The only logical explanation for the use of the term anzalna that is consistent with all its occurrences in the Quran is to denote something provided by a deity, mechanism unknown.
To selectively assign origination from supernovae to iron but not cattle, garments, food,& the people of the book, without evidence as to why one should use the literal versus the figurative interpretation is mere supposition, or special mystical interpretation, & thus utter nonsense.
One cannot overstate that it is intellectually dishonest to assign a literal interpretation to a certain case but figurative interpretations in every other case without the evidence to support such distinction.
The truth is that most such Islamist claims are made by Islamists ignorant of prior knowledge by other peoples. All the non-Muslims should really look into Islam, and get some basic knowledge of it, you will realize it is the truth.
The Quran talks about planets orbiting one another BEFORE the telescope was even invented, it even talks about the development of the fetus which was thousands of years ago, scientists haven't found this out til only a few hundred years ago or even less.

THE MIRACLE OF IRON
Iron is one of the elements highlighted in the Quran. In Surat al-Hadid, meaning Iron, we are informed:
And We also sent down iron in which there lies great force and which has many uses for mankind (Quran, 57:25)

The word anzalna, translated as sent down and used for iron in the verse, could be thought of having a figurative meaning to explain that iron has been given to benefit people

- for the people of the book, the verse clearly says "caused them to go down from their fortresses" i.e. literal
- water/rain clearly does "come down"
- It never says "food" is sent down, it says "sustenance"
The following however do seem figurative
-"mann" & "salwa"
- cattle
- garments
So yes, one shouldn't jump on this alone and make a huge deal of it. But it is very interesting that it agrees with modern science nonetheless.

There is a false parallelism between the descent of sunrays and rain and that of iron in the Quran. This is a false parallelism because of two reasons: first, the Islamic scripture does nowhere teach that the sun rays are sent down; second, the literal descent of rain in the Quran is not identical with what is meant by the physical descent of iron as pointed out in the astronomical findings highlighted by Yahya.

There was no "Heaven" and "Earth" at the Big Bang. Ibn Abbas gives a different meaning to the words "ratqq" and "fatqq". Look up Ibn Katheer, according to him Ibn Abbas interprets this as "barren/dry" and "made fertile/wet" respectively.
Furthermore, why does the Qur'aan speak of seven heavens? Why does the next verse claim that mountains prevent earthquakes

Does it mean that cattle, garments, food, and the people of the book also come from supernovae? No. So, why assume that surah 57:26 literally states that iron came from outer space? Why assume the literal meaning with respect to iron but the figurative meaning when referring to everything else? The only logical explanation for the use of the term anzalna that is consistent with all its occurrences in the Quran is to denote something provided by a deity, mechanism unknown.

The truth is that most such Islamist claims are made by Islamists ignorant of prior knowledge by other peoples. The iron sent down from heaven proposition is not distinct to Islam nor was the Islamic version the earliest. The ancient Egyptians referred to iron as iron from heaven. Thus the concept of iron from outer space/heaven/sky was already known to humanity thousands of years before Islam.

well, it is very cute that you go through ancients and show that some of them here and there knew modern facts. You neglect to mention that they also believed many falsehoods, none of which are in the Quran.
E.g. look up preformationism, the ancient idea prevalent till the 18th century that babies grow from tiny babies in the sperm. The Quran however clearly shows that the form of the baby develops from a tiny clinging thing, to a "chewed" lump, then later gets its form

The Islamists all conveniently ignore the first stage which is DUST. What does it correspond to in the modern Embryology? I know some Islamists would claim the dust to be metaphorical. Where is the evidence for that? If the dust is metaphorical, then the other stages should also be metaphorical, in the absence of evidence to differentiate between metaphorical and literal phrases.
