I lived the 1960s, but I just saw this movie for the first time last night (in the middle of the night) on regular TV! I watched the whole thing until 4 a.m. I couldn't turn it off so I never got to bed. I recommend this movie to anyone who grew up in the Woodstock/Psychedelic generation! BTW, I read the U.S. Bill of Rights and I know that I have the constitutional right--------- to be "Groovy"!!!!!!!!!!! 5-Stars for this classic movie!!! Anybody got some acid??????????? @_@
hmmmm, i did plenty of acid and mushies during the 80s but never had the experiences that Peter Fonda did. maybe that was due to lack of funding. the acid/mushies were top quality tho.
i quit tripping in 1969... i remember a lot of really good times; some VERY bad times as well. the shit back then seemed powerful but it was often mixed with strychnine. the experiences were often context-based; my last experience was at altamont. not a fun time. the hippies of the '60's were NOTHING like hippies nowadays. much more like the punks than those new-age-ers in tie-dyes...
I went to this movie on acid.Forgot what is was about. Remember leaving the theater and looking at a Japanese Plum tree in bloom and seeing these beautiful blossoms pulsating with energy. I will never forget the impression I got from that tree. Such incredible manifested beauty.
@windhorse22 A pretty awesome comment on this clip, haha.
Never done LSD, only mushrooms and they've been very kind to my mind. When I feel ready I'm gonna try it for sure. Very interesting to hear from people who lived in the 60's, I am very fascinated of this time. The "taking woodstock"- movie may be closer to the truth of what happens on LSD?
Jesus, the 60's were an interesting time for the Fonda kids. Peter was drugged out of his mind and riding a motorcycle and Jane was stripping at zero gravity and having sex with angels...
time stamped classic .....a period of lsd experimentation.....the good ol days...I got 2 try it in the early 2 mid 80s....it was still pretty good then....changed my life....film representation back then must have been difficult to really display visually a psychedelic experience..this film still is fun 4 me.....some times it hits base in this film.... also .some great music..... and that one blonde....mmmm
My only problem with this movie is that having done LSD a number of times, I can't say I EVER had visuals of the likes Peter Fonda experiences in this film. I mean, that's hollywood! However, what I would posit is that the conclusion of this film does bring up the most important question one asks oneself when one has experienced LSD. And that question is: what really happened to me?
@cutis1000 yes time seems to go really slowly, really fast or just stand still. i never hallucanated as much as in this film just distortions although i did see all the rubbish in the bin talking to me and when i put a ciggarette in my mouth it seemed like a snooker que right across the room, when i went to bed i saw all these amazing beutiful patterns merging and changing it was FANTASTIC!
@cutis1000 It's metaphorical. On LSD you can't see those things he saw, but they're only representing his thoughts and feeling in an artistic way :) And I think a way more important question wich came into my mind was: What is Reality ;)
@ParaFuckinNoir Well, you open up a thread for another discussion entirely. But all you need to do is quote Philip K. Dick on the nature of reality to get you started:
"Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, it doesn't go away."
@cutis1000 well maybe you ate some bathtub acid.....pure lsd is something to be hold....you can tell the difference imediately.......sitting inside a kaliedscope for 8 to 12 hours.....you can tell..........
@noe17ful LSD was definitely more powerful back in 60's. But what I've figured out is that I did about 55 micrograms. And a typical LSD back in the late 60's was easily 100 micrograms or more in a given dose.
I can understand how reality would not be making sense under such a strong hallucinogen. But again, I don't think the Trip, as a movie, accurately describes an LSD trip for most people.
Sorry I didn't see your request before. It was on the retro station AT&T 916 Yesterday Monday. I looked, but it isn't on again. But eventually the will play it again. Roger Corman is one of my heroes and I have met him once.
CANT ANYONE TELL ME THE NAME OF THE SONG IN MINUTE 1:53 PLEASE!I LOVE THE BEAT!ALSO CAN ANYONE TELL ME WHERE I MIGHT FIND THIS MOVIE!I REALLY WANT TO SEE IT! IT SEEMS SO INTRESTING
@consentidastarx3 It's called "Fine Jung Thing" by The Electric Flag, they did all the music for the film and you can probably still find the soundtrack CD or it might be on a collection CD of theirs
Any psychonaut worth his metaphysical salt will attest to the cold hard fact that every attempt to describe something as terrifying, tragic, and unbelievably moving/beautiful as the human mind on LSD in mere WORDS is naught but the purest of mortal folly. Still however, it is somewhat commendable that an entire era did strive to do so with its music, film, and artwork. Perhaps then it was our own folly which gained us the favor, love, and forgiveness of God through the eternitae.
Drug my ass!!! That thing called lsd sounds very powerfull! no more dreams for me!!! but I can't! someone just has to say it's illegal and not good for people with autism.
