ok, I am going to resolve this debate. Basically, to hit a fade , your left arm must control the swing. Simple as that. The push, pull explanation is simply describing the feeling you should get if your left arm is dominating. This is opposed to what it would feel like if your right arm dominated. It would feel like pulling the club back with the right arm then pushing it forward, which is the reverse of the left arm domination.
@tjack2themax527 he's referring to the fact that jack nicklaus is famous for hitting a high fade always. ask zach johnson if he hits a high fade. i'll save you the time, no. he doesnt. he hits a draw. not all pros hit fades. ya.
No kidding. I guess Sam Snead and Tom Watson weren't "f-ing good professionals." Not to mention the fact that different players fade the ball with different swing thoughts when they need to (I mean even guys like Snead et al. who are natural drawers) because they have different orientations to the swing, bring different natural tendencies to it, etc.
@tjack2themax527 I will miss Johnny's commentary the day he stops doing it. Until you win majors and know the golf swing like he does, you're the dumbass.
you doubter trolls are idiots... If you listen he is dumbing it down for exactly u. Hes not saying retail spine anlge, swing plane this or that, degrees of this, supinating penis etc... If you tell a 10 hcper to push the club away at address and drive the swing with the left arm - it stays in the lead and the face stays open. If you even "think" these thought your release will slow down in a normal swing and a left to right ball flight happens.... "Keeping it simple for stupids" year after year.
I think some of you are a little too critical on Miller. He's a swing 'nerd', all he does is study the golf swing and I think he has claim. The man in his prime was a premier ball striker that was so good he could hit distances to the half yard. Although you may be ignorant to his lexicon pay the man the respect he deserves, there is a reason why he is a US Open champion and we're here arm chair quarter backing.
honestly he has no idea what he is on about you dont have to know the golf swing inside out to be good at golf go to wayne d francescos channel he proves why he doesnt know what he is talking about
@SGGolfCoaching Well said , his analysis of the swing in this clip is quite possibly the most idiotic one I have ever heard , push me , pull you , and the dominant left arm produces a high fade ! I personally think steve williams made him tighten the shoe laces in his left shoe and turn his hat 3 degrees to the left before this swing which as everyone knows , is the true technique to produce a high fade!
@TheBimtf Yes. It is a result of passive arms epecially from the top. The hips swing level as he stands up/ walks away. ALA Gary Player hits shots where he literally takes a step forward.
Johnny Miller and Gary Koch can both take their bullshit negative comments and shove them up each other's flaming asses. Every time someone starts to immitate these dicks (like they know what I'm doing and I don't) on the golf course, I tell them to shut the fuck up too. Play your own game and shut the fuck up. Push that...up your ass, Johnny Miller! Annoying ass geezer...
Any tips on hitting a iron fade? Everyone says open the face and point your feet to the left. Give me a break! Everyone has heard that. Tell me something else. Like mabey unwinding the hips to the left more than you would for a draw? Mabey that would help.
@JAKEHARRIS281 the reason people tell you to line up your feet to the left is because you want to exaggerate the outside in path of the golf club, creating the fade/slice ball flight.
other motions that help to exaggerate that motion are to bring the club on more of an outside path on your backswing, so that you'll tend to come back on that path on the downswing.
lastly, i try to follow through without releasing too much
By his own admission, he needs to tone this move down a bit. But his first move down is shifting the weight into the the left heel so a slight vertical head drop/ squat is correct and necessary. His head doesn't move left to right hardly at all and that's the very important. Also notice how the shoulders don't turn very much during the initial weight shift to the left on the first move down.
i no the secrets to the golf swing :D something that tiger does and camilo villegas does as well. learned it from camilo's coach in medellin colombia, and its critical with this secret you must keep your head STILL and swing all the way through with your head down.

If you stop it at :15...with the club at knee high.. you can see the club face is still almost pointed up at the sky - normally its already pointing left (toe perpendicular to the ground)...

IF you think of it as a Bow and Arrow...your body is the bow and your left arm is the string/wire...stretch the club back then let the left arm "pull hard" (usually resulting in a ntural "over the top" move above plane) and "drag" the club thru impact ( ala Hogan) no "flip of the hands" and you get an open club face, right to left divot (for righty) and a vary predictable "start left cut right" ball flight ...high if you do it right.

Watch Tiger hit his 4 iron. It doesn't do us handicap golfers much good, but it is fun to watch.

I have a feeling Tiger decided to hit a high cut, and then proceeded to hit a high cut. Pretty simple really.

@SpringerSpike dude, he gets plenty of power without that squat. when he was 18 he could hit it 340 yards and he didn't do that squat.

are you joking???.... his head moves down quite a bit.
In fact, its the one thing that bothers me the most about his swing... his signature 'squat' during his downswing.
