The relationship between Ireland and the Brussels elite is not one of a son amongst a warm family but an abusive relationship, comparable to the interaction between the cocaine dealer and the cocaine user. Initially the dealer may extend a generous line of credit. One must, nevertheless, retain the independence of mind to realise that this is not a selfless act 'charity' on the part of the cocaine dealer but a devious scheme in order to make the user exclusively dependent on his supply.
