Queensryche's lyrics were so ahead of their time. Nowadays, you have a lot of people laying into government and religious corruption, but no one was doing it back in the 80s. It's a miracle they didn't get protested or boycotted.
@psyoptica i think that there was as much corruption then as there was now but that ppls just didn't know nor see it cuz the gouvernment had more power and control.
The Ryche wrote about this Wall Street movement 23 years ago and people are just now figuring this out ? how pathetic. It's sad how many people have never even heard of Queensryche. Metalheads included!
@Fretslayer Tell you what strawberry shortcake..I've heard this faggot defense a billion times and like I always say a billion times. "If you think I might be a closet faggot..then put your money where your mouth is..come into a room with me and bend over to see which one I do..stick it in or beat you within an 1" of your life". And like always this is where you shut the fuck up and feel like an imbecile. That 3rd grade mind game BS doesn't work on adults bro.
@PinkyWontWork Wow! You start off calling me 'Strawberry Shortcake' then 'bro' and you call yourself an adult? Almost as interesting as your knee jerk reactionary hyper defense of your sexuality while at the same time suggesting you' prove what a man you are be beating up on somebody you think is gay. Interesting... 'Faggot, Closet, Come, Me, Bend Over', Stick it in? Methinks though doest protest too much. Thank you for validating my point. Oh, and My what huge Keyboard Muscles you must have.
@PinkyWontWork Put my money where my mouth is? What exactly are you attempting to say? Now as for what you refer to as a 3rd grade tactic.... CLEARLY it did work. So now what? Is this the part where you threaten me from the safety of your couch? Is this the part where you say '...come here and I'll (insert pathetic threat here) to you'' because you're half a world away and this has emboldened you? Because really, it's quite comical. Thanks for entertaining me. Please continue if you can.
@PinkyWontWork LOL! Not in the least.. Having said that I think you should understand how something. Perhaps this will help. - Projection is a defense mechanism that involves taking our own unacceptable qualities or feelings and ascribing them to other people. Projection works by allowing the expression of the desire or impulse, but in a way that the ego cannot recognize, therefore reducing anxiety.
@Fretslayer Yes, for liberals and progressives I'm sure that's how it works. I however live in the real world you know? Where violence is a necessity sometimes and it's results are proven. Where the weak die and the strong survive. Where the lazy and uninspired tries to demean the success of the hard worker. You're probably one of those weirdos that believe in women rights and how gender is "uNIMp0rTANTS" because we have to have "eQUalITY" right? In other words you live in never never land.
@PinkyWontWork Because somebody needs to tell you that going through life misogynistic and homophobic is unhealthy for you. If you take the time to educate yourself regarding these things perhaps you can then begin to address the root cause of your issues. If you do research into why you're homophobic you might have to admit some things to yourself but in the end you'll be a better person for it. I've done all I can for you. The rest is up to you. I hope that answers your query.
@Fretslayer Lol, I can tell you very quickly why I'm homophobic. 1. I don't want any faggot, liberal piece of shit forcing their beliefs on me or loved ones. 2. Faggots are fucking disgusting. I have a little trivia for you..you'll love this one. Ever hear of a faggot dying of natural cause? Name just 4..good luck. All die from drugs, alcohol, aids, depression. Ah and I LOVE women. I'm not "mizK0gYnIstiK". You a faggot aren't you? Or someone in your family is.
@PinkyWontWork You are one disgusting son of a bitch you know that? It's real easy to call others faggots from miles away aint it? Be thankful you don't live near me or I would beat your ass.
@ByTorthePinballWizar Here's my other account on boxing and gym BS. "alexincera" tell me again what you'd do if I "LiVED nEARZ y0U". Next..
I remember them touring for this album when it came out and seeing them in concert. Geoff changed the lyrics to reflect the times "A way to pay for wars in Saudi Arabia" (it was during the first Gulf War)
The title of this album always makes me think of the Thought Police from 1984, haha! Anyways, one of the coolest tracks from one of the best rock operas of all time!
Religion and sex are powerplays. Manipulate the people for the money they pay. Selling skin, selling god. The numbers look the same on their credit cards.
I listened to this when it was a tape!! Vocally stunning, atmospheric, haunting, melodic, top notch drummer, Queensryche was one of my greatest joys to listen to as a kid. It was a different world then. Musicianship was so respected....

Im struggling with one line, does "He takes her once a week on the altar like a sacrifice." mean the priest is fucking her? So she never really left the Prostitution gig?
@Tinaruon low self-estreem, brain washing, previous profession...the priest got his way. But he should not have done it cause Nikki thought otherwise :-)
"Father William saved her from the streets. She drank the lifeblood from the saviours feet. She's Sister Mary now, eyes as cold as ice. He takes her once a week on the alter like a sacrifice." That is a very powerful verse! Great album!
But has anyone solved the whole Operation Mindcrime mystery of who really killed Mary? The whole album is an epic story. Supposedly there are clues throughout to reveal Mary's real killer. This was one of my favorite albums growing up.
@h1ghstrung Yes, around 2004 In "An Evening With Queensrÿche" it was revealed that through mindcontrol (similar to the way Dr.X controlls Nikki) a voice on the phone forced her to kill herself. Nikki then sees her and in a strange daze burns her body. It is not known why. Maybe he thought he really did do it. Maybe he knew he'd get framed and tried to eliminate the evidence. Maybe he was just trying to pay his last respects.
the rest of their material--whatever--but this album is an absolutely brilliant work. Absolute masterpiece conveying such an amazing 1980s underground feel. Makes me wish i was older in the 80s!
1 of the best concept album of all time..right next to Pink Floyd..placed the shit out of this album...and 25 bucks a fuck is damn pretty good price...A.F approved?
Operation Mincrime is a mastepiece. the whole CD is reallly powerful. Queensryche has been one of the most underated bands. I would love to see them live someday. Keep rockin fans
Rofl, James Labrie in Dream theater at live at the marque, I've NEVER seen anything better in my entire life, Queensryche's specialty is in studio, But Dream Theater arn't disappointing live.
thanx for the comments, this is my first upload and i somehow managed to put the track on twice, but hey like jfayiii said its not such a bad thing, anyone listened to jerusalem by bruce dickinson , its a must
Oh yeah, and also talks about how there is abuse from high ranking church officials! Check yourself american religion are you holier than though? I think not
at leat prostitution is illegal in america, in my country ( germany ) its a normal thing there is whorehouses all over the city, its a normal business here they pay there taxes and noone realizes what a sick sick world we live in
If you look at my comment again you'll see I said "from this CD". If you are fimilar with the lyrics you will know that he blasts corrupt politicians and the compliant media as the real sorce of the problem, hence Revolution Calling. Get with the program kid
@nickeriffic totally f*cking agree!!! This album is awesome, all the songs connect into a story, the only other equal may be 'The Wall' by Floyd, but this speaks more strongly against the state and the church... while I don't believe in revolution, there needs to be a change!!
@nickeriffic Geoff Tate is a good singer, but my friend met him, and said he thought he was better than anybody, and anything. like a spoiled brat. =( sadly
@bmxdood11, that's too bad that your friend didn't get a good vibe from Geoff Tate. I have met him a few times and he has always been personable and charming. Maybe he was having an off day, like we all do at times. Hope your friend gets another chance with a better experience. RYCHE ON!
@bmxdood11 People say shit like that about famous people all the time, usually, as in this case, it ends up being bullshit. Geoff is a good guy. I met him during the tour for this album, just a random fan, and he was cool as shit.
Did they play the song twice in this video?

the rest of their material--whatever--but this album is an absolutely brilliant work.

On occasion I forget how incredible this band lyrics, guitars, rhythmically, and Geoff Tate has such a stunning voice.

They seem to be STUCK in FORMULA!
Frenetic Heavy Metal is to me an Unfortunate Waste of a probably good band's innate talent
for seemingly insightful lyrics.
Please show me (with clear analysis)
that I am wrong about them?
This is coming from an aging Jefferson Airplane fan, looking for a modern day version of them.
Any ideas?

Operation Mincrime is a mastepiece. the whole CD is reallly powerful. Queensryche has been one of the most underated bands. I would love to see them live someday. Keep rockin fans
tasteymonkeypudding 3 years ago 26
@tasteymonkeypudding
I love Queensryche,,,,this album especially. Lightning in a bottle.
I could never figuire out why they could never duplicate anything even remotely close.
As for seeing them live,,,well,,,,a bit of a let down if you ask me.
Kind of like seeing dream theatre live,,,,I wouldn't recomend it.
I've seen Queensrcyhe in concert twice,,,,not at all impressed.
DarkoMarco72 1 year ago
@DarkoMarco72
Rofl, James Labrie in Dream theater at live at the marque, I've NEVER seen anything better in my entire life, Queensryche's specialty is in studio, But Dream Theater arn't disappointing live.

Prostitution is quite legal in some parts of America.

Legal or not, its still filth preformed by failures of people.

Until people realize how true the lyrics from this CD are, America will continue on this path!! It's time for a change!!
daliOtter 3 years ago 2
Not really...
Religion and prostitution don't have such a big influence on this country.
falconclaw5000 3 years ago
If you look at my comment again you'll see I said "from this CD". If you are fimilar with the lyrics you will know that he blasts corrupt politicians and the compliant media as the real sorce of the problem, hence Revolution Calling. Get with the program kid
daliOtter 3 years ago
Woah, blasting politicians and the media. How original.
Don't get me wrong though, the lyrics are awesome, they're just not exactly on the level of the declaration of independance.
falconclaw5000 3 years ago
queensryche is awesome live.. if ya ever go.. must bring chronic
meatpuppetply 3 years ago
haha why'd you make the song play twice? the actual version is only 4:07.
falconclaw5000 3 years ago
marina did it for me, I can't play this song only once per sitting

Queensryche............need I say more?
rycheaholic 4 years ago 5
When I was in my late teens, I was totally and completely captivated by the message that this concept album conveyed to its audience. To this day, I still hum the tunes to myself at work. Queensryche hit on something big, and I never understood why they were not as popular in america than they are because they fu©kin ROCK! Rock on Queensryche.

@nickeriffic ummm... dio? bruce dickinson? sebastian bach!!!!!!!!!!!!!! jeez... lol
Seandude223 1 year ago
@nickeriffic totally f*cking agree!!! This album is awesome, all the songs connect into a story, the only other equal may be 'The Wall' by Floyd, but this speaks more strongly against the state and the church... while I don't believe in revolution, there needs to be a change!!
jofjlkc 1 year ago
@nickeriffic Geoff Tate is a good singer, but my friend met him, and said he thought he was better than anybody, and anything. like a spoiled brat. =( sadly
bmxdood11 1 year ago
@bmxdood11, that's too bad that your friend didn't get a good vibe from Geoff Tate. I have met him a few times and he has always been personable and charming. Maybe he was having an off day, like we all do at times. Hope your friend gets another chance with a better experience. RYCHE ON!
lowriderbandfan 1 year ago
@lowriderbandfan no like his agent told him to not talk to him unless he talks to him first. but its a great band
bmxdood11 1 year ago
@bmxdood11 People say shit like that about famous people all the time, usually, as in this case, it ends up being bullshit. Geoff is a good guy. I met him during the tour for this album, just a random fan, and he was cool as shit.
OutlawTrucker32927 1 year ago
@bmxdood11 he is better then everyone though.
