ADV lost the rights to Kanon and now Funimation has the rights. They worked out a deal to keep the dub, which is great.

ADV's dubbing studio is mostly gathering dust right now. Patton is working with Funimation more now and will be in Baccano volume 4.

I have seen both the dub and sub of this anime and feel the dub outdoes the sub on all aspects.

Blame ADV for the mispronounce of Haruhi. They made the trailer back when they still had rights to Kanon, Funi just saved some scratch by using it so they could license more anime.

That aside, it's a pretty good trailer since the story really is about Yuichi reconnecting with his past and trying to help the girls. Kanon is my #1 favorite anime.  The dub is awesome too. Possibly the last Jessica Boone performance since she moved out of Texas.

i just finished the series s-CRY-ed and thought that this anime was related to it because of the whole "I'm dreaming" thing. if any of you saw s-CRY-ed (2001 anime is old) then you know what I'm talking about. unfortunately i never heard of Kanon and everyone is saying it's good (besides everyone else commenting on the narrator guy lol) guess i'll look into it

Easily one of the best anime series ever created, if not THE best. And clearwater04, you stopped a few episodes too soon -- the first several episodes are basically just introducing the characters. Once you get through at least episode 10, then you can start making judgments on Kanon.

Even if it's a sub only, you shouldn't stick to the fansub for that reason.

In terms of the video, I find it funny how they pronounce Haruhi's name, 'cause it's like they switched the first 2 vowels.

Fansubs of licensed anime (and some unlicensed) is what's hurting the industry. "thank u very much"-I don't think they're going to be all "amicable" with that kind of statement.

If it weren't for fansubs, Anime wouldn't be so well known in western countries, and Most series that do get licensed these days, would never have the chance of getting licensed at all. Fansubs help create the western fanbase of an anime series, which in turn encourages companies to license them, seeing as there's clear evidence that they can make some money out of it. I don't support people who refuse to buy the DVDs, but generally saying Fansubs is hurting the industry is going a bit far.

Just for the record, I know I said that I wouldn't buy the DVD and that I would stick to my fansubs but I guess u could say that I kinda had a change in heart... I did buy the yesterday (even tho it was shitty and had basically NO special features on it except op/ed credit-less and previews and horrible looking menus plus the designs on the DVD case...) I still bought it because I like Clannad THAT much... but if they ever stamp a dub on it I would gladly buy it again!
