I think Bowser attacked King Dedede mainly because he thought that Dedede was the one who shot him with the Dark Cannon. Either that or he was just being his obnoxious self and wanted to beat somebody up to quench his rage.

How can you possibly have a chance against somebody with a mechanized hammer anyway? Seriously! ^_^

it's a little bit of both. bowser was so angry because he got shot that he would take it out on anyone that was near him. he's not a good listener so he didn't care what dedede said to him.
