Useful video, cheers. Found a pretty much new copy of Space Hulk the other day for £80 which seems like a good price compared to what it's going for on Ebay! Having a lot of fun with it so far.
Greetings from Florida! Can the flamer hurt Marines? it dosent say anything in the rulebook about it. Oh and your right about the corners, as long as there is no model between the edge. And i would take your ruling with the dice rolls, assuming you are rolling for models from back to front. It would be unfair not to, especially with the time limit for the marine's turn.
1. You can't move diagonal through corners (at 4.59)
2. You cannot roll lots of dice, and then choose who dies. You have to roll one at a time, and announce which GS's dice it is, before rolling.
And sovereignpatriotusa is wrong. The fire lasts only one turn. Quote from 3rd Edition rulebook: "Once placed, the flamer marker remains where it is until it is removed in the Mission Status phase at the end of the turn."
The video is wrong; command points are spent in reaction to an enemy action, once the first genestealer moves he must spend the CP's to target and shoot that model when he performs his action. The other genestealers would not have even moved at this point. Flamer blocks movement so you cannot move into that section; he said that part correct but showed it wrong by moving the genestealer into the section.
The flamer is a SECTION EFFECT weapon, meaning that the flamer marine may fire into any section he has LOS to within 12 squares (including the edge of any square in a section even if that square contains a 'Stealer) , ANY unit or blip in the section must suffer the effects (whether weapons or psychic effects).
So, if the marine can just reach the first square in a section containing 9 squares, ALL units in the section are affected.
Also, a marine can flame same section 2x , & it lasts 2 turns.
Yes, i believe this is clarified in either the Campaigns book, or the 3rd edition rules book (i have both).
You can double shoot a flamer into the same section on a turn (costing the flame marine 4AP's), and the flame effect will last for 2 turns.
If anybody wants PDF copies of the rules, please contact me. I have them for 1st and 2nd edition, plus the deathwing and genestealer (and other white dwarf articles).
The fire lasts only one turn. Quote from 3rd Edition rulebook: "Once placed, the flamer marker remains where it is until it is removed in the Mission Status phase at the end of the turn."
I know I read it somewhere, but I can't locate the rule about flamer effects lasting 2x right this moment. I will be looking more later when I get out of work and update.
However, it says 'a model or blip cannot move diagonally through another model, blip, or closed door.' -3rd Ed.
Otherwise, a diagonal move is perfectly legal as long as there is one open side (meaning you can't squeeze thru a corner and a model to move diagonal, but if a side is open you can move).
hm i think u can shoot only at the first genestealer u see and not in the middle of 3 genestealers because is just logic that the flames will hit the first genestealer and there must the fire be placed
that seems way to broken to affect the whole room. and on a 2+? i cant see it being that over balanced they wouldnt give you markers for where the flamer is if it wasnt supposed to be used personally.
so then it is the board piece and not whats under the temp or marker???? ok in the first example where u have the four and the junction. what if i target right at the point where the two pieces meet........ does it effect both parts??? as in both map sections.... the marker covers basically three spaces if i target the area where two on one map section and one on the other is what i'm meaning. does it effect both sections or just what is under the marker
you can only aim and hit one part of the jigsaw and not both, basically ignore the square floor tiles when using the flamer. this then means every model on that zigsaw piece is affected

1. you CAN move diagonally as long as there isn't a model blocking the corridor.
2. yer, i was doing this quickly, you should do it one at a time.

If he fires it at the section he is in does it kill him on a 2+ ?

see i was right about it effecting the hole board section.
handymanjims40k 2 years ago
The way I read it was the way Alexandra from girl painting described it. In the fact that it can blow away up to 12 spaces down a corridor.

yer but then it only has 6 shots per a game and it has to have a good los. It takes 2 ap to fire as well. tyranids usually win most games any way!

masterowen45 2 years ago
models should not be stradling 2 board sections the stop where the jigsaw is is not a square so the crack where pieces meet is not a valid target.
