I first heard this version on Dec 23, 1966 at 3 - 4 a.m. I remember the date & time because I was driving on I-95, going home for Christmas leave. I was stationed at Fort Bragg, & my unit was leaving for Vietnam in January. Our CO granted us leave even though we were close to shipping out. I wanted to hear Silent Night and at first I was upset because I thought the signal from another station was cutting in. When I realized it was part of the song, it hit me in a very profound way.
Anyone know where the song can be downloaded for an mp3 player? (Prefer legal but will take any other way! lol) I can't find it on any of S & G's alblums. Thanks!
Doesn't this say it all about why Jesus Came to us?

When this was recorded in 1966 I doubt anyone thought it would still sound so familiar 40 years later.

Over 40 years, and not much has changed except for the names and places.
