Well done video for introducing the members of the public not deeply involved in the energy industry. I will definitely consider showing it for students and other audiences that don't have a great deal of previous knowledge.
energy spills are characteristic for environment-unfriendly societies, like US. In Asian, African, East European and Latin American countries, people are turning off the lights when they are not using a certain room. They use way more non-electrical devices for cleansing and other domestic works and they do not use large, energy-eaters vans for useless promenades (as daily shopping and wandering around). More than that, the US citizens are have huge houses: more than 25 square meters/inhabitant.
A normal person don't effectively use more than 25sqm of habitation area. The rest is spilling the natural resources, pollution and agression against the environment, perpetrated on a daily basis by US citizens. The ultimate contempt that this Americans are doing against the nature is the daily use of large cars. I'll belive that the Americans are involved in energy conservation when they are leaving cars and starting to use bikes and public transportatio. IT will be a good and sincere start !
did you know that iff all the sea caps and glaciers melt the sea level will not rise but stay the same ... i dont want to explain it but put a ice cube in a glass of water, mark the level of water, let it melt and the water level will stay the same... the sea level on earth will not rise if ice sitting on water melts but if ice on land melts into the ocean than the sea levels will rise
look i cant explain it over a comment... whatch this video its called (Lloyd rants about the melting ice cap fallacy) if you cant find the video i subscribed to the guy so he's on my channle but this guy does a wonderfull job explaing his views on this subject
Fossil ice @ the north pole, (gone, as of this year) is not the problem. Until now, it was actually what was holding the big toggle back from switching, by doing its job & cooling Earth's oceans. Deep currents will now slow to a creep, & equatorial temps skyrocket, releasing methane= far worse.
The BIG ice sheet on Greenland & the Antarctic shelf, is ABOVE water. So the "ice cubes" have only begun to melt into "the glass". Now, melting faster than it was thought to be possible & accelerating!
haha your funny .... no science is science and science SAYS that a glacier shows only 10 percent of its body above water...... just like an icecube .... honstley though look at antartica and think about how MUCH ice is below water ..... i recomend you watch this guys video its called Lloyd rants about the melting ice cap fallacy this guy
CFLs like any other fluorescents contains mercury oxide to produce the light so disposal of these lights is a big problem, as we know how toxic mercury is.
use LEDs instead, even can have motion sensor and solar options.
Over the last 50yrs CO2 has risen, the temp of earth's surface up 2degrees, overall temps have lowered.
The kids are watching a schools electric bill. How much education time is lost? Then ppl are going to push "education" as something this country needs?
Y have a dishwasher? Do them by hand! Also when those same ppl replaced their dishwasher, didn't even put an insulation cover on their new water heater.
Come on ppl! Seriously, are you that blind? LOOK THINGS UP FOR YOURSELF! TV OWNS U!
turning a light bulb off for less then 30-60 seconds actually WASTES more electricity turning it back on and it warming up. so yeah if you do leave a room for a few seconds its not as effecient to turn the fucking thing off. did you know 1,000's of years ago the earth was super cold and had an ice age? and since then it has warmed MANY degrees past 2. and yet life is still going. ever heard of planetary cycles? not saying we ARNT hurting earth but not as bad as ppl think
actually no. mythbusters is where i got the info from. unless the light is an led it is better to leave it on for a few seconds. kinda like a car engine. turning it off to get out of the car for 30 seconds then back on it takes MORE gas to start the engine then just letting it idle for a few seconds. so. wanna be pothead pay attention next time you watch a show and dont be such a bacon makin homo.
Ok, so ur argument is when energy when not in use becomes unefficient. Ur right, same thing with an electric motor, but you totally missed the point of my comment. The number one thing ppl in the septic tank (america) wants is better education which will come from tax dollars. The money that they are saving won't be anything close to save the day.

What you are talking about is water displacement. However, the earth is no the same as your glass of water. The water will rise...

Do you know how much frozen water is above sea level? Nearly all of it.
Looks like I just destroyed your theory.

That's actually not true, btw. It was disproven on mythbusters and a couple other programs recently. Turning it off is ALWAYS better.

very inciteful video. Good information and has a good message. Just have to get people to listen and pay attention

Paying attention would be to realize that the Energy Star items that you buy are not all ISO 14001 certified, nor are their suppliers.
