This is not a good version of this song. too many instruments on stage; the backup singer looks exactly like my bff's grandma, the saxophone upstaged the guitars solo; and the guitarist wasn't the same and his solo was too choppy and not clean like the other one.
One of my favorites of all time. This group is so talented, just wish they would have been larger here in the states as they were in the UK. Our loss, but the music is not lost here!
It seems the truly gifted musicians close their eyes when they're playing/singing and the music just flows....Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison, Angus Young and on and on. You all know what I mean. Mark has the gift.
How does someone play so much damn bass while singing?! Ridiculous. And I thought Sting was bad-ass! Also I like this tempo better than the studio recording, which was a little slower.
there no bass synth part to this song , its all mark playing, hot water and lessons in love have bass synth in it with mark playing on top for extra kick
this is bass playing at it's finest. The Alembic series bass guitar is superior, and it shows itself sonically here. He could not do that well on any other instrument. Alembics are so clean sonically that every nuance of his finger playing is revealed. Any mistakes would have been magnified dramatically on that bass. Hats off to Mark for bass perfection. Being a bassist myself, i would actually be afraid to play the Alembic because it demands very high skill level, let alone affording it.
Is Mark chewing bubble gum at the same time of doing vocals??? If that's the case, I'm impressed by his timing and control of his jaw:-). Anyway, great band and some of their songs will live for ever
It was synth bass with bass guitar over it. Some of the earlier version the keyboard player would play the bass parts on keys while the bass guitar pumped it out also. It adds a mystical touch to the feel of the song. Another track like this is Hot Water and World Machine from that same album.
This song is so awesome and addicting that I bought the ring tone for my cell phone:) I live in the states, and every time
my phone rings in public, I get asked what song is being played!! I hope that people really do pay attention, and Level 42 Fever will continue to rise!!!!.
gary husband is a technical drummer,he 1s a good live performance artist,u can hear evry detail of his performance, amazing!!crisp cymbals jazzy and funky beat, bet his good coz mark is also a good drummer himself, m sure d band wont settle for anything less..
80's bands are way much COOOOLLLEERR!!Luv this band since 85'...Mark King your the Man!!Is that Justin Timberlake on the Piano? hahaha!!just kidding Folks!!L42 1 of the Best!Tnx for posting this video.
ya but i didnt think this was at the Hammersmith ? its from a VHS called 'Guranteed Live' if theres a DVD from that tour i wasnt aware of it at all because i ve been trying in vain to find it everywhere ..
I would love to see them again too after 20 yrs ... more then almost anything else these days i think ... he is just utterly amazing .. right up to this day ... although i confess i cannot pick a fav anymore .. this was the first one i heard Mark sing and go .. ohhh who does this beautiful voice belong to ? long before i saw a video or even knew what he looked like ... that voice captured my heart in this song ... ohh listen to me blubber .. hehehe !!!! :)
Oh go'wan and blubber, we all do, lol. This song is special to me because it's the first song I heard by them that I absolutely loved, and when I stupidly lost touch of their music (still can't figure out why) this is the song I caught on the radio a few months ago that made me INSTANTLY love them all over again. Really loving the ride too.......Met some really nice people thru YOUTUBE on account of that. Hi Gals....!
Honey, I'm right there with you. This song totally sold me from the first time I saw it on MTV...I thought "Who is this?? And more importantly who is the blonde headed hunk with the amazing voice??" I still lose it over him! LOL
Yes Sam/Cehamh this one is my all time favorite too. How wonderful to have UTube to see this. Without this venue, we would never have seen it. I am in heaven with you my friend. We must go and see them in person!!!Thanks again for putting this on here Kolbola (wild name :) Love it, where did you get this?????? Cehamh and I want it. hahaha
