@chevroletking247 yea but normally they dont blow up like this >_> .... this is just the result of menthenal or some other type of fuel they where using and maybe nitrous... then leaned out due to not much air flow and poped... because of fuel made it pop really bad lolz.... turbos do better in this situation do to constant force of air flow

im a little confused, i remember this incident being a huge debate back when it happened, i was reading the arguments for months in Performance Car Magazine and the outcome is that his clutch/pressure plate/flywheel setup came apart at very high revs, so why does everyone accuse him of blowing his engine? if anything, his engine is so hardout that it made his flywheel setup break apart, right? because it actually survived didnt it?

the high pitched noise is the clutch getting too hot then the crack is the pressure plate going through the bellhousing after shearing the bolts holding it on. quite common in the early rotaries as they didnt have studs in the flywheel to strengthen it.

A rotary can make that high pitched squeal before it blows. The loud crack at the end is probably the e-shaft breaking and when a rotary blows 9 times out of 10 there is always fire. In short mj23polairs this is what you see when any rotary lets go. There are a couple more videos floating around on YouTube of rotaries blowing up and they all look and sound pretty much the same as this video.
