the reason why ppl in sl talk so much about killing cows is due to our culture. Cow is a big part of sl culture. cow is like a part of familly. when a kid is born to a familly you bring a pregnant cow as well and calf and kid grow up together. Just like dog is part of the familly. so killing a dog or cow and eating its meat is like killing someone in your familly and eating its meat. this has nothing to do with buddhism.

We cannot stop getting sick , having pain , having fear , pressure , getting old and losing your strength.
But with trust in Allah we can avoid getting into hopelessness and frustration. When the going gets tough we just leave the affairs to Allah and be patient. This is why Muslims have low rate of alcoholism, suicide, etc.

We are puzzled actually why there is so much hue and cry only about killing cows.
On poya days they openly sell dried fish, canned fish, shorteats with all meats, etc. Even McDonalds and KFC are open.

the reason why ppl in sl talk so much about killing cows is due to our culture. Cow is a big part of sl culture. cow is like a part of familly. when a kid is born to a familly you bring a pregnant cow as well and calf and kid grow up together. Just like dog is part of the familly. so killing a dog or cow and eating its meat is like killing someone in your familly and eating its meat. this has nothing to do with buddhism.

If you go to the villages in Sri Lanka, the cattle do all the hard work, pull carts, plough the fields. And if the cows are pets why steal the milk from them without their consent. In villages, they let the calf suckle for a minute or two and then forcefully pull the calf away, tie it to a tree and start filling the bucket. So much for being a part of the family.

Therefore in sinhala culture eating meat that belongs to cow is like eating your mom's flesh. you can argue about this all day long...thats the reason sinhala ppl do respect the cow and would not eat its meat.

While doing that I also try to learn about other religions just in case they happen to give a better explanation about this life and the life after death. But so far I have found only Islam offering the best explanation.
Thats the reason why ask questions and convey what I know of Islam to people who follow other faiths. Basically it is a learn and teach process.

hi buddha didnt commit suicide. according to buddhism the nature of a buddha is that. a buddha will come to earth from thusitha from an invitation. and preach dhamma from an invitation. and attain parinirvana from an invitation. when he was invited to be attained to parinirvana by maara. he willed his mind to attain parinirvana on a certain day. according to buddhism thats how buddha's behave... they decide the day that they attain parinirvana ahead of time.

so thats not suicide its given that buddha's life going to be over. he can decide the day its going to be over. if buddha's agra upasthayaka invited buddha to attain parinirvana late he would have done so. however he has preached 37 ways to attain nirvana his mission is over. therefore he accepted the invitation of maara. the nature of buddha is he cant be killed a buddha will only be passed away once he was invited and he has decided to attain nirvana.
