the thing that you didn't know is a forward assist and it decompresses the spring so that over time the fps does not get lowered in your gun. Although the gun you have isn't extremely high end so it won't work. I have the same thing on my gun and it doesn't work. Just a quick question. that button on the side of the gun is called the forward assist. In the real version it pushes the bolt forward to prevent jams. When you first put a mag into the gun you want to cock it with the charging handle loading a round. and to make sure that the next round doesn't jam you press the forward assist. you don't have to do that for every shot but it's there to help you.

@TheThreePedestrians no it isn't, that 'thing' on the side is called a forward assist mechanism, it is used so you push that 'thing' with your right thumb as it is on the right side. Then you can pull the bolt back to check if there are any bullets left in the breach before reloading.
