That tore up me up. I would have thought that after all the crazy things he's knocked back on this show, durian would've been a cinch. It's admittedly an acquired taste but one that took me personally only one mouthful to acquire. Delicious stuff.

The Philippine Durian in Davao City doesnt smell much. it smells like the same Gas you smell in Gasoline stations and they taste really good. can even make candies.

Dont hate on him just because he doesnt like durian. A lot of asian people dont like it either, i mean look at the signs around prohibiting the fruit. I know my wife family loves it but i know of others that dont. As a "westerner" to me it smelled like rotten eggs but tasted sweet and creamy. So now i associate the smell to something good. To others it just plain taste like crap. We dont all have the same taste buds. This man eats some things that i will only eat out of survival.

with durian you either love it or hate it. ive only had durian that was sold to me frozen, i'm assuming the fresh durian is much better because frozen /thawed durian smelled like onion and dirty gym clothes and tasted mostly what it smelled like, if anyone can tell me if fresh is better i would love to know.

I had the same reaction (5:30) when I tried durian and I'm from South East Asia. So never assume everyone from these countries like the fruit. However I'm surprised that Andrew can stomach it since Bourdain can (and he really likes it).

I hope Andrew gets a proper guide next time because I've never heard Malay being pronounced "Maalay" before.

Durian is enjoyed the second time you tried it. You will never like it the first time, try it like after 6 months or so and you'll like it. My dad and one of my brothers had the same opinion. I buy durian from the big supermarket at a shopping mall so they're kinda expensive. I wish I could find them at the wet market :-(
