Also, I like both Roses. This one looks more like the character of someone who gets a lot of guys because of her looks. While I liked the acting of the other Rose, and the way she spoke was charming, so you could well see her sweet-talking a lot of guys.
can i ask a question? why is it any of Hyacinth's business? and why are there still milk bottles in Europe in the 90's? nevermind. they still have homes with outdoor plumbing over there. Good to be an American.
@Booski1974 well i guess if u feel that way. we narrow minded american's have indoor plumbing and drink milk from cartons and jugs. so just call us Advanced America. [rolls eyes].
@musiqtube1 obviously you don't travel America that much. Not everyone is plumbed inside, and there are still people doing the bottle thing. Doesn't make us better, more advanced or less.... is just different. The difference is what makes british comedy so wonderful.
@musiqtube1 sounds like american mrs. bucket. just not so funny! FYI i have a milk service in america because i think their milk is better and it's very convenient- just pick it up at the door. it's Oberweis milk, it's also humane and sustainable and "come from a picturesque cows on the hill" ( i actually know farms it's coming from (some of them anyway))
@musiqtube1 Most people here buy cartons, and have indoor plumbing. Don't judge an entire country on one sitcom and some misinformation you heard from somewhere else. America doesn't have the monopoly on all things modern.
@MegaJParry i completely agree the old Rose was the original there for will be my favorite always. She was soo dramatic and it suited her character perfectly!!
Hyacinth reminds me of my late stepmother, a social climber. She was from Virginia, daughter of a roadbuilder. She was active in politics, met a couple of presidents. She made a remark once, "Whenever we see ... and ...." referring to a past president and his wife. I cringed.
Also isn't it ironic that Hyacinth is as average as can be, she is not even the rich sister. Violent IS the richest of them but she is down to earth as is daisy and rose. Hyacinth has nothing to constitute her snobbery, but is the main one trying to look down on people.
She reminds me of my aunt with her made up outlandish demands, rules, and ideas. Thinks no one knows anything but her. Feels obligated to give advice to everyone on things she knows absolutely nothing about. In everybody's business, and making people with her uncomfortable in b/c of what others think. She had a problem b/c I fell asleep in the car saying other ppl would think something were wrong with me. I said it they have never seen a person sleeping, the problem was with them not me.
Wow, it went from an overnight stand, to giving Elizabeth an exorcism, to her being a madame. Beware of assumptions children, they can be quite dangerous. And what do she mean by 'continental'?
@conther33 Okay, I thought so but wasn't too sure. I should watch more of this to brush up on my Brit speak...That sounds like a good reason to stay up all night watching this right? -Looks around for those who agree...silence- No? Ahhh, come on!
The FH is the logo for the New Zealand earth-moving and road construction company Fulton Hogan. Apparently a friend gave it to Geoffrey Hughes in real life, and he wore it on the show.
'' I'll tell you why I don't like chatting when I'm making love to you. Because the last time right in the middle of things you said to me...Onslow if I'd died in childbirth would you have married again?''- Onslow
''Well would you?''- Daisy
''Married again? I couldn't even finish making love''- Onslow
Funny how Rose calls so many of her lovers Mr whatever and that they all have such daft convoluted names-Bickerstaff, Crabtree, Heppleworth, etc. Is it cos they're married or is it a dig at British etiquette (no first names, etc) I wonder....
I actually feel sorry for Hyacinth most of the time. She tries to be exetremely nice, but is competely unawhere that most people (save for Richard, and sometimes Elizabeth) are either scared of her, or downright dislike her.
I think she's wonderful woman, full of charm and character, with a white slimline telephone and hand painted Royal Doulton thrown in.
LOL@msunami-I so agree....Hyacinth means well....she's just clueless.
The sisters are all so different...wonder if it's the men they chose in their lives that made the difference in them.....or not(when it comes to Rose)
I doubt that it is the men who made them different. If anything, I think that they would change the men who are in their lives. For example, if Onslow or Bruce were married to Hyacinth, I doubt that they woudl act the way that they do. Or if Richard had been with Daisy, I imagine he'd be a lot more assertive. But it wouldn't really be the same - I like the couples as they are. :-)
@msunami I do feel sorry for her, in fact. She is just always trying to change her station in life, and that is what causes all her perpetual troubles. Imagine if she had actually been born a duchess or something? Her life would be perfect then.
If u would watch season 1 it would make it much clearer ( and with your attitude towards 23GreyRaven THANK YOU for making it clear you were not American - and showing your true colors )

Whats wrong with milk bottles ? Its an optional service to your door and is actually more environmentally friendly.
As for outdoor plumbing -very uncommon usually in very old places in the countryside, like the US.
An unbigoted, educated mind that doesnt live in a world of stereotypes - Good to be European.
