The sun has been relatively quiet recently, meaning that the sun's radiation blast could be a little bit stronger than usual. Satellites and whatnot are a relatively new thing, so past solar flares haven't affected us discernibly, hence it's never been reported on in the past. IT'S NOT DOOMSDAY!!! IT'S NORMAL!!!

Do people not realise that the sun's poles 'flip' fairly periodically though intermittently, probably not much more than every 11 years or so?! The last one happened in early 2001. The sun has been relatively quiet recently, meaning that the sun's radiation blast could be a little bit stronger than usual. Satellites and whatnot are a relatively new thing, so past solar flares haven't affected us discernibly, hence it's never been reported on in the past. IT'S NOT DOOMSDAY!!! IT'S NORMAL!!!
