Is this DS software a good beginning point (in sound tech) for a high school student like me who wants to major in Music Theory/Composition? Would you consider this something that would be harder to use than Finale/Sibelius?
I don't think this software is a good start point for music theory, because its too limited. However, its a great tool(game) to make music in. It is powerfull and if you understand how it works, you also understand basic synthesis. I have no knowledge of Finale/Sibelius, so I cannot compare it to that. If you want to begin with a music program, try MODPlug Tracker. Its easier to learn, even easier to get started with, and its free too. :)
The primary purpose of Finale/Sibelius is for music notation, whereas the Korg DS-10's is for sound synthesis and performance, so they are used for different things. If by sound technology you mean technology which is used to create and perform music, you'd rather get the DS-1. But if you plan to write music for musicians, Finale/Sibelius are very good for printing neat scores.
Great song man! I have also like you got quite far with this thing as i'm now making projects and songs using the song mode. If you don't mind can you post some of tutorial video to show each screen for the settings of the drum kit! Thanks! :-D
I didn't showed the drums when I made this song as it was my first attempt. I do show the drums in most of my other video's. I would say check those out, cus they're mostly the same, if not better.
But don't forget a very important rule in music creation. All that matters is that you make something you like. You'll get better and better by each song. I have 14 years of experience, so its no wonder mine is better. :)
Just opted to buy DS-10 Plus after playing with Rytmik from DSi ware for a while. To hear a song this good is encouraging.

Wow, another awesome song man. I love the ambient-ness of it.
I like how it sounds professional and it is on the DS. (Well with 14 years experience with making music, it better xD)
