  • Only real metalheads do the DIE part! The other ones are poor fuckers who got free tickets and don't even know who Metallica is ¬¬ !

  • HOLY SHIT!!! that voice KICKS ASS!!!

  • whatsup with the black dude with his back turned to the stage lol?

  • @metalupyourass20 thats the security guard...duh... u can see other guys wearing the same tshirts who also have their backs turned...

  • you have no idea what you're talking about do you..

  • suck this all big cock !!!

  • thanks for sharing dude, awesome

  • I'm assuming the guy in the blue shirt is security......dude, there is people behind you that you can't see! Why isn't he in a better position?!

  • omg AWSOME, JAMES PICKING UP THE MIC AND POINT AT THE CROWD!!!!!!!!!! FUCKING JAMES HETFIELD ROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOCKS!!!!!!!

  • I want to say that Metallica is coming out of the Load-ReLoad-St. Anger hole ... they are getting there old metal spirit back.

  • wow i love metallica

  • when i hear ecstacy of gold it reminds of the metallica ive been at 3 to 4 months ago

  • now i know why they say they love philly. you guys aint even in to it. you all look dead. cant even hear the crowd .....u texans blow

  • UHhhhhh screw you dude! It was a SECRET show. No one even knew if they were coming or not! AND I was there. People went ape-sh@# when they came out

  • When i hear Ectasy of Gold...a smile come´s to my face.

    THATS METALLICA, EETFUK!!

  • they peaked in the late 80s with master and and justice

  • What about Ride? I thought that was a good one too =)

  • Actually the peaked with the black album in 1991. One of most pupalar albums in history with 10millions copy. Idiot search before telling lies.

  • Numeratically and for new listeners, thats completly true. But, for a true metallica fan before that, (A.K. Leper Messiah, Master of Puppets, Creeping Death, heavy, thrash metal) the fans felt betrayed. Personally, Enter Sandman was a gateway into Metal altogether so i'm happy it existed, but for recurring fans, it wasn't great.

  • i think they were good even before the black album its just by that time more people knew about them

  • 30 million copies..cough cough

  • I meant peaked for song writing not album sales

idiot, learn that music's not all about the money

  • rob is huge

  • Why would they want to do anything in texas, texas sucks.

  • you suck

  • Why does Texas suck? where are you from?

  • Texas is actually one of the earliest and biggest Metallica-fanbase in US. On the Kill 'em All tour they did like 4 sold out shows in a row there. Texas is more than oil, cowboys and the Bush-family

    and why its secret?

  • I SPY A SECURITY GUARD!!!!!!!!! lol

  • tallica's STILL kickin ass!!!!!!!!!!

  • STILL? THEY FOREVER WILL! \m/

  • they'll always kick ass.., no matter how old they get lol

  • Seriously, I can see them playing around 60 years old. They're like 42-44 now.

  • lol.. i know I was just joking. Just seems like it since they've been around since like 83. I'm 31 now and I've been listening to them since Master of Puppets came out..

  • '81 to be exact.

  • That would be torture..working security and not being allowed to turn around to watch metallica..

  • true story, I agree with you... BUT, consider this: they prob get to meet the band and chill with em a little, and enjoy other perks like that

  • wow, you're so near to the stage...

    so let it be written!

  • Yeah... about 2nd or 3rd back from the barricade... wish there didn't have to be a divide for official press & security guards.

  • METALLICA GO VENEZUELA

  • theres no way in hell i could be a security guy at a metallica concert, Ide get fired for not doing my job. Metallica Forever

  • haha the guy with the blue shirt sucks...

  • You caught an excellent audio to go with an amazing video. Thanks for the upload.

  • I think the guy facing backwards is security

  • parece banda punkie de tan rapido q tocan los temas.

  • the fag in the blue shirt is prolly super ultra pro megadeth and will not stand and face metallica in fear of actuall liking them a little. bastard

  • what's wrong with the dude in the blue shirt? turn around fool!

  • that would be the security guy...

  • why is that one idiot facing the wrong way? Metallica is playing for free and he's staring blankly into space?

  • Creeping Death is the best as opening :)

  • GREAT SHOW I WAS THERE

  • Hells yes.

  • Heh...

Was there. Probably about 9 people down the rail from this camera. What an absolutely amazing show. Thank you MetClub. :-P

  • wow i was out side of stubbs wehen this happened i wish i was actually there to see them

  • Epic Win!!!! GO METALLICA!!! I wish I were there

  • Sweet Jesus, they were rushing the beat on this song. Still, I can't believe I was right there and totally missed this show. I heard about it about half an hour after it ended, I think it was happening right at the same time as Devo's show across town. The whole wall-of-photogs thing was going on at all of Gallows' shows, too. That's just the way SXSW is now.

  • so much fucking energy going on!!!

  • 2000people, 99% witch cameras... omg...

  • Not bad. For a bunch of Old Guys. LOL

  • Thanks for being the only person to post a vid of this thus far with decent qaulity audio! Kudos! And as for the dude bitching about the crowd, he apparently doesn't see the line of security in front of you protecting the photographers. Fucking Norweigans, think they are the only headbangers in the world.

  • die, die, mother fucker die!!!!!! that's so Jason, lol

  • I know Rob totally stole that shit! lol

Did you catch the Rock Hall of Fame dude? Totally miss Newsted's backing vox after that

  • He totally did. Haha.

  • so freaking jealous :( :( :( i couldve totally been there had i read the metallica website a few hrs later than i did that thursday..... :( :( :( how much was ur wristband/badge?

  • I got mine early, Austin locals could buy one for $129.

  • if you were in the metallica club and responded to the email in time, free :)

  • what do you mean? metclub members got free tickets?? how?

  • metclubbers get to enter contests to go to secret shows like this, (they happen alot, just not many are as popular as this one)

and if you win, you see this epic band for free. plus you get to buy tickets for the rest of their concerts before the general public. its really amazing

  • p.s. i plan on joining the metallica club after i've graduated and when i get my own job next yr...can't afford metclub on a college students null income ;)

  • what i make a college students income too and i'm a member! you can shake out 45 bucks a year come on.. its beyond worth it. and if u join btw, pm me cuz if i get five people to join and put me as a reference, i get guitar picks and sticks and stuff! haha

  • I've been considering getting a membership as well. I live in Canada so I'd have to purchase the 60$ international membership, but I've still been seriously considering it. Is it really that worth it? Do members get first dibbs on tickets for shows in their area as well?

  • Not necessarily. It grants you access to most shows. However some surprise bands are not announced till the week prior, there are scheduled changes. Plus if a venue is at full capacity, you have to wait in line to some people come out, because of fire marshall code.

  • for me its totally worth it. and i'm not sure if that guy maybe just joined, (no disrespect to him i may just have misunderstood) but the only show i've ever had to wait for people to clear out is this show in austin. every other time i've seen metallica through metclub you can usually enter the empty venue 15 or 20 minutes before the public. and yea, like today for example, i'm buying tickets to all the shows i'm going to this year, and they go on sale for the public on the 4th and 11th

  • i no u....Ms Slauterfield

  • why is that one dumbass looking in the opposite direction of the metal gods themselves?

  • That's the security guy. W3 is the best in the biz.

  • I think he is part of security.

  • Crowd sucks!!! Metallica I promiss you: when you come to Norway the 30th of July; I`ll be in one of the front rows banging my head off, and singing until I have no voice left! You deserve nothing less!

  • lights are hatin on ur cam

  • DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE! DIE, MOTHERFUCKER, DIE!

    Oh yeah!

  • shut up! thanks to this I can watch metallica in a real live performance and enjoy it

  • MOTHERFUCKER DIE!!

  • man!

    i wish i was there

  • fuck them cameras, HOW BOUT SOME PIT ACTION

  • Pit action was actually right behind us - there's a barricade about 2 people in front of us. In front of the barricade is a line of official SXSW photographers, which might explain why everyone in the front row has a camera.

  • I don't understand it. Cameras everywhere? This society has become completely a Facebook/Myspace world. What happened to just living your life and not worried about how cool you are because you were at something?

  • Totally agreed man.

    Sad but true...

  • oooooh nice one ;) lol

  • "What happened to just living your life and not worried about how cool you are because you were at something?"

Have you considered the possibility of using cameras to preserve memories of extremely rare opportunities?

  • I volunteer for the film festival. It has to be pointed out that a lot of those people are volunteers whose job it is to photograph the event for SXSW.

Even so, who gives a fuck? There was a fucking pit raging about two feet away from where this was shot, and I was in the damn thing. But thanks to people like the dude who shot this video I can relive it any time I want. Long live technology...

  • Thanks Narage, I also need to point out that I put away the camera after the first song and started rocking out with the rest of the fans in the pit. :-)

  • Because being at something is living life. I was there is was effing awesome... Amberlin Acoustic was awesome too =D

  • too many people holding up cameras. way too many. I would've payed so much to rock out there and there're people standing taking pictures. get out.

  • yeah it's totally idiot

  • that's me holding that big video camera in the photog row!

  • powerfull!
