still have not hooked up the tach yet, been to busy with other parts of the truck (like body work and transmission console and shifter), and its been way to cold out to work in the garage some days, i will post as soon as we have the tach hooked up, imagine next week we can hook up the tach, it was hooked up before on the other 302w, but doesn't seem to work right now? we have to work out a few bugs
thanks Brent your a great guy.same mods and same engine wow! right down to the coil. i have a video its me revving to 3500 with a bad timing chain, it sure does sound like it has a cam, but i hope not lol because my timing wouldn't be at 6, i would probly have to run 8-10 btdc
thanks for the complement! and comment, glad i could help, and how was the fte website? there is lots of good info on motors on there, and where do you live? i live in London Ontario, we just got hit with more snow :( and more on the way, wish summer was here! all the best and have a happy new year!
man man man, i was trying to time my 302 torino over the weekend with the same mods and i had no luck. for 71 its 6 btdc but it just dosent sound smooth, and it still misfires. on and i always idle get an idle at about 1000, i turn the idle screw all the way out and it dies or doesnt start. can you help me>?
did not have a problem like that with mine (was turn key, just a little tweak on the carb), because it came rebuilt, you see the motor came as a extra with the truck, and i swapped the old 302 out for the rebuilt one (the one in the video) so i can't help you there, but i will pm you with a good site to ask some questions
thanks Richard, i think your referring to wertup123, did ya check out his channel and torino! its really cool! :) and is the brother to mine! :) same year and mods, and we both have no idea if a after market cam is hiding in it! :) lol i don't think mine has, but the 4 barrel and performer intake sure helped it breath better! :) thanks for helping out one of my viewers :) and your right it could be a cylinder compression, lets hope it isn't, that sounds like money, and i know all about that! :)
yeah it does sound good, when i first uploaded the video it was only in normal quality, i just checked it and its high quality, the sound is much better, and the garage is so dark, the dang florescent lights dim in the cold winter air :) i wish we had heat out there :( thanks for the comment!
yeah man i set my youtube account up so whenever i click on a video if it has the "watch in high quality" feature my computer automatically plays it in High quality so i dont have to click it.
thats what i thought! :), to my knowledge it was rebuilt, with what i don't know? but we removed the heavy boat anchor intake and put the super light edelbrock performer intake and edelbrock 4 barrel performer carb (with electric choke) and the engine number decoded out as a 1971 ford torino 302! so its torino power :) and it is super smooth, no vibrations, and it really shakes my feet on the concrete floor! ;) thanks for the comment! and can't wait to hear your 360 with the new goodies ;)
you and I both brent hows the throttle response out of that edlebrock you got im assuming it is a 600 or 650 cfm carb right? Gotta love the old torino power!
i got the 600, with electric choke for luxury ;) lol and it only cost me some 200 bills :) lol it was a rebuilt one direct from edelbrock and it has weber on the side, i heard that edelbrocks and webers are one in the same, and edelbrocks/webers are the best in my mind of carbs, and the good old ford carbs where good carbs too, but i wanted a reman 4 barrel so edelbrock was the best choice, and i will never allow holley in my engine bay ;) and the intake was 189 and the air cleaner was 89 + tax!
I bought a 1970 torino and im waiting for it to run so i can hear that sound.
