Notice in this trailer they show the cop firing and the owner of the club yelling release him but neither scenes are in the film(though it seems to be an alternate take at the ending or maybe it is a scene that was cut which better explains what happens to those side characters). Dont think too hard...this comment isnt a spoiler but just wonder if anyone else noticed this as well. And for all you newbies...black "Kato" mask and "Chen Zhen" = Bruce Lee homage.

one the best donnie yen films ever. i loved it i give it a 8/10. the music in the fight scenes made the movie epic. donnie did it again he always manages to blow me away with each film. the ipman 1 and 2 are still my favorites. but this one gave off a dark feeling as if i was watch a 1920's version of spl. im buying this when it hits the states on bluray:)

I'm Chinese and I feel as though my fellow Chinese are not educated enough on this. I read a chain letter a few days back and I think it really captures the essence of it. If you go to Korea you'll not see any sort of Jap products, cars, w.e.. If you go to China there are too many consumers of Japanese products. If us Chinese can combine our purchasing power together and boycott jap products then perhaps the jap will think twice b4 offending our country like the fishing incident last month.

Donnie Yen, you make us Chinese proud! Yes, this movie is a remake of Fist of Fury 1972 starring Bruce Lee relating to Chen Zhen. Yes, Donnie wore green hornet mask and costume, which shouldn't be in this case. Anyway, it's a good try except the ending is too abrupt.

Doesn't matter whether it is the actual remake a not. After all, it's a good try by Donnie Yen. In fact, Chen Zhen is a fictional character so movie can be fictional as well.

I actually saw it at premiere at the theatre in Hong Kong. To be honest the movie isn't really well made as compared to his previous action flicks, but it's still worthwhile to see if you are a Donnie fan. (in my humble opinion, I think SPL and Flash point are his best movies made so far)

@ryanc519 I would add Yip Man movies as #1. :) But you are right, SPL and Flashpoint have one of his best fighting choreography. The fight between Jet Lee and Donnie in Once upon a time in China II is absolutely legendary! I've seen this one now - and yes was quite disappointed. Donnie looked silly as a ''super hero'' figure - and there was just too much fixation on Shu Qi which was annoying... Nonetheless, it wasn't a complete waste of time :)

Jet Li's Fist Of Fury is a master piece. In my opinion Jet Li's Fist Of Fury has one of THE BEST fight sequences. I really hope Donnie Yen's "Fist Of Fury" is as good if not better.

Looks like many of you have forgotten Donnie's great fight scence with Jet Li in 'Once Upon a Time in China Part 2'. Donnie played an Imperial general who was opposed by Jet Li (as Wong Fei Hong, of course). They fought twice -- once using short poles but sharp & fierce, and the second was the climatic fight scene where Jet used a 10-foot bamboo pole to repel Donnie. Phew! Go catch it! I notice many of us here are mostly commenting on Donnie's newer films but dun forget his fights with Jet Li!

Not enough scenes to really comment. I respect Donnie as a martial artist foremost. He is very inventive and wants to create new ideas and scenes with his action crew. It is nice he takes the approach of spontaneity in his fight scenes and tells his screen opponent to just go with the flow, this adds a bit of realism to the scene. In the world of martial arts, he definitely will beat Jackie Chan as he is foremost a stuntman action and martial arts star. In Shanghai knights, you can clearly

The Fist of Fury/Legend returns as... Kato? I like the concept of Chen Zhen returning to china as a masked vigilante to continue his fight for China without exposing his identity. The painfully obvious nods to Bruce Lee are kinda gratuitous. Or was this the only way the Chinese could do a non-captastic version of 'The Kato Show' since the American 'Green Hornet' is going to suck?
