I know, but he's playing it on a little four piece kit and not his usual monster set-up. When they were making the album, they had wrapped everything up and his kit had been sent back home. Geddy was fooling around with a fretless bass, came up with a great riff and they started jamming with it. All Neil had to work with was a four piece setup. Alex came in later and added the guitar parts. It's all an the "Making of Snakes and Arrows" DVD. :)
Well, I have to disagree. No doubt that Rush is one of the greatest things to EVER happen to the world, but Nickelback isn't that bad. Sure, they are no where near as good as Rush, but I've seen Nickelback live, and they put on a pretty good show. But still, Rush for life!
Maybe I am wrong, but the one who appears really dangerous is the guy in the end of the video, not the tree of "research for an answer" made by humankind through its history. And in fact the guy at the end is really narcissist. The title explains everything.
Yah but this bass line is special. Geddy made it with a Fender Jaco Tribute model so it has a special meaning xD Geddy wanted to tribute to Jaco in some way ^_^ I fkin love Rush
W.e I was just saying he could have used like any other Fender Fretless but he chose Jaco's tribute model and no one can deny that fretless is the most amazing model ever so I was kinda saying. Of course a bass player of the caliber of Geddy (personnally Geddy is the best Rock bass player ever but thats personal) surely knew and knows who Jaco is. Every bass player should know ^_^
Hes the best at bass and singing alrite but well I jus love Geddy he was myfirst great inspiration and still is a Rock icon for me you know lol its just that ppl sometimes underrate him too much T_T tahts sad ^_^
absolutely, they are totally underrated, they have more talent than such trashy bands as nickelback, ac/dc, or guns n roses, but get almost no recognition, most people i know don't even KNOW rush
For me Rush is the legendary trio of Rock. Alex, Neil and Geddy are the most talented trio in rock history and Rush is probably the most high quality, oldest still-playing today band around. Love em my favs of all times xD
I only made the comparision because those two bands are extremely simple (not just in the instrumental department, but their lyrics are awful as well) when compared to Rush, in really every category imaginable, but are more popular for some inexplicable reason, espically AC/DC
Awesome video for an awesome song.

At the base of each tree I would of wrote 'Ignorance' Because thats what religion really stems from.
ByTor190 2 years ago 2
not really... and the fact you say that makes you pretty ignorant yourself. where did you learn this? youtube? some tv show?

Some call it common sense. You may know it as advanced knowledge.

That's how good Rush is. They can knock something over, build on in, and come up with some good chit.

best track on Snakes

Hey! That's 2 minutes and 25 seconds of sound that should humble the "popular" crap coming out these days... it doesn't.
But that's what Rush is all about...
Thanks Guys. Keep it coming.
And incredible video... "Bobby"!
Nicely done.

He didn't choose the bass because of Pastorius, he chose it cause he needed a fretless bass

Never, ever include Nickelback in a list with AC/DC or GNR.
Geddy Lee is my favorite musician, but Rush and AC/DC are my two favorite bands..
never, EVER
