@Samanthak76543 Taken from Touhou Nekokayou: Scarlet Weather Archive in Japanese Red by KimikoMuffin, comic number 106 (4koma): Detail Spoiler/Double Foiler.
I like the game but I'm not getting it. What is the general Strategy to this game? Up-close and personal as the boss is about to attack then snap a photo or is it something else? (Good photos/ Nice Shot)
@Hewkii As far as score runs go, you want to be fairly close to the boss when you take the picture, because if both the player and the boss are in the shot, you get a "Two Shot" bonus for an automatic 1.5x multiplier. As for the "Nice Shot" bonus, it's awarded for taking a picture while the boss's spell ring is active. There's usually a large tick when it appears. It shrinks within half a second, and the larger it is, the bigger the bonus.
Hmm. This looks really, really fun compared to Shoot the Bullet. I'm considering getting it after I beat StB... as if I haven't had enough of Kinkaku-ji and all of Shikieiki and Komachi's mind-numbing, horrifying attacks :D
Would you say it's a better, or at least a more fun game than StB?
@SpootyBiscuit Hmm, that's odd, seeing as ZUN claimed that it would be significantly harder. I guess it's all in the perspective, but maybe he didn't realize how hellish some of his creations were in Shoot the Bullet...
@Terabyte672 It's sort of a matter of "quality vs. quantity", I think. Double Spoiler is significantly LONGER (108 vs. 85), but I think there's just a few specific cards in Shoot the Bullet which are just ridiculously difficult/tedious that I find it more taxing to 100% clear than I did Double Spoiler.
@SpootyBiscuit It's the same way with me. Right now, all I have left to clear on Shoot the Bullet are Kinkaku-ji and 9 assorted cards from Level 10 and Level EX. Level EX and Kinkaku-ji don't actually bother me - IMO, ZUN did a good job of balancing the difficulty and the fun there - but the cards on Level 10 make me want to go kill a kitten or something. Specifically, "Bar of the Ten Kings" and "Guilty or Not Guilty" are really absurd. I've taken hundreds of shots without even coming close.
Oh, and just as an aside, I've been trying FOREVER to get Komachi's "Rain in the Afterworld Journey" completed. Incidentally, I reached the point of having taken six out of seven shots and having 100% camera charge after less than 50 shot attempts... And then, as I moved the viewfinder up to get the final picture of Komachi, I DIED. I have been trying ever since to clear that scene, and have had the same thing happen to me at least 30 times. My number of shot attempts? 1150. I HATE StB.
@zeldalink78 Assuming you're talking about the spoiler stages, they obviously weren't meant to be hard. They're more there just to advance what little actual storyline this game has.
Spooty..i have a better way for this...swell scoring one..when she takes a picture and about to move she shoots bullets right...i take a pic of her RIGHT after the bullets appear and she slightly moved
So not only are you trying to prove you're better, but that you're 30x better AND you can be while using really crappy equipment (Because you don't get to shoot 1000s of bullets or take a picture every 2 seconds)
5:06 I about had a fangasm when I saw that. This is by far my favorite spell card in MoF and I'm glad ZUN put it in this game so well! Good job with that last shot too...that looked like it was quite difficult.
At about 5:06 onward....I wish MY camera could take action shots good enough to use! How come HER camera can snap Aya's highspeed flying without blur?!
3:51 - 5:01 maybe its cuz ive been playnig a lot of PCB's extra, but those two cards remind me a lot of Ran's spellcards (Princess Tenko Illusion and Summon Shikigami - Chen)
Hatate is also marginally slower than Aya the fastest in Gensokyo. The dialoge for these levels is reflecting the differences in characters/mechanics - Aya is jealous of Hatates rapidshot (3rd card/faster reload from bullets) and Hatate envies Ayas zoom (6th card/faster thus further crosshair) They also regard each others last card as admitting defeat.
you did an amazing job and its so cool thanks for the videos im stuck on 8 but since i watched your videos im gonna try a few new strategies now thanks alot ^_^

@Terabyte672 I enjoyed it more than StB (though I love both of them). I think Double Spoiler is probably overall easier, though.

god damn, they churned out stages in level three that made even some of the EX stages look simple

talking about shoot the bullet
they managed to pick out the two characters in particular in stage three with patterns i just cannot get used to
meanwhile stage EX has scarlet, who has one of the most straightforward patterns you'll find since stage four

Touhou games have storylines? I thought all of them were just "someone's doing something you don't like, go beat them up."

Hatate's camera is pretty impressive, considering that she can catch Aya moving like that without motion blur.
