Me and a few friends were listening to this in the dark last night and when the pads came in, it sounded like a blanket that was sheltering a city of noises... then the howls came in and that sounded like either a dog howling or a moon rising up and down in a clear sky
last night i put this album for sleeping, when "Piezo" came I almost shitted myself at that "howl" towards the ending, hoping God that it would not repeat itself...and it repeated something like 20 times ahah...these guys are sick in their minds
This song demonstrates something which Autechre does that I really like. The beginning has some interesting, weird sounds but doesn't quite sound complete. Then they gradually bring in the ambient sound and it all ties together beautifully. The swell on that synth . . . just haunting. It's amazing machines can produce something with so much spirit.
I hated this track for the first 5 years I had it. I just couldn't figure it. Listened over and over and finally one day I was playing this in the background and the weird spacey part in the middle just grabbed me and wouldn't let go. All of a sudden the rest of the song makes sense. Brilliant.
Strange mushrooms bouncing up and down. A vast alien landscape under a beatiful bright moon reveals. The moonlight is reflected in a big lake. A big weird creature appears, wandering alone along the shore of the lake, seemingly without any purpose. A sad, empty expression on it's face. He's almost dragging his feets as he's wandering. The creature suddenly see some flying animals over him. They fly back and fourth over him and the lake. The creature disappear in the distant, under the moonlight.
@JHZildjian thanks man! :D We are lucky to have the minds of Booth and Brown around. As far as I'm concerned they are one of the few artists I know of that makes music in such a way, that when I'm listening to it I'm able to imagine amazing vivid worlds like this. They are sure able to literally create worlds in their music, and the best thing is that more or less each single track are a different one! :)
This has probably become my favorite Autechre song, up there with Ziess Contarex, Windwind, Dropp, and some others. Regardless, almost all of autechre is awesome =)
The first time I heard this I hated the beginning because I thought it was annoying. At the end though, when everything disappears, I wanted the music from the beginning to come back. This song is sort of like a person.
its taken me a while to get into Autechre's music, but now I love it! with some music, you have to be persistent with it, and then it grows on you, and before you know it, you are a fan. i think alot of music is made to expand your horizons and get you listening to music you wouldnt otherwise hear. a few years ago, I would never have even heard of these guys.
I came here to listen to an old favourite as I drank a cup of coffee in the morning sun...but that's this ? what's up with all the faggots posting on this video about being brought to tears by this track ? jesus christ....
@d33pS3Ad1v3r hahaha, true say. i wouldnt exactly consider autechre as "emotional" music...very human sounding, certainly...but more along the lines of contemplative than "sad" or "happy"
@d33pS3Ad1v3r What about someone expressing their feelings outward in tears suggests homosexuality? Would it not be equally as ignorant for me to post "what's with all the faggots posting about drinking coffee in the morning sun"...? Why is your way of listening to the music any better than how other people choose to enjoy it, besides the common view of society suggesting that showing emotions is not acceptable behavior? Fall in line, sheep. Obey. Conform.
"expressing their feelings outward in tears " lol.
I noticed you're american, so I don't expect you to understand 'facetious' or 'satire spin', but regardless I have to disagree with you entirely about the common view of american society. If your media is anything to go by, you are a fucking nation of cry babies. My view would get no air-time, whereas yours is the epitome of politically correct neo-liberal mediocrity. Fall in line, sheep. obey. conform
@d33pS3Ad1v3r What makes you think that I agree with the common view of American society? To truly believe that all Americans are all as ignorant and stupid as we are portrayed by our leaders or in the media is ignorance in itself. I can't say that I really see where you are coming from, so I won't try to act like what I have to say is better than what you have to say, I was just trying to make a point.
This makes me feel like im the ball in a pinball machine that flashes different colours with every beat, which if fun but then slowly starts to get emotional... and i agree, the ending is beautiful
it's really hard to explain what i feel when i listen to autechre in the english language....their music is so intense, and so beautiful...i almost start to cry...crying full of joy...there is NOTHING like autechre. i listended to them as a 14 year old boy...back then. not knowing what immense part this music will have in my live. now....i know...it's crazy...but autechfe are one of those few "bands" that were affecting they way i feel, and the way i think. hard to explain.....
Trust me it's not possible for me to describe it even in my native language. that ending is just so unique. I think closest to explain feelings that part brings are just these words: Floating, freedom, tranquility, lights, peace, underwater, beauty, immaculate, pure
I was once discussing with a friend and she claimed that electronic music is just "pushing buttons", nothing that could be compared to "real instruments", artwise. I brought this Album- Amber, we listened to it in the dark while smoking; after this song she started laughing. She kept the Album, the discussion was never brought up again ;)
I hope it might become just that for me, i feel it is going that way. I'm new to the artist and listen to this track for the 1st time and i'm totally amazed.
autechre always made rhythms which are not complected to count but are very so abstract intelligent radical at the same time so emotional expressional vivid and ever groovy and much times danceable.their rhythms images perfect any animation.and the way they combine the beats and ambient background rhythmically is genious. like the beats floating in melodies and reverse.
Yeah, a real grower. Not sure about it it at first(?), but now love it, testimate to a great album; the best ablum of electronic artists I've heard. Astoundingly beautiful, and generally 'correct' ie; intellegent, veery cool, timeless, and astoundingly good. A pillar of contemporary culture. Yep
This song got me into autechre played it over and over :) <3
