*melts* omg I'm such a vocal music dork :P I don't know about you guys, but I find it super super SUPER HOT and an insane turn-on when a guy sings a high note like that. I giggle like a perv. *teehee!*
the only thing truly wrong was he should have added a bit of vibrato as it ended to sharply, BUT when hitting such high notes it is very difficult to 'turn off" the voice in less than an abrupt manner so i give him props... for those judging him on his, "choice" get off your high horse.. if no one ever made the "choice" to sing such notes, no one would know it could be done... he's still a great singer, it just could have been more smooth, great job though
0:00-0:12 = Gorgeous!.... 0:12-End, not so much... He has such an incredible range alone, he shouldn't waste it on his falsetto. So says a jealous bari-tenor.
That was very unnecessary. It makes absolutely no sense in the context of this peice. Okay, great. You can make that noise. It's not pleasant. Just because you can do some things doesn't mean you should.
that was an artistic choice made for ABSOLUTELY no reason. not any good ones anyway. which makes it a BAD artistic choice. and it sounds like crap too.
If you like this style of singing is a matter of taste, but I don't understand why people here keep saying that the note is inappropriate and doesn't make sense. It totally does!! Both lyric wise (the word is 'high' for crying out loud!!) and it's the last climaxical note of a power ballad!!
@TobyHine subjective? you stated it wasn't difficult to hit a Bb5. Give me 5 tenors in your immediate vicinity that have no trouble with it. Hell, since it's subjective and all, give me 5 non-singers that can hit it too, since it's not difficult.
@kylezo Many of my tenor friends (and all of my countertenor friends) can hit that. I don't consider it particularly difficult, myself, but I'm not trying to say that every man has a soprano C.
I said 'falsetto high notes are not difficult' (meaning 'in general, when compared to other more technically challenging choices) If he'd have retained some resonance (by not falling off the Eb5 just above his break) then maybe it would have worked for me.
Great voice....but his choice of where to add that note was completely uncalled for. I worked a production of this show with a guy who could sing like that too and he used the note for a much shorter span in the middle of the song and it worked beautifully without being a bold distraction.

that was actually kinda gross. it had the tone of hitting my face with a baseball bat.
LordKakumei 6 months ago
If he'd have kept his vocal chords connected, it could have been an interesting choice, but to fall off the tone like that is just unpleasant.
News: falsetto high notes are not difficult.

@TobyHine it's a Bb5...hardly a 'not difficult' falsetto high note.

@kylezo My mistake, on a totally subjective point.
