what the fuck! thats crazy, so you can't smoke anywhere..this is getting beyond a joke...there trying to kill our culture, what the fuck, they just want us to be taxx paying money machines..this is beginning to get annoying
"Im standing outside in the F***ing rain/ And theres people in the toilet snorting cocaine/ Its easier to do coke now than smoke/ The Smoking bans beyond a f***ing joke"
time to get the politiciabnns heads on sticks and burn parliment down if you ask me. nice of tony to tell me i can't smoke while he jets around the world and drives a big car, churning out more carcenogenic filth in an hour than i do in a week.
The whole idea of banning smoking is completely ridiculous. I don't smoke myself, but even i'm annoyed with it. Why aren't people protesting against it on a large scale? .... I'm surprised people are going along with it so calmly....
Knifesedge, this was predictable. For those who don't know about smoking bans worldwide: once indoor smoking is banned, patio/pavement smoking is always next on the hit list, on grounds of "reducing noise". We can expect a nationwide outdoor ban before long. The puritanical ban mentality can never be satisfied; if one "undesirable" activity can be banned with public support, more will follow. Either we resist these erosions of freedom, or we tacitly declare our support for authoritarianism.
very good comment , the pro smoking ban people don't see the bigger picture. now that scotlands bars are empty, they are trying to ban cheap supermarket alcohol to force people back into pubs they no longer frequent because of the smoking ban.
Yep, it's shocking. It's quite clear they're trying to coerce people into changing their personal behaviour, which is reprehensible. Convince, sure; persuade, go ahead; encourage, why not; but COERCE? That's a clear contravention of liberty. Fascism -- plain and simple.
On the subject of Scotland, a friend of mine says the pubs just stink of stale beer, now the smell of tobacco isn't there to disguise it. I think it's time for me to get out of the licensed trade!
We are fighting this ban. Ventilation should have been the way forward and non-smoking venues. If you do not agree with pubs, clubs ect not having a choice, please support us.
This goverment is allowing a witch hunt on a legal product. Will not be long before fat people are turned away from restaurants. Not too many perfect people so there will not be many pubs left.
oh well, all the smokers that cant go up the pub anymore, will smoke at home in front of their kids, superb!!!!!!! obease fat kids that have lung cancer, thanks T.Blair and Gordy Brown, No next Generation!!!
I think at first businesses will suffer, but then the places will be packed out with more non smokers, and it will soon get busier and busier, until smokers themselves think ~"I'm not letting smoking ruin my life" and go out to the pubs anyway. In a year or 2 it will be the same as busy as it is now.
It is clearly social engineering,no other ban has had so many milloins thrown at it.Look to intolerant California,to see where this is going.
If you think this ban is wrong and you would like a voice, Please go to freedom2choose dot co dot uk

The smoking ban is unwanted legislation which is a draconian infringement of our human rights and should be repealed immediately.
If we had not become such a nation of sheep, we would all disobey it. The government cannot imprison every single smoker in England ...

The ban is rediculous, I dont want to smoke but what the hell is wrong with allowing smoking and non-smoking pubs etc to coexist!
If so many people wanted non-smoking clubs they could just enforce that privately!

Ban smoking outright!!! I fucking hate smoke

Well, July 1st it comes in outright - no workplace can have smokers. I'm for it as a non-smoker but against it as a business man.
