When you were talking about the dancing mania, I thought you were going to mention the tarantella. From what I know, in Italy around medieval times, there was this belief going around that the only way to cure a spider bite was to dance wildly (the idea was that the dancers would sweat out the poison). An Italian word for spider is tarantola and that's where the dance got its name. Anyway, I'm not sure if that's entirely correct, if it's feel free to contradict me.
"Seduced and lost". Sounds like the kids were molested and then the villagers quietly had the kids killed with the church's permission because the kids, being defiled, were no longer considered worth knowing or saving. Heterosexuals and homosexuals are like that. They are averse to children. It is a murderous psychosis leading to abortion, infanticide, neglect of children older than seven or eight. They like babies, though, because babies look like little fat adults--churchmen worship babies.
at that time was done in the Balkans dervisma toll in blood, which meant that every non-Muslim family would have to give their male children in janicar
@tokarski21 I had always thought that is was a case of mischievous girls diverting the blame for their occult dabblings. But the early manifestations of hysteria in Salem certainly do appear to be ergot related and the sort of weather they were having is the kind that promoted the fungus growth.
.
Such weather often preceded witch hysterias in Europe, especially in poor areas where rye was grown for local subsistence. Both the gangrenous and convulsive symptoms must have been terrifying.
You don't think that maybe, just maybe, the Vatican destroyed the documents relating to Pope Joan and revised history to squeeze her out?
Given that there are statues and the infamous Papal "grope stool" to substantiate the story, it doesn't seem reasonable to dismiss the account just because perishable paper records have, well, perished.
I'd be very interested to know about the history of the town of St Albans in England. The origin is well documented; what interests me (and quite a few residents of the town) is the link between the religious mania that saw the martyrdom of the St Albans and the long history of insanity in the town that reaches right up to the present day. Until recently, it was officially the craziest town in England, with more lunatic asylums than anywhere else in the UK. Something in the water, maybe?
@tokarski21: Mm, and not just for people with a local interest in the town; it'd be a good case study of witch-hunts, historical lycanthropy, martyrdom, mass hallucinations, mob behaviour, and the impact all of those have on later generations. It's also genuine lost history; no one yet has done any research into it, and I've looked.
You've also touched on the history of St Albans indirectly a couple of times, when you mentioned Budicca's sacking of Verulamium, and in mentioning ergot & Salem.
@tokarski21: I entertain the notion that I'll use it as the theme of a horror novel; I know the town and its denizens quite well already, and I love the ominous double-meaning inherent in "There's Something In The Water".
I wanna get the LSD poisoning. In fact, I want everyone to get it. We might learn something now that we can't attribute all our visions to god or the devil.
@IAMtheNewWorldOrder: Ergot is also attributed to causing outbreaks of werewolf sightings and witchunts; I'm just as curious as you are, but the side-effects can include homicidal delusions and hallucinating mobs going berserk.
The Pope Joan conspiracy is one of my favorites. According to the People's Almanac, the church moved Pope Leo's death date forward to when Joan died. The "chair" was installed after this and the Cardinals proclaimed of the new Pope, "testiculos habit et bene pen dentes" (spelling is probably wrong) and it means, he has balls and they are hanging all right.
thank you for this upload as well as all the others. once again great job on the research. could you please tell me the name of the song at about 3.17?
but doesnt the vatican when ordaining a new pope have a ceremony where he is lifted over the heads of the cardinals so they can see if his genitals are as they should be, and i doubt if a ceremony like that was created just on the whim of closet homosexual voyeur
Nietzche was a visionary for the nazi holocaust, institutionalized racism, eugenics (which means selective genetic breeding of humans), master race theories, classicism - it's highly unlikely that any of these events and ideological themes would have existed without Nietzche's works.. im not denying his influence but his philosophy was aminalistic and barbaric, which undermined his own argument about "man and Superman" as he saw human nature as nothing greater than animal nature
The dance mania could also be tarantism - from which evolved the tarantella dance & Quentin Tarantino's name :). If someone is bitten by a tarantula wolf-spider or otherwise imbibes the venom, they become excitable and restless before death. It was believed that dancing frantically would cure people. This would all end in a convulsive "ahiiiii" cry. Whether this is all true is another matter, perhaps it was ergot after all or mass hysteria.

Europe's a 'shit hole' that people with 'pride' or 'balls' left. It is closer to an insect colony, 'feudalism' everyone in their place, no mobility, just a 'philosophy' of the NWO.Rich European aristocracy, bankers, & 'conquers' who seduce with lies, they don't even use force, they brain wash, with an agenda, that only a 'slave' would accept. Europe = Nietzsche's Slave Morality, they hate Americans, who don't abide their stupid shit. But America will be 'there' in 10 years.

By the way the portguese are the stupidest race on the planet.

of 20th century, the results are still available, but ignored because of political
correctness.
The lowest 3 out of 50 nationalities were Native Americans, African-Americans and lastly portugese, a race of losers who only interested in raping and farting. They
Wow that comment cleary shows your intelegentce that is none XD I realy would like to see this so call tests the suposed results of those tests are just racist african-americans native americans shesse give me a break go to you pile of shit enjoy your racial views realy
The IQ test was taken between 1905-06. You are an inferior being, you personally are dumb, lazy and smell of shit. Clean your body, read a book, exercise, and learn that the gay lifestyle condemns you to being, an 'assboy' Selling your backside to tourist, is not an honorable life. Portugal, means 'rape' in Spanish. Leave the little boys alone, it will only get you arrested. Americans can go to Portugal and arrest you, we rule and you blow.
Americans can go here and arrest me? You rule then come mate send USA here lets see if they arrest me you americans are cancer of Earth to Mankind and Nature and just to shut you up the first IQ test was in 1912 so realy show what realy ignorant felow you are corrupt american
Ah yes the IQ tests in the beginnening of the 20th century...tests made up by the very same brilliant minds who looked at skulls of blacks and whites and theorised that blacks the descendants of apes and whites the descendants of Atlanteans..wow yes let us all believe that bullshit!!

@ashthegreat dude every people is guilty of these things in sometime or other the brits the americans iraqis turks... the list includes everyone, except maybe tibetans or something
why not? i dont see it's as equal right question, more as we are all gods children and each man can be a pillar to god? Where does it say in the bible it couldnt? The metaphor about eve being built from adam ribs doesnt make the man holier,Tradition and beliving aint the same thing.
@Hambidosvinet Actually she wasn't built from his rib. Sumerian where it was taken from 'Lady of the Rib' Ninti has different significance. Apparently God(to us he's so far evolved) who made us wished for Eve to eat from tree. His brother Enlil didn't.And there is hierarchy of Gods not one. God delegates duties apparenlty. It seems living myths are needed to understand these matters. Maybe if we have personify it we see the heirarchy.
Piper yes i think also it is a cave then it will be very long and big and maybe its the only place that are safe for how long and but how they get their food unknown theory they eat only fish? My theory they are all under ground tunnel and has access for fresh water?
There are lots of great stories from the middle ages, and punching in different key words on google can get you some of them. One story I may cover later was about 2 green children that were found by some villagers. Also, a great book to read about a knight in the 14th century is called 'A Distant Mirror' by Barbara Tuchman. It's full of interesting facts and stories.
Great vid nice one. Ive heard about a number of medivil peasants encountering strange lords and knights in forests, men in black, men in white, men in green, alsorts of things like that, but im having a hard time finding more info if u could help id be gratful cheers
I saw the pope joan movie with my mom, and afterward I wanted to learn more about her, so I looked her up on google, and I read that the vatican shuns the place where joan reportedly gave birth, who knows if its true? I don't trust just reading comments.
And you shouldn't. Sometimes when I'm researching these, I have to decide what sources are more accurate - and it's hard. I try and keep an open mind to all the possibilities, within reason.
I am sorry to say that I can't remember. I pulled it off an an old album that had medieval and renaissance church music on it, but I didn't note which selection I used.
No problem. I have an ummm... active interest in certain chemicals.
As a show idea, it'd be awesome if you did an episode on isolated aboriginal tribes, Shaman priests and their traditional use of entheogenic drugs... Just the beliefs and structures of their society before contact with "civilization", europe, Christianization etc.
Mabe a bunch of kids were hallucinating they were rats and behaving as such and were causing alot of problems when a musician grabed their attention with a flute and led them off away from the town were they later died of ergot poisoning... (shrugs)
the tale of the pied piper is very interesting, tho the tie in with the children s crusade it very intriguing and thought provoking as its a part of history that i find hard to understand as a father.
Was there really a children's crusade or was it simply a rally cry for others to take up the cross after they had heard tales of the slavery, murder and despoiling of the children involved?
That's a good question. There's a lot of conflicting info as to what may or may not have actually happened around 1212. It would probably make a good episode to try and sort it all out.
Yes, I think it was. But it also stemmed from true stories of women who had disguised themselves as men and made it into the priesthood. And the reasons for its popularity can tell us a lot about the people and the society of those times.
Hmmm, that's a tough one. I usually do my research in books an on the web, so I can say that you're 26 and live in the United Kingdom - but reading between the lines I could go out on a limb and guess that you're an ex-catholic and an ex-patriot looking to make your mark in a mans' world. Am I close?
At last, someone that know's about false beard's before the planet got put to sleep! right, start with the Book of Revelation 22: the identity of the Son of God is 'The Spirit and The Bride', which is a physically female gendered body of flesh with the Spirit of a man, NOT a physically male gendered man's body of flesh with the spirit of a woman, and you should know what Learn by Rote' mean's! Oh, and it's 'Yea', not 'Yey' is you know your Cromwell!

I am sure Ian Anderson would be flattered to be the Piper. Nice to hear some obscure Tull, like the excerpt from Passion Play.

equal rights now ;)
stiggyh 2 years ago
why not? i dont see it's as equal right question, more as we are all gods children and each man can be a pillar to god? Where does it say in the bible it couldnt? The metaphor about eve being built from adam ribs doesnt make the man holier,Tradition and beliving aint the same thing.
Hambidosvinet 2 years ago
god creating the male first and using part of him to create a woman? does that mean eve belongs to adam? lets talk about equality in church..
khryzalids 2 years ago
@Hambidosvinet Actually she wasn't built from his rib. Sumerian where it was taken from 'Lady of the Rib' Ninti has different significance. Apparently God(to us he's so far evolved) who made us wished for Eve to eat from tree. His brother Enlil didn't.And there is hierarchy of Gods not one. God delegates duties apparenlty. It seems living myths are needed to understand these matters. Maybe if we have personify it we see the heirarchy.

Maybe Pope Joan was a transvestite!
A pope who dressed & acted like a woman or a pope who had a sex change!

I saw the pope joan movie with my mom, and afterward I wanted to learn more about her, so I looked her up on google, and I read that the vatican shuns the place where joan reportedly gave birth, who knows if its true? I don't trust just reading comments.
911reaper 3 years ago
And you shouldn't. Sometimes when I'm researching these, I have to decide what sources are more accurate - and it's hard. I try and keep an open mind to all the possibilities, within reason.

what was the first song played in the background, the one with the voices sounding like they're speaking in latin?

I am sorry to say that I can't remember. I pulled it off an an old album that had medieval and renaissance church music on it, but I didn't note which selection I used.

Ergot actually contains LSA, a chemical cousin and precursor to LSD.
kwaal 3 years ago
I did not know that. Thanks.
tokarski21 3 years ago
No problem. I have an ummm... active interest in certain chemicals.
As a show idea, it'd be awesome if you did an episode on isolated aboriginal tribes, Shaman priests and their traditional use of entheogenic drugs... Just the beliefs and structures of their society before contact with "civilization", europe, Christianization etc.
kwaal 3 years ago
An interesting idea. Drugs in general, and their transformation from ritual to recreation would be a possible topic also.
tokarski21 3 years ago
Mabe a bunch of kids were hallucinating they were rats and behaving as such and were causing alot of problems when a musician grabed their attention with a flute and led them off away from the town were they later died of ergot poisoning... (shrugs)

THE PIPER WAS THE DEVIL
XULLF 4 years ago
I thought Piper was Death.
HammandClov 3 years ago
the tale of the pied piper is very interesting, tho the tie in with the children s crusade it very intriguing and thought provoking as its a part of history that i find hard to understand as a father.
nice work.
The8thDOCTOR 4 years ago
What's also interesting is that an apparantly true tragedy that befell children turned into a childrens' fairy tale. And the moral is...?
tokarski21 4 years ago
Was there really a children's crusade or was it simply a rally cry for others to take up the cross after they had heard tales of the slavery, murder and despoiling of the children involved?
The8thDOCTOR 4 years ago
Sorry, I should have posted that in reply to your reply to me.
The8thDOCTOR 4 years ago
That's a good question. There's a lot of conflicting info as to what may or may not have actually happened around 1212. It would probably make a good episode to try and sort it all out.

The legend of a female Pope was a myth dreamed up by protestants during the reformation
HAHAHAusa 4 years ago
Yes, I think it was. But it also stemmed from true stories of women who had disguised themselves as men and made it into the priesthood. And the reasons for its popularity can tell us a lot about the people and the society of those times.
tokarski21 4 years ago
well its a myth popular with me.
what can you tell me about me?
HAHAHAusa 4 years ago
Hmmm, that's a tough one. I usually do my research in books an on the web, so I can say that you're 26 and live in the United Kingdom - but reading between the lines I could go out on a limb and guess that you're an ex-catholic and an ex-patriot looking to make your mark in a mans' world. Am I close?
tokarski21 4 years ago
At last, someone that know's about false beard's before the planet got put to sleep! right, start with the Book of Revelation 22: the identity of the Son of God is 'The Spirit and The Bride', which is a physically female gendered body of flesh with the Spirit of a man, NOT a physically male gendered man's body of flesh with the spirit of a woman, and you should know what Learn by Rote' mean's! Oh, and it's 'Yea', not 'Yey' is you know your Cromwell!
