.
Every time I try to put a link in this reply it won't post. Weird. You can get original Tim Vigil art from him directly at a comic book convention. Also you can sometimes find stuff on Ebay. There's also a website, but I can't link to it, where you can request commissions. Send me a message and I'll give you the link.
Yeah, that's the address up there in the previous post. But I had to break it all up, so it's not really a link, but I'm sure you can figure out how to type it into the address bar. ;^)
Nothing wrong with doing sculptures... Personaly cant stand making them. But they are nice to look at and thats what art is all about... Dont deny it!
I'm not even sure what the intention of this comment is. Why are you brining Conan's sexuality into question? :^P
And you mean that Tim should use Photoshop to ink? Why? He seems to do just fine the way he's doing things now. And keep in mind: this is a CONVENTION SKETCH done in 25 minutes, not a labor of love with hours and days spent on it. So yeah.
I'm not sure what number it is. Looks like a 2, though. And I don't remember him using a "crow-quill pen". I think he used a black micron (pigma) pen for the small details at the end. And I don't know if he always uses that at the end; probably just uses it when he feels like it.
