  • How could someone dislike this video?

Jon is the best rythm guitar player on this planet.

  • ojala youtube tuviesee reproduccion cuadro a cuadro

  • fuck he's old

  • дждждждж джджджджд -примитивно

  • I want that Johnny Cash T-shirt

  • Every time I heard this riff. I BANG MY HEAD.

  • I don't want Jon Schaffer signature guitar, becouse i'm not worthy

  • Fuckin A !

  • 2:25 i kinda learning the song :) its my repeat button

  • King of down picking ...

  • how did that motherfucker managed to own an Explorer like this??? I am so jealous..... Hail Jon

  • weird...in jons quitar says dont dread on me...its metallicas song and that snake logo is on metallicas black album

  • @ttannia1 Basically the guy is a history buff, civil war mostly, being that he did a trilogy based on the fight at Gettysburg, and he has a store called spirit of 1776, i would guess that its more to do with the fact that its kind of a homage to the Gadsden's flag. Has nothing to do with the band that used to be metallica, and is now a bunch of old farts that cant make a good album since Justice. I'm just sayin....

  • @dentros thanks for a history lesson

  • @dentros atleast this old farts are in the rock n roll history.. Also this old farts are the number 1 80s band.. U name me one better band that could overplay that old farts in that decade.. Also.. This old farts are out there still playing their music.. Now let me tell u somth about a young fart.. A young fart is someone that sits behind a screen and tries to get attention by calling a band that is signed on this guys guitar old farts.

    c u and have a nice day.

    Dont get mad,

    J.Hetfield

  • @TRGpwnez Name one band? Slayer, Megadeth, Iron Maiden, Ozzy, you said one, but heres extra. 1. they havent released anything notable since Justice. And what is on his guitar has nothing to do with Metallica, it has to do with American history,. Oh yea, I've also seen metallica live a couple times and its funny that metallica doesnt include much of the post black album in their set list. Just because they are still out there doesnt mean jack. Motorhead is still playing too.

  • @dentros so you know.. the guitar he is holding is a metallica signature... cause 'Dont T on me is a song in Black album which logo of it is on that guitar...

  • @TRGpwnez so you know, that the "Gadsden flag" came before Metallica by a couple hundred years, and no it has absolutely nothing to do with metallica, if you knew anything about Jon Schaffer, the creator of Iced Earth, you would know that he is a huge history buff, and that isnt related to metallica. But this feels like a one sided conversation, since you know nothing about what im talking about except metallica...

  • @TRGpwnez "Don't Tread on Me" is an old slogan/motto that dates to the colonial days, man.

  • @ttannia1 Yes, but also on the Glorious Burden there is a song called "The Reckoning (don't Thread On Me)" And in his solo project ,,Sons Of Liberty" he has released a song called "Don't Thread On Me" On the LP "Brush-Fire Of The Minds"

  • Jon Schaffer has a deep interest in American history. Including military history. And a deep respect for servicemen and women. See: "The Glorious Burden". His use of "Don't tread on me" is in honor of those who serve and have served. Metallica used it to "look cool".

  • "Don't tread on me" was depicted on the Gadsden Flag. The first flag carried into battle by the Continental Marines during the American Revolution. The phrase has nothing to do with those Metallica sellouts.

  • I love his guitar.

  • Man when this album first came out. I had a kickass system in my GMC truck. Me & my brother-inlaw used to jam this song & the rest of the album. Brings back good memory's. Jon has always had a heavy great tone....

  • I want that guitar :)

  • Really awesome verse

  • Come back to Athens

  • Fucking amazing

  • There's one guy that prefers playing the flute instead of the guitar.

  • @Ivokbg It's not a sin to play a different instrument than guitar.

  • @AJtheGuitarist38 Of course, it's not a sin to listen to a music other than metal either. But I don't hit the "dislike" button on every Justin Bieber or Shakira video, right?

I hope you get my point :)

  • ...so people say "Wait! How do you do that live?"

"You don't worry about live. You know, you do, what you GOT to do"

    Fucking genius

  • I could watch this all day.

  • Crappy sound

    ò.ò

  • ohh yeah!!! those are great though i play 99% of the songs of iced earth !!!

  • behold the riffgod !!!

  • The main riff sounds SO much like Demons & Wizards - The Whisler. Same notes, almost same order!

  • @Gabriopunk77 maybe because John wrote that one too? :D

  • @s0niblackbones Dave Mustaine wrote Mechanix, Holy Wars, Foreclosure of a Dream, Breadline, etc. Because the same person writes two songs doesn't mean they can sound the same. Actually, they shouldn't. I love D&W and I like what I've heard of IE, but he shouldn't write two songs using one riff.

  • @Gabriopunk77 Well, what I meant is that John has a sertent style. So don't be surprized if you find out than a lot of songs are kind alike. Iron Maiden has the same riff in Hallowed be thy name, Genghis Khan and Transylvania (and that's only of the song's I've learned from maiden), but if you listen to those songs, you won't realise it :)

  • @Gabriopunk77 uhm...u know D&W consists of artists of IE and BG...it may sound similar but its not the same...and stop arguing...just listen to a twist in the myth, where BG used the whole song with another text for a second title

  • @Gabriopunk77 or does demons and wizards sound like the main riff?

  • @megapurify This song was released this year. Demons & Wizards was released many years ago.

  • @Gabriopunk77 you idiot burning times was written in 1998!

  • @megapurify The idiot is you. It doesn't matter, they are two songs from the same composer. Shut up now, you prick.

  • he playing in drop tuning

  • @DigitalPosion NO! Its half step down, all the way. Drop tuning is when you drop ONE string a whole step down while leaving the rest in standard (drop D). If you change the tuning in all the strings, it's not drop tuning unless you drop the low 6th string a whole step down further (like drop C#, drop C, drop B, drop A, etc). If you don't, than it's standard X. In this case, Standard Eb.

  • @DigitalPosion E flat. every string is a 1/2 step down from standard tuning.

  • Interesting. One of the best Iced Earth songs ever. Hail Iced Earth.

  • I'd say show us the fast triplets of Travel in Stygian. That can't be easy.

  • Pretty damn cool! This is a riff I just always play mindlessly when noodling. When I recorded a test clip for my amp, THIS is the riff that just coming out naturally. Excellent to see the master showing us how it's properly played! I guess I need to removed my clips in honor.

  • You just gotta love Schaffer's guitar sound! Kickass!

  • That beginning riff sounds like one of my songs I did a year ago. Ha that's awesome

  • los in de broek

  • Didn't Metallica do a song named "don't tread on me?

  • @alxdd2 Yes, they did. It's a historical phrase, not something they made up (on the off chance you don't already know).

  • Burning Times is probably one of the easiest Iced Earth songs to play! Bring on Dante's Inferno!!!

  • DONT TREAD ON ME!

Hail to Jon Schaffer best rhythm guitarist ever

  • @Unas1 Do you know Tim Millar of Protest the Hero? That is a rhythm guitarrist.

  • @SRcRasher Yeah! That's a rhythm guitarrist: /watch?v=L1fxVVl_1bM

  • @Jaunldiraens Yep, they are a very technical band

  • @SRcRasher Sorry dude, i meant it ironically. Tim plays some kind of solos together with the other guy. Great for him, but what i'm talking about are the rhythm patterns of Jon compared with Tims. Hearing Iced Earth, you hear the freaking right-hand technique making the basis of Iced Earth's songs. Hear to Dante's Inferno...a Masterpiece!!!

  • @Jaunldiraens Yep, i know that Jon has a nice right-hand technique because he use very well the gallops, but in my opinion that Tim´s left-hand technique is better, because, he uses a lot of rhythm patterns and he can do every kind of tapping and riffs with different tempo pattenrs. Hear to Bloodmeat or C´est la vie.

  • awesome riff..badass shirt... lol
