  • Apple HATES flash for ONE reason only! Flash will cut into their appstore profits by introducing Hundreds of FREE flash online based games!

  • i love adobe and hp if hp make phones i would so be using one. i cant wait to get my hands on one of this.

  • getting the slate but I don't have enough income to get it.

  • YESSSS!!! flash player!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! so i can play my facebook games!!!

btw....does this have a type of its own "app store?"

  • well, you can have flash or you just do have an APP for that. lol.

  • what's that spongebob game called?

  • I'm not anti-apple, I have an Iphone, and after a year of ownership it's limitations really piss me off. I was keen on the ipad, until i saw it's just a big iphone and therefore a total waste of money. Finally someone has made some viable competition. Go HP. You've got more of my money (and no, I won't be buying an iphone 4 either - there's NO improvement)

  • Ipads are useless vanity toys that can only use 25% of the real web fully. The HP slate on the other hand uses Flash so you get the full real web experience and you can actually get real work done on it because it has the solid Windows 7 OS. Buying the Slate! Sorry Steve Jobs you will never imprison me in your increasingly sick controlling apple empire.

  • ipad is way better than hp slate, it seems to work too slow with touch features,

  • This is now released as the HP Slate 500, running Windows 7.

  • U better give it a capacitive touch screen....n multi-touch to make it a HIT!

    We hate resistive screens!

  • as soon as this hits the market people are gunna whine about how gaming sucks on this device

  • 105 people are on Steve Jobs pay roll

  • arent they waiting on the new intel processors?

  • i wish he would just be better at explaing things and be happy about talking about this awesomness slate

  • Funny how they kept plugin obama pics, mau sa tung & NY times all going NOWHERE. GO TO HELL HP, I'm NOT supporting NO LIBERAL AGENDA.. A laptop will do just fine for me along with my 3 pc's..

  • @heetki

Showing pictures of the American president in press is now part of the liberal agenda? You're an idiot.

  • it's funny how this video is hating on Apple...like, 75% of the web is flash...lol yeah, if you do a lot of web-adds surfing. flash player here, flash player there...so funny. html5 is the future and flash will soon go to merely 5% and won't have such a good name anymore. I'm not hating, just saying. I like flash, so please improve it in order to stay on top which doesn't rely on flashy advertisement crounched all over the page in almost all websites nowadays. this video was funny...hahahhaaa

  • @pentanoninux If both devices will eventually be able to load html5 material then isn't it better to go for the device that also plays flash for the time being? I'm not hating, just saying. i don't like the fact that i can't play a video someone posted on facebook from my iPhone because it's in flash. I can't imagine going through that frustration with the iPad and that is exactly why im looking at alternatives.....which is what brought me to this video.

  • Nice! Windows 7... finally a tablet device that wont be useless for IT people and geeks alike. I really hope this happens. The only thing i'd like to see is some sturdy but portable snap-on keyboard. Something similar to the slide-out smart phone keyboards but a little bigger and a more tactile experience. If it could snap onto either side of the device for use in landscape and portrait modes. I'd be set!

  • @gregomhb ummm thats called a laptop.

  • Very slow UI, delayed response to user gestures. Get rid of UI unnecessary bells and whistles.

  • Doesn't anyone know that HP announced that this device will not be introduced into the consumer market?

  • why didnt they keep this os, they switched to win7

  • It's funny how an asian guy chose to do an asian crossword entry.

  • i thought it runs web os not windows 7 ??

  • I HATE İPAD I LİKE SAMSUNG GALAXY

  • funny how this never came out

  • @silenteyesspy Oh, it's coming out, just give it a month.

  • This guy reminds me of Jet Lee!

  • I seems better than the ipad but it looks slow

  • i love to take 1 free

  • "Mao Tse Tung" Guess the slate is made in China.

  • just the fact that the slate will have flash makes it much better than the ipad or iphone

  • ...slow...

  • what this in 34 seconds ^^ ??

  • I hope they can come up next time with something without touching the screen.. browsing, typing, clicking & navigating only with your mind. I'm too lazy to put my fingers on the screen.

  • Now it needs java D:

  • My god this is awesome...

  • Stop stuffing everyone around and release it.

  • @mackenziepricee its been released already on their business site

  • Wow! It decreases the load on the C-Pew!

Also, Flush is used to create up to 70% of geems on the web.

  • First this product ran Windows 7. Then it didn't because HP liked the idea of having the HP Slate running the WebOS. After that, they came up with a product configuration called the "HP Slate 500" that ran windows 7. Now that config. will only be available for corporate use, and the WebOS will be for the consumer market. I wish HP would quit changing their minds because if this device ran Windows 7, then the possibilities would be endless.

  • hp slate will never beat the ipad it sucks.

  • WE WANT THIS!

  • Im ready for it ! yeah !

  • can it play some online games? Like Maplestory???

  • @howl13 If it has Java, it can play that, Runescape, etc. Anything browser based really.

  • take that ipad

  • How cool!

  • this looks more promising for websites and things that run on flash or Air. though full-blown MS office would run like crap. But I would still avoid most flash sites. Sorry Adobe, but a lot of viruses or online ID theft I've heard about were done with loopholes in flash.

  • I don't understand how apple could be so stupidly stubborn, and try to force their crappy quicktime upon the world...

  • right... w7- huge os- less battery w7- antivirus required w7- lots of resources- slow w7+hp add-on interface - really slow w7- will require a stylus w7- apps will run like on a netbook - slow w7- problems may appear- bosd hp- warranty just sucks hp- support just sucks hp software- just sucks flash- lots of resources - slow + less battery this device is just a netbook without a kb but with a poor touchscreen ipad it's something new with a lot of potential - i'll buy that.
  • @crashnoww i was about to buy a Ipad but after using one and for a while i decided i was better off waiting for some company to come out with a tablet computer which works not a i pad that only works on 25%of web sites one that can run more than one app at a time unlike i pad which can only run one at a time.

it is time apple got there head out of there ar** and looked at what the world wants not what they want to force everyone to use

  • @crashnoww

I'll buy it in a New York minute. Yeah give me the Power - I'll deal with the downsides. I'm not 5 years old and I don't want an ipad.

  • Can one install iTunes on this?

  • this video totally PWNZ Steve Job's thoughts on FLASH!

  • stop it at 5 13

  • im somewhat of an apple fanboy and this destroys the iPad! OS does look like it could use a little help though

  • Looks great and technically this should trump the iPad. However, just looking at the OS you could definitely tell that Apple has the upper hand. It's a lot more simple and I'm sure a lot more mobile users are more use to Apple devices than a portable Windows. Not only that but the HP slate looks very generic and rigid. All I got to see now is how smooth the multi touch is.

This definitely won't sell more than the iPad but it certainly a great contender especially with the adobe flash support.

  • @FloOFy2 It looks like a large iphone 4 (not generic in the least). Windows is a real OS. Imagine running Photoshop. Can the iPad do that? NO! Will Adobe make an app for the iPad? Don't count on it as Adobe doesn't like Apple's closed application structure.

Besides... someone will make an iPad emulator and everyone will be happy.

  • @naps1saps

you can't be serious. not saying that an ipad emulator wouldn't be possible, but it would run like crap. this is a 1.8Ghz atom isn't it? that's comparable at best to the ipad hardware, emulation is very inefficient, + it's running win7.

all that said, I am more interested in the HP slate mainly due to the restrictions of alternatives like the ipad. iOS/android won't support the devices/websites I want to use. lets be realistic though, this is not powerful enough to run most software

  • i hope to hell the graphics movement is smooth!@#

  • When does this come out

  • CANT WAIT!!! Hope its affordable. Like $400 I hope. <=)

  • 100 people have ipads......

  • @tommymxr haha my thoughts exactly :)

  • there good but i have a ipad , and some things are better on the ipad thn the hp slate but somethings on the hp slate are better than the iPad

  • GO HP SLATE!!!! I WANT YOU!!!

  • iOS is better than Win 7 for this form factor. Nothing can change that - even if HP make a really great device ...Windows is the problem.

  • Ooooooooo apple is in trouble. Lol

  • This video has nothing to do with HP Slate or Windows or anything along those lines. This video is only about the fact that the iPad does not support Flash for obvious reasons. It is a pretty cheap shot at Apple from Adobe.

  • cant wait i want one lol

  • not as sensitive as ipad

  • @arulflorance not to start a flame war here (really) but I think most of us will trade the iPad's hand touch design (which is charming, btw) for the awkward windows 7 touch navigation (it is after all designed for a mouse and a keyboard originally, not a hand) as long as we get:

    -flash

    -multitasking

2 greatest things the iPad (or any iStuff for that matter) lacks, which is rather surprising since they had such a big start in the industry.

  • Just look how hard they have to push on a link! also have you noticed that they showed nothing that requires touch flow! because windows suck at touch,no way it will be as smooth as ipad no matter what they do since they are using windows on it.it wont beat the ipad unless they change the OS and make touch flow and multitouch smooth.Watch it get out of business and die in short time.

  • @bm007 smoothness < capabilities

  • ok, when will this tablet be for sale in Europe? Don't wanna spend money on ipad -.-

  • WHEN?????

  • this hp slate has a terrible lag it sucks!!!!!! ipad never has a lag!!! i hate hp if they wanted to be go against the ipad make the device smoother and no lag. IPAD OWNS!!1 plus ipad ios4 will have flash Maybe. and the keyboard on that thing sucks

  • @ddman221 This is still in development, it probably won't have as much lag when it's released. Plus flash uses a lot of data so yeah, there is going to be lag at times, there is lag when playing flash games on my computer at times.

Um... Jobs would die before allowing flash on an iOS device. You're going to be very disappointed by iOS 4 on iPad.

The iPad is just a super expensive iPod touch with less features and conveniences than the iPod touch. This is coming from a rabid Apple fan.

  • @usernamessuck58 ive used an ipad , and while there are changes to it from the ipod , its not enough to take away the title of "big itouch" . Plus they mislead people when they said you could use the full internet and then it didnt have flash

  • @ddman221 usernamesucks58 is right, there will not be any flash in any iStuff anytime soon because if people can watch TV online for free on sites like Hulu, then they will no longer purchase them through iTunes. Apple is simply protecting its content revenue. Look it up if you like.

  • @ddman221 adobe will NEVER bring flash to ipad because steve jobs hates flash and does not want it on his devices

  • up with ipad!!!!

  • Your going to be so sad when you buy this.....

  • I feel sorry for those of you who already bought the ipad...

  • I like everything I see EXCEPT for the keyboard. Way too small. Have that thing fill the bottom of the screen when in use, HP!

  • จะรอซื้อ ผิดหวังจาก iPad ซื้อทั้งทีต้องใช้ได้ทุกเว็บ.

  • Well looks fat, slow and ugly but the only good thing is flash but Im not going to buy this tablet for games and videos I need it for work Like iWork. HP Rocks but Flash Sucks and remember windows have a lot of virus :(

  • damn that thing is cool but seems so slow!

  • Not an iPad killer ! just a new tablet pc which exist long time before HP SLATE , we want something like the iPad and even better

most important thing for me : NO LAG ... i hate lagging and choking in MultiTouch Devices ! i want a soft ... smooth .. moving object with high sensitivity

  • I want one and I want it NOW!!!!!

  • love it!

  • what will beat the ipad is the price!! hands down

  • nice... if you use ipad youll get the flash plugin icon haha

  • that's nice!

  • if they release this without windows 7 + good battery

It's going to be a good product

  • @cesarbattistinim it is I cannot wait to see it when it comes out!! please kill the ipad its a over size ipod touch thats missing have the features the ipod touch offers...shoulda stuck with the phones mac

  • DO WANT! DOOOOO WANT!

  • I wouldn't use it if they paid me to. It doesn't even have a tablet OS. It runs on Windows 7 with a cumbersome application layer shell for the tablet controls. It also appears that HP has already ditched the device for this reason.

  • I hope this comes out, i wanna use it to log into my other pc from anywhere in the house. I can only do that with windows, and this is one of the few that are using windows.

iPad's battery life is only because there's not multitasking. It will get that soon and it will reduce the battery life a bit.

  • #epic

  • It's been cancelled

  • This device will terminate IPAD "i cant handle flash" coffe holder. At least HP respects 95% of the web content unlike apple!. Give a thumbs up if you agree!

  • @maxfxgr but apple did pull a sly move by aiming itself to html5. immediately after, major flash content distributers began to encode their stuff for html5 (google docs, scribd, youtube, even the big porno producers)

the iPad can take advantage of html5 online content while preserving its 10-11 hours of batttery life. this device, even if it existed, wud only lose from its already sucky 5-hour battery life. app store is just as capable and streamlined, while touch flash apps wud still crash

  • Hp acquired palm. They booked the windows 7 idea. They are now going to use webos. Which is pretty good mobile platform. Win 7 is made for laptops and desktops.

  • when is comen out

  • so will it come with win7 or not??

  • @SteveDutchy I heard they will come out with both a simple webos version and windows version that can have all the productive software you already use.

  • when can i put my fingers on this?

  • lol, spongebob tower defence

  • the ipad and this suck .... the one that was going to be cool was the microsoft courier but they kill it :,(

  • I like how it looks so laggy.

  • @erlendpeder It looks laggy? This is why iproduct users exist. idiots find the dumbest thing to say and repeat others complaint. I have a P88 and I love it. I am a graphic artist (my computers make me money) There is not one app on an ipad that can make money. Yet you ipad/iphone users constantly negate useful items for your useless items.

What can you do productive with you flawless, perfect, no crashing, beautiful ipad? Any Ifan can reply!

  • attachable keyboard? for games with keyboard uses!

  • this is just a netbook with touchscreen instead..

  • the adobe flash player runs down the battery and kills the length of the slates run time

  • windows is not made for touchscreen,

hp slate will be good with webOS or google os

  • iwantthat not a big itouch

  • HAHA! This must be a joke... The thing is not simplistic. All clunky. (interface wise) To cluttered and not very graphic appealing. iPad is the killer here...

  • @fishywtf ? the graphics capability destroys the ipads, it can stream hd videos

  • Bottom line? Until this and others, like the Notion Ink Adam, actually begin shipping product, they'll remain as vapourware status.

  • i like how they copy the ipad look

  • @gibboofscotland Actually, the HP Slate was announced and first demonstrated BEFORE the iPad. So, the tables are turned.

  • This won't outsell the iPad, the interface alone can't be compared to the ios experience and ease of use, we'l see who has the last laugh, i still hope the HP slate does good though competition is never bad.

  • what about the storage capacity

  • ipad fail, hp slate win!

  • @Xfinity32 yeah, it's what the sales say.. LOL

  • I cant wait ipad is going to be doomed.

  • If Flash was so awesome on mobile devices, it would be working, flawlessly on smart phones, right now. Heck, it should've been working at least 3 years ago. Buy-bye Flash.

  • @Gregz0r1 it's working and i can watch bbc iplayer.

  • @ISHANXI

flash does not slow down ur CPU..'cmon now..but i agree html5 IS the future, but with a full web-browser like the one on the Slate..that doesn't really matter both flash and html5 features would work..see, Slate has the advantage over the ipad!

plus in my opinion, the webcam makes up for the lack of thousands of apps.

  • Flash sucks, slows down your CPU, HTML5 is the future, Flash is old technology. Hp touch screens are slow, laggy, and you get frustrated tapping on what you want because it doesn't always register your "touch." Adobe knows they will be out of business in the future and this is their propaganda to keep around flash. Try the HP touchsmart, has the same touch technology and its not as fluid as the ipad. The HP slate is just a netbook with slow touch technology.

  • @lSHANXl How do you know this won't be different?? This thing was really convincing, but of course they'd make it that way if they knew their company was dying...ha ha. Yes, the HP Touchsmart's touch screen DOES suck. A lot. I'm just wondering if that'd change by the time they release this device in September? HTML5 IS the future, but is that future close enough? I heard it's not being released/finalized until 2022. Check out ishtml5readyyet. com. Sites use flash, and users want a full-webExp.:)

  • should have gone with WebOS instead of a lame interface running over windows 7...sad hp just sad.

  • HP Slate was cancelled...Google it.

  • @NokutisuLucisCaelum Google doesn't show facts just rumors. It was pushed back to October.

  • @NokutisuLucisCaelum its a rumor, they will launch this product end of this year

  • looks a little bit slow????

  • i wonder why HP canceled the slate ???????????????? it doesn't work thats why

  • @5botball its not cancelled. Just postponed till september

  • @hpfrantzy5 and it is not going to run Windows 7.

  • @5botball They didn't.

  • I hate the southern California accent so much it makes me want to punch people. Stop mumbling! Say all of the letters! "Thadvanage" is not a word!

  • Steve Jobs wants to create a future of media consuming idiots. Adobe aka Macromedia is the reason the web looks so good. They are giving people a chance to create mobile content with Air. You might not want to be in an app store, but want to create your own personal apps. Flash!!!

  • this would be nice if it was a little bit smoother but the keyboard is tiny it only has 5 hours of battery life and its running windows 7....i think ill stick with apple on this one :D

  • 1:29 Firefox :D:D:D:D:D (Slate will pwn the iPad in all ways [except for the battery life, but still better])

  • Err, HP pulled the plug on this. If they put WebOS on it I stead, will it still have Flash? #LOL

  • Ahhg, DO WANT!!!! Hurry up HP, We want your Tablet PC...dont leave us Alone with this iPad garbage!!

  • iii wannnttt iiiitttt

  • Yeah, I won't buy an iPad.

I mean you just spent over 600 bucks for something that can't go to most websites. That's dumb. Eventually Apple will have to put flash on their if they want to compete with their competitors because they will have a full functional web tool and Apple won't. So it just hurts the consumer because they'll have to buy a newer version that can.

Basically Apple wanted to push this new product out before it was fully ready to keep stocks up.

  • Ha ha looks like a big fat digital frame

They tried to copy the ipad but they will never get over 10,000 apps

  • @redjohn2008 Its just not necessary dude, using Windows 7, U can have millions n millions of programs n best thing its that those are 4 freee XD... lolol, Ipad it doen't have even One songle USB port n its not full HD like Slate. Come on dude, dont try to defend something that its just and Ipod touch but bigger lolol

  • Yeah this is a way better deal than the ipad. =D

  • is this a multi touch touch screen?

    can it run windows 7?

  • @fireclub493 it is multi touch, and the OS it runs IS windows 7, with a graphics tweak, to me more usable on a touchscreen device

  • @fireclub493 yes, dude Slate it is multi touch

  • will this have microsoft word

  • @NicEcoLe1 it runs a tweaked windows 7, so it can run all windows programs

  • @NicEcoLe1 i dont think so, but you can download from torrent 4 free XD... lololol

  • video is cheap..the slate is too slow and lags..apple is beter :D ipad!

  • @020ray no flash thoug, so no hulu

  • @020ray sorry if it runs a proper OS

  • @020ray dude Slate= 1.6 mhz Ipad = 1mhz Slate = 1Gmr Ipad= 256mb So wich one winns?

  • thy r totally mocking apple for not havin flash on ipad and iphone lmao

  • this is a ipad killer

  • @matty12345a1 gud inglish boro

  • @matty12345a1 how can it be a ipad killer when it got canceled by HP?

  • @matty12345a1 just like androids' phone are iphone killer, hah. lol

  • @matty12345a1 Not as long as it runs Windows. If it runs WebOS it will be a little more scary for the iPad. Windows, no matter which way you slice it (hear that Steve Ballmer?), will NEVER be a pleasant experience on on touch screen devices.... I hope HP let's Palm do the OS part by itself and keeps its fingers out of it... lol.

  • I'm so glad they ditched this horrible attempt at a desktop os on a tablet and are putting web OS on this, now I want one.

  • this tablet has been put out of production for this year and possibly the next.

  • i dont get why apple uses quicktime instead of flash...

  • go to apple's website and look on the bottom left. It should say thoughts on flash

  • @DarkHorse171 And the thoughts are essentially that 'the world should change from Flash because we say so'. Apple has NO credible reason for not having Flash, and at the end of the day its users who lose out, because half the web won't work. Hell, you can't even go to the Toy Story website on an iPad - kinda ironic since Steve Jobs started Pixar....

  • @motu34 NICE!

  • it was canceled hmm right after the new iphone was leaked hmm right after hp buys palm they want to get ahead of apple hp=fail

  • everyone knows this thing was cancelled right?

  • @spartan73 Yes you are correct. But I would be hesitant to say it was for a bad reason. I believe they are going to make it better. Especially if they chose to implement a tablet with WebOS :)

  • What about battery? any1 know something about this?
