I miss this place so much. I went up there for a couple of summer about 6 years ago. What a blast to have in your early 20's. Best memories ever! I hope to find myself back there at some point. Have you guys ever went back?
There's $20billion gold still under the mountain gravels there. It's now worth it to extract the gold again with gold at $1500, so expect another economic boom for the area.
Travelling your great country in June for a year, just discovered this place today looks an amazing place to stay sort of reminds me of a wild west town and the surroundings look incredible.
Yeah -55F,but not in the damp cold like we get in Celsius here in Northwestern Europe where -15C with a 20mph breeze brings the nice windchill factor to un-bearable....anyways,how long is the flight from Anchorage to Dawson?...or is it cheaper to Deadhorse?...nice informative video....from a crusading Irishman
I lived there as a child! Right opposite Robert Services Cabin. Accross the street from me was the home where Pierre Burton a Candian author spent his childhood.
This city was my favorite part of an Alaskan tour and cruise I took 3 years ago. Dawson was the only time we left the US. I could have stayed there for days.Just totally love that place. You did a great job of capturing the essence of the town and surrounding area. 5 BIG STARS!
We certainly enjoyed it - in summer! Winter may be a different matter - I asked a taxi driver in Whitehorse how he handled the winters there...his reply was "stay inside and drink lots of beer...it's not cold here anyway, it only gets to minus 45, I come from Dawson and it gets down to minus 55 there!"
What's employment situation like there? Love to live in Dawson. I'm from Hamilton, Ontario and have always dream of living north.

I was Gertie in '88 and '89. Wrote a musical about my impressions about the place and I was changed forever by it. Stunning.
