Minis ARE slow unless you really put some money into them. End of story.

I had a co-worker with a R56 and multiple mods. A tune, full exhaust, intake, and I still pulled on him HARD with my '10 MS3.

I don't know why everyone is so surprised that the Cooper couldn't hang with a flippin turbocharged I4 and a Hemi V8.

The Mini has a turbocharged I4 as well. However its only a 1.6L not a 2.3L. The mini makes 180Hp the MS3 puts out 263Hp. Its apples and oranges. They aren't even in the same class. Mini cooper S 0-60 time=6.7sec. MS3 0-60=4.88sec. As for the charger well its a disgrace all that displacement and its pwned. just crap cars and a mini essentially hung with it.

You're right the Mini is Turbocharged. I didn't realize that. I have never seen an MS3 do 60 in under 5 seconds at least for a stock. It's listed from 5.9 to 5.5.

The Mini's a stud, I have to say. But I'd much rather have the MS3. Chargers are garbage!

good video. I have a 09 Cooper S with just a CAI. The CAI really doesn't do anything except make it sound better, love that turbo and BOV. anyway, my brother has a stock 2010 mazdaspeed 3 and on the highway from 60 to 140 he only beats me by about 4 car links. don't believe MINI when they say the cooper S has 172 hp and 177tq. real numbers are closer to 195 and 200. i love both cars. but i got to good a deal on the cooper plus the resale value.

Nice vid, I love smoking chargers. Nothing against the car so much as my experiences with the drivers always seem to be bad. Seems like everyone I have raced with one was a complete ass about it. Not to mention 9 times out of 10 I see a charger driving down the freeway they are cutting people off acting like they own the road. Bunch of off duty cops if you ask me.

okay the supercharged mini runs slower than the turbo version i have a 08 turbo mini S and its alot faster then that one. i think i would of kept up with the charger alot better or even beat it.

Actually, the only part on my mazdaspeed3 that is from ford is the frame, and it's not anything from American ford, it is off the euro spec ford focus, everything else are mazda only parts. And so what if it did share 90% of ford parts? It will still blow the doors off 90% of cars today.

90% of our parts say FoMOCO on them..... Brakes, hoses, all the sensors. But you are right, there isnt much from the factory you can buy for 23k that will keep up.

really? I've pretty much taken apart my ms3 and put it back together and I didn't see one part that said FoMoCo. Even the BOV says MAZDA on it and the spark plugs are NGK. I don't know why everyone hates on ford though, alot of their engines are pretty bullit proof.

On a tight track of course a MINI would win! The Mazdaspeed 3 is way f'n faster than a Cooper S in any other area and that is fact. The Mini is just good at autocross type courses and would be spanked badly by a Mazdaspeed 3 in any other than autocross/ tight tracks.

I would say a mini would "rape" a MS3 on a track either. It can probably handle a little better given it's so tiny, etc.. But in the striaght parts of the track...bye bye mini :( and in the end the MS3 would win. Now, if the track was extremely tight, then the mini would win of course.

Hey! leave my 4K lb car alone okay lol, yeah i definately give props to the ms3 it is a really quick car. eventhough we have done other runs that my take off is a bit better at a higher rpm but still i think the ms3 will take me. we will see what happens when i get a CAI, and a chip, maybe a little Nos, but that i have to see. I recently added a CP-E CAI that made a difference I thought, especially now that I can hear my BPV pretty good. Other than that my car is completely stock. The Charger R/T is completely stock and the Mini Cooper S supposidly has an ugraded pulley for its supercharger. Definitely the Speed3 is amazing!
