Ottey never "fled" the World Championships - she withdrew just like all athletes whose samples come back positive do, probably in part due to pressure from IAAF.

Ottey was then cleared of all charges and re-instated in time for the 2000 Olympics where she came in 4th but should probably get the silver after cheats Marion and Jones and Ekaterini Thanou are struck from the books.

Yeah, the U.S. is larger, and it shows in the medal count. I just don't understand the need to put down another country's success when your country experiences some success. I always rooted for Jamaica to be successful because I admired their athletes who didn't have the advantages of the athletes from Eastern Europe and the U.S. but still performed admirably. This race is simple, ottey won fair and square according to iaaf rules (torso over line etc...)its obvious from the photo finish, look for other vids and you will see these, how devers was awarded is beyond me, and im saying that in the nicest possible way.

She wasn't robbed on either occasions. Devers won in 93' and she won here So get over it. What let's Merlene down is her start. It's not particularly bad but Dever's start is ALWAYS exceptional, so Merlene always plays catch up. 50 metres more of the race Devers would've probably ended up 3rd, with Ottey still 2nd cus Torrence would've come thru to take 1st place. But it's a 100metre race and Devers is the winner. And rightfully so. And a great athlete she is too.

Gail Devers is not only my favorite track athlete of all time, but my favorite athlete of all time. Her talent and personality puts her on a whole other level, which you don't see too much in athletes nowdays. If anyone else has vids with her in them, feel free to let me know. Thanks!
