You got that backward. Forza is more of an arcade game, whilst Gran Turismo is a driving simulator. Not a fanboy of either series really, Gran Turismo has better driving dynamics but looks pretty terrible sometimes, as well as the damage mechanics being plain boring. Forza plays better, so it's probably a better 'game' but GT5 is definitely the more accurate driving sim.

I own both forza and GT5, on the simulation and graphic part GT5 wins slightly but I have alot more fun playing Forza because it has the Trans Am GTA ;P GT5 kinda failed when they imported 800 cars from GT4 where you can't view from inside the car and has bad graphics, only 200 cars in GT5 has "uber" graphs and real driving. Also, the tuning part on Forza is better :)

the damage option is simple. it's either cosmetic or simulation. in cosmetic damage mode, your car will be damaged on the outside, but it is still able to race. simulation damage is affects your car inside and out. it's like saying to someone, "do you want your face sprayed with acid or your bones crushed?"

that's not very realistic, at about 70 miles an hour, I have seen WAY more damage than that with a Mini-cooper and a tree, the mini was totaled, the engine was pushed into the dash and replaced the driver in the seat, and there was no front end anymore.

In game set the crashes to simulation and you can destroy a car.

Downside of Forza 3 is that on the Montserrat course shown, there are several places on the course where a bad crash should send you over the edge of a cliff face into oblivion.

F3 prevents that from happening. I wish that with simulation level collisions you would have the ability to purposely do a "Speed Racer" over a guardrail and go flying into the great beyond like a movie trailer.

However the rewind feature and autobrake are strictly optional for people that are new to the game. This is a game for everyone who is either new to the racing genre, and also have assist options for the seasoned veterans.
