  • wats the top speed

  • @lts45 back then it was 55mph but I sold the kart about a year ago so...

  • @MarvinSanti oh cool i wanted to make one but i dont know how much hp to put on it

  • Im also wondering where you got the brakes from and how difficult it is to install. my only problem is i dont have a welder so i dont want to get into a project that i wont be able to finish because of havinf to weld brakets and such

  • @LUMLEY92 To me it was pretty straight forward to swap the factory 5hp briggs for the much bigger GX390. The motor on my kart came from a pressure washer, what I did was to cut the steel plate where the GX was mounted in the washer and welded it to the Dingo's frame. As for the brakes, the best replacement is a 150cc scooter's front calliper, you'll need a welder though or at least I cant figure any other way you could insatall it using just bolts and nuts.

  • @LUMLEY92 Speaking about the torque converter, considering the power and specially the torque output of the GX390 I would strongly suggest you use at least a 40 series Torque Converter from Comet, you can find complete setups on ebay starting at around $100. Anything less than that will simply not be able to withstand the abuse.

  • hey i have a dingo frame that came with a briggs 5hp and i have a gx390 engine that i want to put on it. Do you know if i would have to modify the mount on the frame in order to fit the engine and also would it work if i just bought a 1 inch diamater torque converter piece for the drive shaft and used the exsisting other pulley

  • Hushfoo is me my bad to confuse u i thought i was on my account sorry

  • how did u get the engine in and how much was this im looking for something like this

  • @SMAYIN It was pretty straigh forward really, these dingos have plenty of space in the rear so you can fit a much bigger engine than the stock ones they come with. The engine was a freebie and the cluth setup was $110 on ebay, the belt was $35 also on ebay.

  • @MarvinSanti ok thank you because i am trying to get a go kart but a used one (i dont have the money for a new one) but how do u install the engine because i want to do this but im afraid ill screw it up

  • @HushFoo234 send me your e mail thru a private message, I'll send you additional photos which I think will help you with your project.

  • @MarvinSanti thank you but can u send them to this account my bad about that it was my brothers and he left it up and i thought it was mine

  • @MarvinSanti ok thank you because i am trying to get a go kart but a used one (i dont have the money for a new one) but how do u install the engine because i want to do this but im afraid ill screw it up

  • @MarvinSanti OK thank you but how did u install the engine?

  • Doesn't sound so good.....

  • @magnum9987 I'll repeat it again, the video was shot in a closed space with a crappy camera... you can hear the variation in volume depending on the angle the camera was...

  • my rm 250 has more horspower than that. it has 55. hp it got bored out

  • @tyler00rm250 Cograts to you mate... be careful with it.

  • @MarvinSanti wow man i didnt even mean to post that. sorry if i sounded mean about it. thaks man. nice go cart by the way

  • @tyler00rm250 Hey chill, no offense taken... no apologies necessary...

  • @MarvinSanti glad you cool about it

  • did you have to move the jack axle in front of the motor or did it come like that

  • @anthonypizzola12 I designed the whole clutch-torque converter setup. The kart came from the factory with a wimpy 30 series torque-a-verter and a 5hp briggs & Straton motor.

  • Wonderfully sick!!!

To the guy mentioning the handling problem, yes, they push like nobody's business not only because of the weight bias and front tire size, but it's a live axle. It doesn't want to turn, period. Want to turn at speed? Lean as far forward as you can to put SOME weight on the front, and drift it like you've got a million rear tires in the garage.

I've got an unmodified one that's really hairy. I can only imagine this one!

  • @TalkzillaBob Thanks for the post, believe me it pulls...

  • hi i need some help my mate has one of these and his wheel came off for no reason everything was on secure even the wheel nuts where torqued up

  • @mig123100 If it was one of the front tires, most probably there was bearing failure and the wheel popped out. If it was on the rear then I have no explanation since these use a live axle and the wheel is pretty much fixed to the axle witn a nut and a key.

  • @MarvinSanti na it was the back unless he fucked his nut and key lol

  • You might want to think about getting larger front tires. With the go kart being back heavy and having large back tires it make the steering wide and unresponsive sometimes. I have two dingos one with larger and smaller front tires. the turning is better on the larger one because the tires were closer to the same size.

  • @Tagard1995 You're completely right, on asphalt it turns very well but on dirt it's a completely different story.

  • Where's the air filter?

  • @augertdog It has one i just forgot to put it on when I shot this video. The last thing I want is to have the engine sucking in a bunch of dirt.

  • how hard was it to put in

  • @USApunk07 Not even half way down... I was afraid it might slide off the jack and end up crashint into the wall so I kept the revs down.

  • use a koso PWK 34 mm flatslide, its the same carb as the KTM 125cc bikes have

  • @kebabtralla2k Yeah I know that the best carb setup for these engines is about 34 to 35mm since the intake valve is actually that same size. A 44mm is way too big and not nearly as eficient as a 34mm

  • dude if u r selling this and you are located somewhere in yorkshire i might buy it off u but what is that bad rattlying noise

  • @mig123100 The noise you hear is because the video was taken with a Sony camera which try to regulate the noise that's why sometimes it sounds very loud and sometimes the noise level drops drastically, oh and I'm not selling it but thanks for your interest...

  • (the piece i need is on 1:16) The black tubing

  • -Hi i have a carburator just like yours but i need to know where did you get the fitting for the carb to fit into the engine. The other end is way to big and i have a honda engine..

  • I had the same problem, that's why I had to fabricate my own custom fitting using some scrap metal that I found around my garage.

  • -Oh ok cool ill see what i can do then thannks...

  • I'm guessing it makes like 16 to 18 hp by how it launches and top speed.

  • where did u bought the engine

  • @dckc75 I got it for free, this motor came off a pressure water pump that my cousin's neighbor was about to dump just because the pressure pumb brokedown... The motor was in like new condition though.

  • no chance more like 12hp, its a turkey get a real honda not some clanky sounding clone

    cheap skate

  • @89898989898989899898 It's a genuine Honda, I painted it grey so that is matches the wheels. The clanky sound you hear is because it was a closed space and the vid was shot with a digital pictures camera so sound and video quality is very low.

  • @89898989898989899898 the clones run just as well and it save you like $500

  • sharts i wanna do that i have 2 dingo frames one has a engine n it but it dosent work

  • how much is an engine like that?

  • is your belt too tight, you shouldn't have that "kart creep" going on, it should be able to idle without spinning the wheels.

  • Yes, at that time I was still tunning it and the belt was to tense, however when the kart was idling on the ground it would not move at all.

  • how much around does that engine cost

  • I've seen them on Ebay for as low as $576.00 (original Honda like mine, not clone).

  • thanks alot man... and how does it deliver the power???

  • through a comet 780 series torque converter and posi traction (live axle).

  • heyy man just a question...

wat speed does it top out on???

    .

  • Well I've not had the opportunity to radar-gun it or something like that so I dont know for sure but just last weekend I raced one of my cousins who has a 2002 yamaha blaster that tops 55mph and i smoked him, he estimated I was going about 65mph because of how fast I kept gaining distance on him.

  • i built a homemade setup out of a rear enginge riding mower go really fast but not enough power low end keeps over heating my clutch still lots of fun but i like off roading

  • u need ah air filther ur suckin 2 much air

  • Not any more, the 44mm carb was replaced. The 28mm that is currently installed has an air filter...

  • coool go-kart

  • nice i have a brigs raptor on mine and custom paint i bet urs goes faster tho cuz of that ill clutch i might try to find 1 nice tho all u need is paint

  • Raptors are very good, reliable engines with lots of potential...

  • why have you a 44m carb on it, the inlet valve is only 28mm, that sounds guttless. what is the point on a off road kart.. loud as fuk and no go.

    50mph max whoppee

  • Just read my previous replies/comments, I'm not wasting my time explaining something I already did... And let me correct you, the intake valve is not 28mm, it is 34mm.

  • hey man nice go cart, i am building one similar to this with this exact engine(just not upgraded) i was wondering what type of clutch you are using and what i should maby get, Thanks Kyle.

  • Thanks for your comment Kyle, the clutch you see in this video is a Comet 780 Series (a beast of a clutch by the way). However the least expensive you may get is a 40 series which are very reliable too.

  • hey thanks and yeah that's what i thought i was going to need but i wasn't sure, also how do i get the jack shaft mounted? which mount should i buy.

  • I used a 3/4 shaft going thru 2 pillowblock bearings mounted to the kart's frame and that's it. It works wonders...

  • where can i get the clutch for that engine?

  • The clutch you are most likely to find for this engine is the Comet 40 series for 1" shaft. I was very lucky to find this complete 780 series kit with belt on Ebay for just $110 shipping included (the 780 components are sold separately and each one costs $250+ the belt alone costs $85) however the performance of it is worth it.

  • I was wondering if you could make the weels stop when the throttle isn't pushed?

  • Watch the video at .50 . The wheels are spining because the kart is on a jack but when it is on the ground it does not move at all (when idling).

  • was the 24mm what came with it or is that some sort of dirtbike carb?

  • No, the 24mm came from a 250cc scooter bike. Im currently looking for a 34mm carburetor that I believe is the ideal for this engine.

  • Well I dont recommend a carb that's too large since the vaccuum will be completely lost and the engine will not suck in the right air/fuel mixture. I changed back to a 24mm mikuni carb but I think a 34 or 35 mm would do the best. If you plan on super or turbo charging that's a whole different scenario...

  • Stock carb is 28 why go smaller....

  • Well... The stock carb is 28mm but it uses a ventury which restricts the air flow that actually goes into the engine, the 24mm mikuni that I installed on it has no ventury instead it has a straight through design and when visually compared to the stock one the difference is evident. The kart also feels torquier when launching and with much more top end than when it had the stock carb.

  • wow bro that thing is probably faster than mine. i have plans to put a large carb on sucking down more fuel makes it go faster i guess. i want to put a turbo or supercharger on it motor is off and if you have any tips for me just drop a line

  • I saw your kart, it's probably not as fast because of the torque converter it has, the 40 series is a mid range TC so the speed reduction ratio is not as wide as the 780 series on my kart, but still it's a very reliable TC.

  • That's a secret... no just kidding!, I pulled the motor off a pressure washer that my neighbor was about to dump just because the pressure pump failed. The engine is in great condition, I changed the oil, cleaned and painted it neatly and it's rolling like new.

  • how much was the engine n whats the top speed?

  • Believe it or not the motor was a FREEEEBIEE!!, I did my first test runs today and it's making about 60mph. Some tunning is still needed for the carb to perform at its max.

  • wwhere the fuck did u get it for free

  • Carb is WAY to big. intake valve is only 35mm in those 390s, smaller carb it would be faster, sat 34mm. and as far as 60mph. better ge a new radar gun.....

  • Yep, that's why I shifted back to the 24mm mikuni that it had previously, and by the way, the 60mph was measured with my cousins 150cc Scooter which tops 55mph. (I left him in the dust by the way).

  • got honda?

  • Looks like a beast! I'm planning on building one this summer with a similar engine. Can't wait to see how it rides. Good luck with a road test! Looking forward to seeing it.

  • Thanks man! I hope I can do my first test runs tomorrow, I"ll post a video with more action soon...
