No, here's how Braveheart should've ended. At the Wallace's execution. Some of Wallace's soldiers should've dressed up as executioners, and when Wallace shows up they could cut the ropes and set him free and then they could escape on horses. Why Mel Gibson didn't think of it, too bad. Anyway, the movie did have a happy ending even without Wallace. At the end of the movie narrator says: Robert the Bruce and the others finally liberated Scotland.
