  • I LOVE HER

  • This is so fucking cheesy I could barely watch it all.

  • jk rowling has a scottish accent, not english

  • The person who plays Jo in this is all wrong and she can't act, Jo just wouldn't act like that.

  • really good! But so American:L A lot of it doesn't seem as accurate as it should, and JK Rowling does seem to behave the way the film portrays her too.

  • HP is more than just a children's book.

  • Although this may be a biography of one of the greatest authors of our age, I can honestly say it did not have any of the harry potter magic or feel to it. Maybe if this was an official biography, one would be able to make the relation of JK Rowling and the magic world of harry potter, focusing better on how the ideas were first inspired and how they then manifested into such an amazing set of books. Dissapointed unfortunately.

  • and they said 'public school' which annoyed me. Public schools here are private/independant schools.

  • shes such an inspiration! i love her!! <3

  • This is ok. Inspiring but has so many inaccuracies. The story isn't correct, the accents are awful, British schools aren't like that (professor? what even?), you don't 'graduate' from schools here only uni, sweet trolley on a train would never happen. Blehhhh all of it. It's nice though.

  • For the record. this IS NOT a Channel 5 production! It was made by the Lifetime Network in America, so stop slanting Channel 5 when they only aired it! Jeez!

  • JK Rowling's story deserved a lot better execution than Channel 5 and the American did on this. Not only will the story be full of inaccuracies but there were the most simple inaccuracies that were so careless:

    1. The character used the word "daycare" several times. Its called playgroup or nursery in the UK. Daycare is the american term.

    2. It was quite obvious the entire story was not actually filmed in Edinburgh. Its full of casual Edinburgh city camera shots but the actual scenes with.. con.

  • @Binnericht Joanne contains LONDON buses which there is none of in Edinburgh and the train station scene is literally nothing like Haymarket or Waverley the only 2 stations she would have come into in Edinburgh. Also there is no street called Potters Row.

    3. The Scottish accents are absolutely appalling especially that of JK Rowlings current husband

  • Wurgh bad accents! The woman in the Department of Social Security office who said about her 2nd baby was talking with a bad irish accent not a scottish one!! FUMING!! Hate bad accents!

  • is this a piss take?

  • wow, i never thought that someone could go through all that ans still come out on top!

  • I think this is getting way too much hate, I for one thought they did a pretty good job. The important parts were conveyed very well and was very moving. People looking for the exact life of J.K Rowling won't be satisfied unless channel 5 go back in a time machine and record her every movement, and there is no pleasing those kinds of people. Have an open mind and try to appreciate the story, instead of getting annoyed by insignificant details. Harry Potter forever <3

  • haha i love harry potter but this was retarded

  • So obviously an American production; that sweet trolley on a British train, you're more likely to find an albatross. Amusing anyway.

  • This enrtire thing is so bad :L

  • 0:22:30 A legacy is born. :)

  • OhMyGosh the accents are terrible!

  • amazing

  • just read others comments and felt like deleting my previous comment on how great it was.i don't care who made it, but its your name your life story and i don't think so anyone can make a story about it without ur permission and contain lies.anyway loved it! so plz write a story about ur inspiration, no lies and i don't have to know the personal truth. i will be really great full to read and inspire from it as i write short stories or use to and it will help me to write again

  • (loved it! )^3 you just made me wanna write something any thing. your book made a imaginative world and your biography showed me that their is no end for imagination and stories don't pop out of thin air you need to be inspired and experience it. felt sad for what you struggled for but felt that if you love something and follow your heart you may get it. also learnt to follow what i love and don't hear any one else

PS: loved it keep on writing and i will keep on reading it like a million times

  • i really want them to make a part 2

  • I think they based this off her wikipedia...

  • Mini JK Rowling sounds like Hermione XD AW

  • like the William and Kate film we had at the royal wedding this film was made by America's who don't really understand British culture and want to absorb our culture in to their own.

  • That was incredible! Very emotional too :)

  • Oh my god.

When she was a kid, The film showed me the feelings I get, People call me swot for speaking 'posh' and for answering lots of questions.

  • THIS IS WACK!

  • The Scottish accents in this are appalling. If they were going to portray Scottish people they should have got got scottish actors and actresses.

Classic Channel 5- cutting corners and making things crap.

  • Over sentimental as hell... but i also enjoyed it immensely.... and yes very inspring! :)

  • This was really sweet and inspiring, and all, but it's ridiculously inaccurate... and that dude wearing a goblin mask at the Dole Office at 1:00:26? Laughable.

  • Just One Word... Inspiring

  • One of the main reasons I don't like this is because Channel 5 made it. Everyone knows Channel 5 can't ever make anything good to save their fat arses. It's also horribly inaccurate. JK Rowling probably disapproves.

  • Oh the accents... *cringe*

  • How can you expect people to watch or believe this? to put inaccurate ideas people's minds. based on what exactly? Do it right. Ask Jo

  • @hermione307 we have a very differen't idea of what disgraces the name of wizard, hermione307

  • Just got to say, they messed up BIG. when she gets the copy of the book at the end, surely it should be the young wizard picture on the back...not dumbledore (as dumbledore appeared on later copies) also, bloomsbury didn't take the book right away. it was Ted Smart first.

  • I know this is an unauthorised biography, but it would have been nice if the writers and directors had actually done an ounce of research into the material. The book, not that I have read it, probably has some credibility, but this is pretty awful. The dramatisation of it all is so cringe worthy, and the completely unrealistic dialogue is annoying. I live near Tutshill, and went to Wyedean, and the portrayals are garbage, and I know its set in the 80s, but still, no thought was put into this.

  • The Scottish accents are the most diabolical I have ever heard...couldn't they get real Scot actors? Worse than Scotty is star trek.

  • Why did they have to make it so cheesy? Some of it's ok, it's just to unrealistic and 'americanised' if that makes sense. Why can't anything good come on Channel 5 for once?

  • This English accents in this are pitiful

  • cried and laughed so many times through this, my mum was called anne too(':

  • I honestly don't know why I watched this... but I think I quite liked it!

  • 14:05 wow just wow, i have now idea why i'm even watching this, so bad...

  • omg what the hell is this?? she seems nothing like joe, and half of it is obviously made up.... it's all way to dramatised as well i can't stand it i thought it was going to be a documentary...

  • Most of this is completely made up, how anyone can think this the details in this are at all accurate, it's dramatised.

  • i know she always said she was like hermione, totally see it now :)

  • "Your such a weasly guy" *CRINGE*

That couldn't be the best way to portray that scene.

  • Did anyone see that at 59:37 it said 'Thd Sorting hat' and not 'The Sorting hat'?

  • @JessicaLeighAdams Yeah mwhahaha

  • @JessicaLeighAdams it supposed to be like that, shes on a typewriter meaning if she misspells something she cant change it. she hit d instead of e

  • 0:43:31 Bit harsh

  • @PoppyProductions24 I know, right?

  • I really did love this, it made me cry but... it said at the beginning of the film 'unauthorized biography', so not only did J.K not make it but she didn't even want it made. I'm sorry but that made me distrust just about everything in the film, coz there's no proof that was what actually happened in her life. So that slightly ruined it for me.

    It was still amazing though!

  • @misspierce313 But it is understandable as this movie covers the split from her first husband and the death of her mother. you can't blame Jo for wanting to protect her daughter Jessica.

  • @misspierce313 exactly...and i love how many americanisms slipped in. the english accents are awful. at least the woman who played Jo when she was older was actually pretty good.

  • @misspierce313 its based on the biography that JK rowling made! These guys dont go around making stuff up!

  • @misspierce313 or it means the account is subjective and unbias

  • @misspierce313 I know how you feel. The was an authorised one made back in 2007 called 'A year in the life' its really good and truthful because J.K Rowling actually agreed to it.

  • @ronicrazy Ohh, i remember thats but i never got to watch it. I missed it as my family were busy watching some thing else ¬.¬ & as if they said you're never going to become a writer :O Lool !!

Anway i should stop babbling 'Do you know anywhere i can watch it'????

thanks, *family humour* btw, nets lagging & sorry for the spell and so.

  • @K8Nena9 It is available on youtube, its called J.K Rowling a year in the life, it is fairly easy to find just type that exact title in, its obviously in several parts so make sure you watch the videos from the same uploader, (just a heads up). have fun, its really emotional. :)

  • you've got to be shitting me.

  • thumbs up if u r the 323rd viewer

  • @040898ali lm the 323rd viewer

  • @040898ali

    i AM!

  • This is the most inspiring thing i've seen in a long time. Might even have given me the kick up the arse I need to finish my owl bloody book. XD

  • Awesome!!

  • that was really good :)

  • I really like it!

  • @AtomicGames101 She is English

  • You're a bit of a twat if you don't know that she's English. Get off youtube and look it up on Wikipedia.

  • I've been lucky enough to meet Jo twice and she is honestly one of the nicest people i've ever met. She inspires so many people and never lets any of the fame or fortune go to her head. The legacy of Harry Potter will never die. "It's real for us"

  • I loved this, it really did show you exactly how and why she wrote the Harry Potter books.

  • i wuv you!
