I love this age. I have only one complaint though: If those winding things down there are really rivers, then the pillars rising from the ground would have to be miles and miles apart. Not half a mile, as suggested by the cables.
Also Sven, if you are in the same universe (with the same physical laws) then no matter where you are in the universe, everything is the same on large scales. I think the cosmology terms are isotropy and homogeneity - don't quote me on that though :)
Todelmer and Noloben were both slated for Uru Live which is why both Ages are in this game. Most likely they were both complete enough that Cyan decided to reuse them but it has been explained that the puzzles were redesigned for Myst V.
I think for all this game's flaws, the designers did pretty good at making it nonlinear. You could either play it either way you suggested and it feels like a natural progression. Although, I think Esher says that part of "returning to the tunnels" at the end of whichever Age you complete first, not just Tahgira. (Love these let's plays btw, love em!)
i woud have tought that the sky is the void you enter when you fall into a star fissure...anyway, still breath taking

The giant planet more resembles Uranus than Saturn.

Does anyone else find Esher's voice to be slightly blown out in this Age? The levels seem off somehow...

This Age is my favorite one in the game as well. Absolutely breathtaking. Would be nice if you could visit that planet in the sky too.
