Love the list, the only things I would change are to add The Third Man and Citizen Kane for On the Waterfront and Double Indemnity (although both of those films would be in my top twenty endings).
The Last of the Mohicans, 28 days Later, American History X, Wristcutters: A Love Story, Super, Terminator 2, Menace II Society, the 25th Hour...just saying bro, these are good too.....I also thought South Park the Movie had an epic ending too.
gloria swanson acted so perfectly on the role of norma desmond, you can feel the crazyness that she was having and how she imagined that all that was happening was another of her movies
North by Northwest is a terrible ending. Nothing, I mean nothing but an uneducated dolt could believe this ending could have ended this way. Let's start with running from the house to the faces -- sorry, but Rushmore has a back side to the mountain.
North by Northwest had one of the worst endings I've yet to see. It was a great movie, but it was ludicrus how it switched from the middle of the climax to a 5 second sentimental ending.
My best endings: The Usual Suspects, Fight Club, The Shawshank Redemption, The Secret in their Eyes, Casablanca, American Beauty, One Flew Over the Cucko's Nest, Psycho, North by Northwest, Memento
oh come on movies2films the ending for psycho is all about anthony perkins , that look to camera spawned a million crazy killer copies , fuckin genuis !!
Imagine what it's like to see the ending of Sunset Boulevard in a movie theater. Norma's insanity is already creepy as all hell, but when she says, "Just us, the cameras, and those wonderful people out there in the dark," and then *gestures towards the audience*? That just made her outright terrifying. She was practically acknowledging the audience. Not the ones watching the footage of her arrest. Sunset Boulevard's audience.
I think Scarface has one of the greatest movie endings of all time.I know all it is is a shoot out and then he dies, but think about it. It has Drama (his sister dieing), Action (obviously the shoot-out), Excitement (the fact that he's took hundreds of bullets and is still standing there cussing them out), Suspence (the man creeping up behind him that makes you think "TURN AROUND!"), and the moment that leaves you speechless for a second (when he dies). All that in one scene is definatley great
vem fan är fittan som klättrar på väggen? har hon lite till liv eller, jävla lesbiska fittor som försöker ta över väggjävel , hur kan man se ut som henne. I´m gay and proud!!!!!
I really want to see North By Northwset, i have seen Psycho and Rear Window and i own Vertigo! I gonna watch Vertigo or The Birds today, gotta box-set for christmase!
what the fuck. i watched like 4 mins of ppl climbing around fake cliffs and because this list is called BEST FILM ENDINGDS i was expecting someone to turn traitor and push the girl off or the guy to shoot her off. but they both end up getting away? how the fuck is that a special ending. fucking worthless shit. whoever uploaded this just get cancer for bein an idiot please.
@DisabledPeopleUnited Hey, there is no need to be aggressive - that's just the uploader's opinion and he is entitled to it. Its understandable that you wouldn't be able to appreciate the ending to North By Northwest without first watching the classic film because without the rest of the film, you can't care for the characters. It is also difficult to feel the amazingness of Hitchcock's tension and suspence without knowing what is going on and why they are fleeing. The tunnel is also a subtle pun
@alexxx526 well i wasnt really aggressive maybe just a bit. but i mean half of these "great endings" are from films that are shite anyway like stupid old black and white crap for olden people. i wanted a list of top quality thriller films not some old peoples shit back when film was first invented - thats shit. and even the good films the uploader picked didnt have great endings. this list is a failure. and its shit
Just because a movie is black and white doesn't mean it's old and crap. Film was invented in the late 1800s and most of these endings come from movies from films made in the mid 1900s. These were not made when "film was first invented."
You should try to appreciate more movies. In your opinion, what's a "Top Quality Thriller Film?"
@movies2films well wat i mean was all these so called great endings are from films that were made before movies became good. them old black and white movies that noone watches anymore. and the endings arent even anything special. i could of predicted alot of them without even knowing what the movies about. nothing special happened. ive seen a few good thrillers recently once upon a time in mexico was good, inglorious bastards was even better and i think godfather is the only good film here.
North by Northwest richly deserves a spot on this list ... I remember seeing this in the theatre (at maybe age 10?) and ... shown here at the 3:20 mark ... screaming my guts out -- with hundreds of others -- when the precious Eva Marie Saint was shown clinging to her life. Great Herrmann score, Great Stuff, Great HITCHCOCK.
Yes. I do like the film, but not the ending. I think it's one of the most overrated movies of all time. I still like it; just not as much as most people do.
@movies2films Don't forget that they actually changed the ending for the movie. In the book, the protagonist wakes up in intensive care (presumably after coming down with a case of 'bullet to the head' syndrome), and thinks everything's worked out alright...until one of the doctors says that they're looking forward to when Tyler returns. The book's ending has power: when you create and unleash a monster, it's not so easy to stop it.
@professionalassasin mey be it just me, but i don't think that end is what really happen, I belive that Eve actualli fell and the last seconds (the kiss, the train) is a mental fugue by Cary Grant character, like in Jacob's Ladder or the end of Gulliam's Brazil.
@movies2films I would disagree. Hitchcock's endings seem sudden. I will agree the climax of Hitchcock's films are tremendous, but the endings themselves are not fantastic. For example, the explanation in Psycho after the mother is revealed is lackluster and not enough, and the example hear (NXNW) is one where Hitchcock just wants to make another stab at the Hays Code by having the phallic train enter the tunnel. Maybe I'm being too technical, but the climax is much different from the ending.
@timbmartens1 ... but you have to admit, Eva Marie Saint was precious ! I saw this at the theatre as a teenager, and remember that when Cary Grant recovers and spots her clinging to life on the edge of the cliff, the audience exploded in screams. Great Stuff !
The Grey.

@StanBennet i think your comment indicate who is the real "uneducated dolt". (same for @liamsp544 ).
NbNW has a great ending; consistent with and witty as the movie.
i never understand ppl who expect literal realism in movies.

i have to agree with all the selections in the video,(though not with the rankings bc i think we should not rank such things in a list).
of course there are many more great endings.
