why do musicians put out inferior versions of great songs? This version is awful. The problem is mainly the vocalist. The range in his voice is very limited and he can't sing the low notes, so he bumps the low notes up an octave which is in his range. It's a shame, because this vocalist has an interesting voice - but he needs to work on his vocal range. Their guitar work is not very good either.

Yeah... no offense to all of those who hated this, and thought Nancy's was the shit... yeah Nancy kinda sucked at singing (by actual classical standards that is), just as much as this vocalist (if not even more). As for the actual arrangement, well... they've both got their charm, this minimalistic version is actually of good quality withing it's genre. So if you don't like the genre, go fuck yourselves, no need to hate on something you don't like ( I do prefer the full orchestral version tho).

Whats wrong with you guys.. Nancy's orig. version WAS with full orchestral arrangement, and WILL always be superb, but why expect to always compare with this or that rather than just enjoy.. I like the forelorn sorrow in his voice - the songs about magic & LOSS and a great melodic line which IMO holds up fabulously under the power of a tele - Chris Martin's style is a very personal introverted one so much so he sometimes becomes disconnected, I can forgive him for that - its call feeling !

Let's see...he says "Brilliant" at the beginning, which shows what an overly inflated opinion he has of his music, he is horribly off-key throughout the entire song, he screws up the lyrics for the first verse, the guitar riffs during the chorus are vomit-inducing, and he completely leaves out the second verse. Yep, this is one cover with no redeeming qualities whatsoever. I'd advise Nancy Sinatra to sue, but her case, unfortunately, wouldn't get anywhere under free use legislation.

Not only is the guitar work after the intro and for the rest of the song vomit-inducing, Chris royally botched the lyrics, was off-key, and completely left out the best verse of the whole song. They should send Nancy Sinatra a written apology for this.
