  • 2/28/03 = n00b national holiday

  • still better than nickleback at least...

  • Comment removed

  • my god...

  • wow glad hes back

  • Trey snorting heroin on stage

  • Holy crap, Trey. You gotta eff up pretty bad to get Fish all flustered! ( 0:12 - 0:22 )

  • this is quite horrible. as much as I regret to have missed the "golden days" of phish in the 90's, I'm more than glad that I didn't have to witness this mess. Pretty unfortunate. However, I am totally diggin the 3.0 days so far (jams are great :) ) and am more than happy to be a follower of our beloved band. Keep on rockin' phish, and stay fuckin' sober trey, for yourself and for us all!

  • Trey looks like an elderly man lost in a crowded place.

  • disregard phish 2.0 children of the future

  • @tommytentiming 2/28/03 says your wrong

  • @cumminba not even going to bother listening, so yeah

  • This is actually my favorite version of glide i dont know why everyone hates it

  • Coventry was such a low point in Phish history... I like to pretend it didn't happen, that the guys were just "on hiatus" for those five years.

  • Every time I see this video it makes me sick to my stomach.

  • the dark days

  • oh my god that was harsh

  • I was toward the back of the concert field for this and I remember thinking that they must be having "sound issues" because Trey's guitar sounded like crap. I guess I was as in denial as much as Trey was.

  • misery loves company 3:31

  • Some people were going crazy (it was prob their first fest, I don't blame them...I guess) but unfortunately only the people as or more fucked up than Trey could help themselves from cringing about every 2-10 minutes on average during the Cov. sets, this song, about once every 2 secs.

  • Haha, haven't listened to this in years (for a reason). It makes me want to puke.

  • i'd like to see you guys play perfectly after breaking up with people you've been with for 20 years, and crying in front of thousands of people who think you're gods. if you can even play a note....

  • @acdcbag69 i dont think anyone is criticizing them personally.....the fact that they had every reason to be a mess this night doesn't change the fact that this is a total fail lol

  • HORRID... so glad i missed this shit show.

  • hey man, they just got done doin wading in the velvet sea... this was something to glide us out of that heavy moment

  • @lenphish wading was after glide

  • Thank God Trey is sober now.

  • omfg glide FAIL..... fucking ginger always fucks it up

  • this is so painful to watch

  • 2:30 for the loss...ouch

  • i'm so glad i couldn't go to the "last" shows. best thing that ever happened to me.

  • man. it takes a lot for trey to not be able to play at all.

  • @elipardue Then what was wrong that kept him from playing?

  • damn near impossible to watch this

  • I love this video. I'm SOOOOOOOOOOOO glad Trey sobered up.

  • epic

  • why didn't they just stop and laugh about it

  • so sad.....

  • i can't watch this. it makes me sad.

  • 52 hours in traffic, and i still made it in, with my car. and oh did that make me shudder. seeing them at the hampton reunion shows was the biggest and best redemption EVER

  • whoa...

  • huh. not as bad as i remember it being.

  • fuck all the naysayers cause trey got full redemption minus the drugs at msg. nailed glide. and for the record, glide is an almost impossible song to play. especially on heroine and pills and shit

  • its not THAT hard man

  • massive train wreck....but they redeemed themselves last night.....

  • Do you not remember the emotional Wading in the Velvet Sea that preceded this song?? Don't judge!! It was still amazing to see. Grrr!

  • hurts to watch and listen

  • without drugs, it's much easier to attain great psychedelic exploration. don't be confused about that point. without drugs, it's easy to be completely lucid, exploratory, poetic, and psychedelic to the maximum. it's a fact based upon experience. drugs just leave you with a lot of b.s. to overcome before you will allow yourself the freedom to do what you do best. Years of emotional stagnation can take a few years to conquer.

  • Ouch!

  • When I heard the wood blocks I started screaming, "GLIIIIIDE!". Then this came... The whole festival was like a slightly less shitty version of this glide. Atleast had an adventure. I was in line for 30 hours before I got turned away went home with my friends and rode our bikes 15 miles in. By the end of the first night I'd been up for 70 hours (I didn't sleep the night before I got in line, big mistake). I just wish the music had been great. oh well their back and better!

  • Worst show ever. I've never seen Trey drunk on stage, and he was blasted. I think he fell asleep a few times up there.

  • That's not drunk.

  • he's in a heroin stupor. great stuff, kids. drugs are, like, really cool, dude. he oughtta be in jail.

  • So Why didn't they make a Conventry DVD for Phish's last show EVER?

I like the Oh My Gods from the camera guy

  • this video alone will probably keep trey sober

  • can i get my money back now

  • painful....i can't watch

  • I was there. They were HORRIBLE the whole weekend. Trey blew it. Painful to watch.

    Luckily, they don't suck anymore!

  • such color~!!

    such expression``!!

what a stellar performance of this song!!

  • hahaha is this real?

  • make it stop

  • drugs are bad.....mmmmkay?

so glad they all cleaned up, sound really good now fwiw.

  • it's such a delicate balance... Without drugs, Phish never would have had any of that really good psychedelic experimental compositional exploratory shit from their first few albums.

  • lol, trey looks like he's about to stumble off the stage right before he tries to play the beginning notes. that was rough.

  • phish shreds!

  • i was there, it was the worst show id seen them play.

  • hey were you at Hampton before this?? that was so bad I could not believe it....The only show I had time to get to so far was Knoxville...and it was AMAZING....so GLAD that they are better!

  • Hey, you try playing after a little H, Xanax, and a some percocet. It's not easy.

  • its not good for trey but god give him a break one non perfect show

  • Trey has always worked harder than anyone in the music industry; his sobriety now continuing his legacy as an exception to the cynics...... many of whom populate these boards and seem to find a voice for themselves reflecting on his worst moments.

  • man, i had l always heard how badly they sounded that night, but this is the first im actually hearing it. Trey is a disaster!

  • Watch Mike at the beginning....he turns his head, then goes over to Fishman and they have a good ole giggle fest!! This is so sad.....All we can do is really hope that they'll be on this summer....

  • being at camden last night they are no joke.. ON POINT!

  • ... and the hampton shows were on point too!!

  • lol...havent heard this since it was played...terrible! actually im still hiking home from coventry right now.checking in from iphone.what a fucking slop fest

  • why are people clapping for this wankfest?

  • oxycontin will impair your ability to function.

  • ouch.

  • FAIL

  • WORST - - - PHISH - - - EVER

  • train wreck

  • 0:14 LMAO..."whoa"...coventry makes me so sad

  • This song is one of the reasons returned to the stage in 2009. Sad, disgraceful way for one of the greatest touring bands in history to end a career. The boys had to come back and make it right.

  • The dude in the beginning that just goes "whoa"...that's hilarious. Good thing they're back to rockin' again tho!

  • Why would you upload this video? Unless your goal was to portray phish at their worst.

  • cant hide from the past phanner

  • Not only does Trey sound like shit, but he looks like shit too... jesus.

I'm glad this is in the past.

  • F- Trey, F-

  • this is painful....it hurts!

  • and treys all fucked up on heroine

  • but i love them anyways and i can wait to go on tour this summer

  • no band has a spotless career

  • drugs are indeed bad.... but an emotional performance of wading in the velvet sea right before will do that to ya too

  • No, I think it was the drugs dude. Notice that Page, Fish, and Mike aren't having much trouble.

  • drugs are bad

    mmmkay!??!

  • damn im glad glad glad a cop told me to turn around via shotgun. cocaine is a hell of a drug..

  • yikes. just as bad a i remembered.

  • the low point

  • gives me chills just watching it

  • what a crazy night

  • ok taken out of context this was super awful. but it was directly after Wading in the Velvet Sea, which the entire band finished in tears. This isn't like "they cant play anymore", it was at a very emotional breaking point during their last show. Listen to the Split Open and Melt after this song, they blow off a LOT of steam in a very good way.

  • I don't know whether to laugh or cry. It doesn't get any worse than this. Trey better stay off the smack this time around...

  • lol, you guys should have been there in the hayday. this was brutal

  • We're glad, glad, glad, that Trey's alive....

  • that's painful. at 0:15 poor Mike almost gave himself whiplash looking at Trey. Jon looked truly disgusted.

so glad Trey cleaned up and seems ready for more Phish.

  • 25 hours in traffic for this little diddy.

  • Wow, this is incredibly sad to watch

  • this was the lowest moment for me at Coventry.

  • the problem was, it was no longer fun for them, it had become a job. I'm guessing the job sucked sometimes. Phish doing the secret language on stage, particularly in the middle of, say,"possum" was something that was characteristic of Phish at their best, along with the jamming. It was an organic type of thing which occured as the whole Phish was blossoming. Then it bloomed and then it died. I don't think it can be reproduced.

  • your an idiot noob Kizes007 please kill yourself, best show ever? youre retarded

  • wow phish. i have heard this on cd and knew it was bad.. but this is much much worse than i remember lol. i just feel bad because i know the extreme emotions they were fighting. i can honestly say ive never heard them so shitty.

  • L-O-motherrrrfucking-L

    look at Mike's reaction.

  • LOLZZZ!!! Some things are better forgotten.

  • Wow, this is the 1st time I've heard this since the actual 1st night up there. What a disgrace. Trey really blew it for everybody.

  • I love how the person listening notices how dreadful this performance is. At least someone still has their ears on.

  • Yeah and played them too. lol

  • They are excellent musicians, who have written a lot of songs, some very difficult, and they have memorized a ton of songs. High or not.

  • Yeah they do write very difficult songs, and they also memorized a bazillion kazillion songs. So he forgot how to play a part of a song. So what? I've heard of worse things. It's actually not a "bad" thing at all. You can say what you want, but maybe after you commit as many songs as they have to your memory, it would even be relevant if you still disapproved. Which you wouldn't. Rock on.

  • I'm sure he was all choked up and what have you, but I think his technical ineptitude might have had something to do with D R U G S! I stopped seeing phish in 97 because I saw them going downhill, musically speaking. I just figured it was your typical rockstar downward drug spiral. The more I've read and hear about the Phish breakup, the more it's clear that Trey was out of control on the drugs. Very, very sad.

  • i must say before hearing this i was a fan of saying whatever if they werent amazing after hiatus most of their shows post hiatus were better than any other show id want to go to but after this i really hope they never get back it would truly ruin it for me

  • this is their last show. you can tell the focus was not on the music but the emotions they were fighting. the shows during that last run in 2004 i thought were fairly good. it never got back to phish in their prime, but that was when they ate, drank and slept phish. if they return and want phish to be what it once was, they would have to put in that energy and effort that was once their. but dont say they would ruin it, because we dont know that yet

  • It was tough to watch in person and still tough to watch a few years later. I don't regret going to this show, but I was hoping for more of a "Last Waltz" type of show.

  • Do you have any more coventry footage?

    Your commentary SAYS IT ALL.

  • you know, trey was probably in tears the whole time...which might explain why he sucked...imagine playing the last concert with your three closest friends...i would be depressed as hell

  • awful

  • Everyones on but Trey

  • WOW. TRULY Terrible.
