It varies as to what makes people interested in Japan and animations. It should be obvious that there is a difference, but sadly the world is full of ignorant people. Common ignorance is more present than what should be common knowledge.

As for me, if I like, I like. Ethnicity usually isn't a factor unless it reflects a culture.

I say nothing wrong with wearing a shirt if you like it. Hell, I have an Angry Birds shirt just because I like Angry Birds. However, it does suck that instead of having an interest, there are those who wear an anime related shirt just for status. It is annoying to see that. It's also sickening when those people get pretentious about Japanese anime. "Oh you have to understand it." What kind of crap is that anyways? It's worse with games.

I really want to see what all the singers look like in real life. Some have REALLY beautiful voices (J, Re:, etc.) and some actually share some similarities with the actual voices of their avatars (I thought nayuta sounds similar to Haruhi).

Nico Nico Douga...the epitome of anime and memes with medleys as its flagship of awesomeness.  I'm sorry if this doesn't make sense; I'm tired. 5/5 to you for posting this and a sincere thank you to whoever started this chorus craze.

Actually the portraits just represent whose voice the singers sound most alike, the singers themselves aren't actual voice actors.

From a logical point of view, nobody would spend such a large sum of money and time recruiting all these voice actors just to sing a fanmade song without actually copyrighting it and trying to make a lucrative business out of it. The deciding factor that proves they are not the real voice actors are the names below the portraits; none of which I recognize represents the actual voice actor of the respective portrait.

Whats to say that the voice actors themselves didn't do it out of charity or fandom? Japanese voice actors tend to be more open to ideas like this and the borders between anime copyright and their companies are much more loose then they are in the US. And I also fail to see why someone would go through the trouble of getting a bunch of sound alikes. And if you can't connect the voices to the portrait then I would get your ears checked or actually pay more attention to what makes a voice distinct

First of all, real voice actors don't sing with this kind of quality. Secondly, getting a bunch of sound alikes is a lot easier than you think compared to getting the real ones to sing. Thirdly, thank you for your concern over my ears, but even with my impaired hearing I can tell the difference between real actors' voices and the voices assigned to the portraits. Lastly, if you haven't noticed, there are several names which appear under different portraits that are not voiced by the same actor.

Yeah, the closest this could POSSIBLY be to the actual voice actors were if the guys over at Nico made vocaloids using clips of the voice actor/actresses' speaking or singing, which is extremely hard to program and I doubt even the guys over at Nico are THAT awesome.
