il be honest with you, as much as rollers looks cool an stuff... and seem practical... there not that good.. your not having to put much effort into it. and i you had any brains and wanted to get something out of it, then you need to adjust the roller layout, take a few min to think about it. make it so its all on a slant,.. like a mild hill.
better still, get out there with some music, on the country roads. and do the real stuff??
Rollers are much more enjoyable than a trainer as they require a great deal of balance and actually involve you in riding the bike. As to resistance, they have and adjustable drag on the rear rollers. They are also more difficult in that you can't stop pedaling without losing your balance and falling off, coasting is not allowed.
Rollers create a good stimulation exercise. Whats wrong with a little training before going out and experiencing the real thing? Besides, its not always possible to go out and ride. Rollers are hard enough without making things more complicated like adding a slant. For example, if you are struggling lifting 50pds, why try to lift 65? Get Gradually work your way up to more complex routines, like adjusting the roller layout.

You guys are stupid if you think rollers do not provide an excellent workout. You have obviously not even been on a set before.

you obviously haven't ridden on rollers like these. it is quite difficult to keep your balance.
