The U.S has a similar feel good story, Donald Braswell came in 4th on AGT last year. On his first audition he came out in a crumpled business suit and the crowd was mocking him like they did Susan and America was worse, they started booing him, but instead of running off the stage, he kept singing and his voice is a God given gift that turned the crowd around to where they were giving him a standing ovation like they did Susan. Susan's voice has a very special quality - find it hard to put my finger on it, but it does indeed send shivers down the spine. Maybe it's the absolute purity, the crystal clearness, the lack of trills, fancy bits etc. - she just sings it to us straight, and how great that is! Hope she stays this way.

I don't know what Susan Boyle has. But she sent "shivers up my spine" listening to this.

Maybe it's because she actually is so genuine. From the treatment of the song, to the emotion she conveys. You actually feel she means every word !

I am pleased I was not there - Susan did brilliantly but the audience were not interested in listening - it was painful to try to hear the peformance. Fairly mindless, but in no way a reflection on Susan's performace which seemed excellent.

geoffshumba--this audience was psyched--not just for her but for all the performers--it was as someone noted in another post the difference between a rock audience crowd and a west end play crowd--people who go to see Susan Boyle alone will probably be very quiet during the performance but this crowd was for every performer there. the Diversity crowd would be far more raucus and i think the whole crowd was psyched up. she seems to have handled this crowd beautifully.

thanks for the post, Susan sounds wonderful, better than ever. The tour has been a good opportunity for her to prepare for the reality of her new life. The moments in the video when she cannot be heard are when the crowd is truly raving, but obviously they hear her loud and strong. I feel so foolishly struck by every performance. They should let her sing Cry Me a River....everyone already has a recording.
