While the thought of us (UK) getting involved in another middle-east "war" sickens me, doubly so because my little brother is in the army (currently home from Iraq for a few weeks), I really don't see an end to this conflict unless someone steps in. You got it right with the playground thing, but voices won't get through to these people.
I, like twinklybird, am not as informed on the situation as I'd like to be. But knowing innocent lives are being taken is enough for me to conclude that it's not right
Personally, war will not bring this conclusion, so the worlds citizens need to stand and make this happen. It will take a lot of work and won't happen over a day. Any Ideas? Or just more arguing over this single topic!
In my opinion, though innocent lives lost are hard things to hear about, they are lost in most conflicts and the only way to truly see an end to it is for world peace. Which means everybody stopping war and conflict and getting along. Hopefully sometime in the future we'll see this but as for now, we aren't. If people actually are going to make a stand it needs to spread globally and all world leaders have to start realizing this and working towards it together.
I personally dont like getting involved in these sorta things because it becomes somewhat overwhelming, I don't believe in taking sides or anything but your right that people should take action and it shouldn't take citizens of foreign countries to motivate their governments to do so.
i really didn't like the term "unnecessary violence" it doesn't reflect reality. Palestinians have got the right to be free.They live in their land. I dont see this present violence as Israeli vs Palestinian, but Israeli vs terroists, whose goal is the destruction of Israel, not a attaining nation for the Palestinian people, except through the extermination of the Jews. It's very simple. Hamas believes violence is a justified means of political expression, and as part of is charter has the destruction of the state of Israel (& the extermination of the Jews living there). It's interesting that all expect Arabs can live in Israel (and they do, politically represented), but the Arab areas of Palestine must be devoid of any Jews, what so ever.

In my opinion, though innocent lives lost are hard things to hear about, they are lost in most conflicts and the only way to truly see an end to it is for world peace. Which means everybody stopping war and conflict and getting along. Hopefully sometime in the future we'll see this but as for now, we aren't. If people actually are going to make a stand it needs to spread globally and all world leaders have to start realizing this and working towards it together.
