You can put dish cloths or sponges in the microwave for 2 minutes too and it kills 99% of the bacteria, just be sure they are absolutely soaking wet so as to not start a fire! I did this at a house with a septic system where we couldn't use bleach.
Did anyone else cry toward the end, this is the first time I did that on any of the episodes. I felt so sad when the mother cried standing in the bedroom they shared and all those Children running around, him not there to see them every day, heart breaking. Glad they got a break.
@babymac004 agreed. I'm not a huge "kid" person usually. To me, kids are just small people and anyone who knows me around here knows how i feel about people. But these two kids are SO adorable.. it's really hard not adore them completely.
ahhh i admire ingrid for keeping everything under thumb, i know if i ever lost my man i would never be able to get over it! my whole house would look like her upstairs! bless her for doing it all for her kids! best of luck xxxx
Regarding the dish soap/bleach mixture comments: Bleach mixed with ammonia is deadly, but dish soap mixed with bleach is no more toxic than adding bleach to a load of laundry. Some dish soap and laundry soap brands add bleach to "enhance cleaning power." That said, bleach alone can be dangerous and products like baking soda and vinegar are safe and very effective for both dishes and laundry. But then again, if I ran into some of the crud these ladies do, I'd probably use bleach sometimes, too!
First home that Kim and Aggie have asked to have the kettle put on. Before the cleaning. Tells you that the mother is quite clean in the home, but quite soft on the little ones.
I've watched hours of this show on youtube now, and they keep suggesting "washing up liquid", which I believe is dish soap, mixed with bleach. But that is a toxic combination. At the least the fumes will irritate eyes and nose.
I know that washing up liquid is dish soap. But they suggest mixing it with bleach. Not a good idea. Bleach should not be mixed with any other cleaning products.
Our house rule from the very start is "food and drink stay at the table". Saves me from alot of the problems other parents have because they simply can't say no ;)
Eleonor looked a lot like Winona Ryder when she was little... she'll grow out of the awkward age and blossom into a beautiful lady... she's such a sweetheart.

The mother is so upset with the death of her husband, my heart goes to her but I think the children esp the 18 year old shouldve just just had a week off decluttering and it would've been sorted.
To be honest I could never ever let my house suffer like this.
If you had watched the video their is a distraught and disturbed mother bearing 4 children, her husband had died and he loved to have a clean home, and his wife appreciates that.
My comment was referring to that, that when she had felt her house was getting out of control they should've teamed up to clear the mess, that way the women as well the kids would have appreciated the fact that theyre father 's home is clean (which was his pleasure).
TO TEAMCRUMB - I know the family quite well and theyre all are strong willed individuals. The mother is a good religious women. she loved her husband dearly in fact the only way she felt better was to keep the house in order as her deceased husband would've preferred.
That poor lady. I sure hope those kids helped her keep that place clean. I would say she should have been more strict, but, given the situation, I can truly understand.
This was a great episode! People don't have good reasons for being untidy. With this family, one really saw how the whole family mourned their loss by not cleaning, as it was the father's job to get everyone working.
I'm happy that Kim and Aggie choose this family to help, because the mother really needed support in getting back on track. The kids are adorable. The 1st born is so responsible, helpful and grown up. 2nd and 3rd born cheeky and sweet. Mikey is the only roaster in the hen house!
I cried with Ingrid.

What I meant by taking a week off was that eventually when she was physically and mentally able clear out she should've.
I felt that you comment was a little patronising wasn't it.
I hope one day your life falls in shit and you realise that sometimes you'd do anything to make a deceased loved one happy even if they are dead!
