  • hi again!

thanks for your tips! I found the ustream channel, and now I can follow along as you do yours...fantastic! Continue the good work, it sure inspires a lot of us!

    Take care!

    Jo

  • hi Kathryn! I would love to make that paper album but i sure have a few questions for you...eventhough I watch your videos and tutorials over and over, I am still a little confused here, where do I begin? Should I decorate the bags before starting to glue the flaps and things? or after everything is glued? you mentioned that i could use eyelets, but I realised that one side of the eyelet looks better than the other side...what do you do then? thanks for your help! Jo :)

  • @jozazoo You glue the flaps down after all the bags have been covered with paper. I covered all the bags, flaps, etc., with paper and then glued the flaps into pockets. Then I did the embellishing. As for eyelets, the front of the eyelet will always look better than the back. That's just the nature of the product, unfortunately. I put the front of the eyelet on the front of the paper bag so it will be consistent throughout. I hope that helps!

  • I went to Ustream to watch your videos, but it said nothing is archived and showed that there is nothing scheduled.

  • @Merfrmtx My UStream name and YouTube name are different. I put links to the recordings for this paper bag in the description on this video, so you can click those and it will take you to the right place! Sorry for the confusion.

  • Hi Quick question - for the little tag attached to the pocket with the paperclip - do you back these with anything ? Thanks!!!!

  • @99Alexj99 Yes, I backed the little diecut with ledger paper so I could write on the back.

  • Beautiful mini! Love the papers!! TFS!!

  • pulling my hair out over those dcwv stacks as i cant find them here in the uk, if anyone knows if/when they will be available or anyway i can get them id appreciate hearing from you, thx Jo

tfs ... i think.... i need those stacks lolol

  • @J0anne2403 I can't say for sure, but my guess is that these stacks will be very similar to the Mariposa paper stack. It was available only in the US in JoAnn's store for a time, but it eventually was sold Internationally as well. In the meantime, you could check eBay for these paper pads to see if anyone is selling them there. :D Good luck on the hunt!

  • I went & checked out the peacock paper-ughhhh! My hubby & I were giggling about it. I ended up getting two packs you did. When we were checking out, the girl behind the counter was telling us how much sh loved the new papers, especially the peacocks! We ha a hard time keeping straight faces. Thanks again for showing these papers. I love them. JIL

  • Thanks for the tip on the Joanne's paper. Had not seen that and the paper colors are yummy!

  • I always loooooove your projects!!! thanks for making such awesome videos!

  • Beautiful Kathryn! I was wondering where you find your extra large book rings? An office supply store? Thanks so much for sharing your beautiful work and the link to your class! I love your tags!

  • @MsKathy07 Thank you! I love making tags ~ probably my favorite part of making on a mini album. :D Yes, those book rings come from the office supply store. Those are 2" diameter rings shown on the video. You can't always find them in the store, but they almost always have them on their websites.

  • thank you for sharing

  • Enabler!!! Thank you!

  • I really love that you kindly show your albums later with the photos in too and am also looking forward to the one you do for your husband. I'd love to do something special for my husband and son, and need the inspiration you provide. Thanks for sharing your projects with us all.xx

  • Love the Flora and Fauna mini. Love that tattered Time paper, too. How will I ever be able to resist it?

    Lela

  • Okay, fess up ~ which one of you cleared out the JoAnn's on Flagler? :D I went to get myself a spare pad of each so I could stop stressing & they were totally cleared out!

  • Love the paper bag mini. I am still working on my first mini, and after 5 years of crafting you'd think I'd attempt it sooner. Thanks for the great ideas. =)

    Love the haul too!!

    x0, Damaris

  • Kathryn, I love what you have done so far with your newest paper bag mini! I really love the second paper pad too!! Love the sheet music and the tape measures alot!! TFS

  • Classic Beauty. Love that page. I'll be there for the next phase of the Flora and Fauna paperbag album! Thanks again for teaching and sharing, Kathryn...you're the best!

    ~Hope

  • The green rosette trim was the right choice. The flower petals look real. Looking forward to more in this mini.

  • omg did you have to show me that darn paper again woman lol you are goin gto make me have to drive 2 1/2 hours to find it lol

  • @bevbeach6801 Ha ha ~ sorry, Bev! I am sure they will have it online, soon!

  • This album is looking amazing! I've saved all your tutorial videos and once I finish a mini that I'm working on now with Que Sera Sera by K&Co I'll be trying to make your paper bag album. The way you combine the two collections is great!! I'm so bummed that Micheal have great sales, but as I am in Montreal, they don't deliver to Quebec!!! I have to make the drive over the border (about an hour) to the nearest one, or head to Toronto (8 hours away for the Canadian Micheal) I envy you!

  • uhh your mini album is looking pretty good , and ZI am soooo jelous because you got those awesome paper packs , omg I love the tatered one , maybe my joann one day will have em , thanks for sharing

  • @sandraperdomo79 DCWV said they were coming to JoAnn's the first two weeks of April, so I hope yours will have them soon! They're so beautiful!

  • I love watching your videos your lastest paper bag is wonderful. I love those two new paper stacks - do you know if I would be able to get them in the UK?

I can't wait to see your finished album.

    Hugs Tracey x

  • @853twinkle Thank you so much, Tracey! I'm kind of in love with this paper bag. Now I just need to do the rest of them! :D I don't know for sure what will happen with this paper, but if I had to guess, I would say you will eventually be able to get them in the UK. These stacks will probably be like the DCWV Mariposa paper stack. That was also exclusive to JoAnn's for a time, but eventually became widely available.

  • I am loving your flora & fauna book! I love how you combined the two collections. I just happen to have them both. I went to Michael's yesterday & they had most of the flora & fauna embelishments for $1.99 & .99! I went nuts. Thanks for showing us those new DCWV stacks. I'm going to run to JoAnn's today. I hope I can get them. What were the other two stacks like? JIL

  • @stampyra One was "Lemon Flower" ~ grey, yellow & green. Lots of florals, paisley, etc. It was okay but not really my thing. The other one was called "Royal Garden" and if you see it, you should run away screaming! It was horrifying! Tons of photos of creepy peacocks STARING AT YOU & all the papers had this weird coating on them that made them look like plastic. Ewww! Oh, I forgot, there was a fifth one (Performance) which was music themed. Peacock PTSD made me forget about that one until now.

  • YUMMY PAPER PADS... LOVED YOUR USTREAM CLASSES SOOOOO FUNNY... I HEART YOU KATHRYN... YOU ROCK!!!! XOXO

    ANNA

  • OMG these are the two that I want so bad. Still waiting to see these in the online store :(

  • I cant find the papers and so want them. Im going to see if I can find someone to buy them for me as they arent sold here in nz.. Would be awesome for a masculine layout. Tfs...

  • Gorgeous page, love the tag! Did you say only at Joann's those papers? hopefully they will sell them out of Usa too. They look great for a vintage or a grungy style project ;D TFS! Vron

  • Love how your book is coming together Kathryn! It will be fun to see it with actual pictures, so often we see the befores but never the afters, I'll be waiting. Thanks for sharing the new DCWV paks. I will be real interested in seeing what you come up with using them. Patti

  • @nwlady1949 Thanks, Patti! I wish it was coming together faster, but I seriously underestimated how much real estate there is on each bag! I will be using the Tradewinds stack to prepare a travel journal for an upcoming cruise, so that's that one. I want to make the book before I go so I can write in it and collect souvenirs and ephemera and such. Not sure about Tattered Time, but I showed it to my husband to see if he liked it & he did, so I may do something special for him with it.

  • @desdichaedo I'm in the process of one like this, so I understand the time issue. I wish I had reinforced the bags like you did. They really need to be stronger than mine, next time! Oh I'll be waiting for that Travel one for sure! (I may have to go to JoAnns tomorrow, you enabler you, LOL!)

  • wow im going to have to look for tatterd time! asap!! lol i love itt! i couldnt imagine chippong up some of those pages tho! lol would have to find a smaller size then 12x12 lol

  • I love love to watch your videos. You are (at least I think) one of the most talented artists in scrapbooking that I enjoy watching. I have learned a lot from you. Thanks for sharing your talent.

  • @janfrankpurple Thank you so much for your super sweet comment! :D I'm so happy you enjoy watching & that you've picked up some tips and inspiration here.

  • Gorgeous! I love that tiny journal tag on the front!

  • i love your work i always love wheni see you have a new vid. can i make a requesti love the vid you did before your crop showing supplies youpulled for project. i forget when you are doing ustreams i am just a youtuber but when you put out that vid before crop i was able to watch it and really really enjoyed seeing supplies and what you were going to be doing especially papers if want to follow with you

  • @plharr23 Sure! When I am getting ready to start a new album series on UStream, I can do a video where I explain the project coming up and show the supplies that I have pulled to use ~ that will be fun! I will definitely do another YouTube video related to this specific album when I am ready to start UStreaming it again so you will have a head's up! :D

  • I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Flora and Fauna collection at M's. I was going to pick it up today along with the Tattered Time and Tradewinds at J's but I had gotten sooooo much paper today that I decided against it. I guess I'm going to have to go back and pick it up now...you enabler you...tisk, tisk, tisk...LOL. TFS, Mercy

  • Love your little album thus far....very pretty...I was drooling over the papers though especially the 2nd stack...no Joanne's In Canada...:(

  • Love your album Kathryn! It was fun spending time with you Saturday and I hope we can do it again soon! =D

  • @nanajl54 You, too, Janet! :D Can't wait to get together again!

  • Nice. What paper collection did you use? I really like it.

  • @iamgodgirl Thanks! I used the "Flora & Fauna" papers from K & Company and the "Conservatory" papers from 7 Gypsies. They go very well with each other!

  • i love the start of this mini i was so sad to miss the ustream i am really loving the new paper bag album i have to try this one thanks for sharing the new paper stacks at joanns i am loving both of them have an awesome week kathrine

    loves and hugs

    Heather

  • Is adding distress ink while the flowers are wet a better effect?

  • @JenniferNicoleable It's a different effect, not necessarily better. Distress Inks are water soluble, so when you add them while the petals are wet, the ink spreads out further into the petals for a softer effect. It's more subtle, which I liked for this particular project, but it wouldn't necessarily always be the look I wanted.

  • *drool* i went to day and didn't see any :(

  • Another pretty mini. :) Can't wait to see it's progression on ustream.
