  • Absolutely the best show to see!

  • David Lee Roth = fucked 5 or 6 hot chicks every night

  • @Hunkola thats how he got clamydia...

  • even now...many years later.......they still RULE!

  • this is some of the ,if not the best, blues based hard rock 'n' roll ever to be composed. hard ass blues is all!

  • Van Halen has the most #1 hits on Billboards Main Stream, a record that is recorded in the Guinness Book of World Records.

I also seem to remember them being in the GBWR for the biggest payment for a single show - something like $1Million. . .

    Need I say more?

    Ok, I will. . . if there was a God, He'd be Dutch and play a red & white guitar. . .

  • I saw VH in the 80's, man they rocked back then. VH with Roth was the faschizzle.

  • I have liked all versions of VH, but back then THEY RULED THE ROOST!

  • my dad has seen them 3 or 4 times

  • Endroit de savoir autre VAN HALEN

  • this is life this is music

  • early 80s van halen must have been the best fuckin show to see!

  • Oh, without a doubt. I saw them 9 times and every single one of those shows was the party of the fucking century!

  • @pepper123

I agree...I've seen them 5 times since 1991 and its like going to Disney Land each time!

  • It was. ;-p

  • @nissansentraglx

As soon as they came out they were the show to see...they still are. Thats why they grossed 100 Million on the last tour...

  • @nissansentraglx Dude i saw them on the 1980 invasion tour , wich came out right after women and children first , i was 16 , you have no idea how great seeing all those metal bands back in the day was , Peace !!!

  • @renorocker64 i'm jealous! i was in 6th grade back then living in wisconsin. didn't exactly have any chance to see them then. the 1984 tour was my first concert in chicago. great experience!

  • @nissansentraglx No way the best shows to see were probably the ones from before they got signed so you'd be able to see them in a club which is ALWAYS a better show than a stadium.

  • @nissansentraglx It was... The greatest show on earth. You didn't know which way to look. I saw em in 80 and twice in 81... Philly Spectrum. Nuts.

  • This version has the best solo!

Why would anybody be editing this awesomeness out?

  • @CYCLOPSONE

This is the solo EVH would play during the Club Days. For album purposes its too long. For a true VH Fan like you and I its not but for the general public just hearing it for the first time they did the right thing...

  • love the photo at 1:01 thats actually a photo of van halen playin and the cradle will rock the intro is actually played on a worlitzer electric piano fused with EVHs flanger although its usually eddie who did the keyboard stuff since the piano part is so important to the song and guitar at the same time and theres no overdubbing live mike just played the piano live eddie probably gave him lessons

  • ..oh yeah Roth at 3:01 what an amazing photo, very ball spreading height there from the master!

  • fuckin nice

  • hey at 1:17 is that ronald mcDonald ? swear to god if it aint

  • yeah seen him wear that during fair waring tour

  • that was a sick solo he had the craziest chops

  • jammin demo

  • Young eddie had sooo much fire in him.

  • Never get tired of that riff. Great solo!

  • check out the runnin with the devil and you really got me demos ;)

  • cool thanks!

  • Impresionante !!!!!

  • I'm glad they didn't use this opening riff on the album, it doesn't sound as good. During Ed's solo, you can hear little snipits of what was to come in Ed's playing.

  • I love how at around 2:45 they play the intro over within the song, after the extended solo, then back to the main riff.

  • great solo version and great photos

  • Always cool to here a demo-thanx !

  • Somebody get me DLR!!! Nice pics! EVH totally rocks.

  • Somebody Get Me A Demo!

Thinking back to 1979 punk was big and there was a backlash against dinosaur bands with long songs & long solos. I'm thinking Ted Templeman urged VH to go with short tight version of ...Dr. 1980 saw NWOBHM, Def Lep, Iron Maiden etc

  • Great solo.Shreads more than the cut on VH2.Thanks. Great pics too!!!

  • I like this just as much as the II version.

  • love the solo!!!!!!

  • ive got to say the best version of this is live from 77 at the civic center

  • Thanks, dude...very cool!

  • thanx 4 posting.

    love the rare VH.

    the more obscure, the better!

  • at 2:03 the extend solo starts

  • luv the pics. great tune

  • kick ass

  • luv that little lick in the opening chords

  • AWESOME!! Eddie is Shreddin! Thanks Man!

  • WOW
